I slayed an Ice dragon and now I'm King of the dragon slayers -
Chapter 52: An Upgrade?
Chapter 52: An Upgrade?
"Any last words from the king of the dragon slayers?".
Rhett stared at the demon, his face scared as it walked up to him with the sword. He looked at the horn, it intimidated him and it seemed like it would come off and plunge into his chest.
Rhett didn’t answer the question of having any last words. He had noted that in movies he watched back on earth if anyone replied a last word, he seemed to die. On a few occasions, some replied with bravery and they got to be free of the situation.
Well, he had decided that he would say just nothing.
"Nothing eh?", the monster asked with a devious grin.
’Apparently!’, Rhett thought in his mind.
’Just go on already’.
The demon lunged the sword forward, towards Rhett’s chest...
A Kick!
A push!
A ferocious slap!
A horn splitting hit with the sword!
All on the demon. It slumped to the ground immediately and was dead.
Who had done all this damage?.
Daxer pulled Rhett up and kept him at his back, the latter still struggling to stand on his feet. Resisting the pain throbbing all over his body.
The other demons stared at the dead demon. They were angry that Daxer had killed it, even spitting its horns at that. Their faces showed their displeasure and shock, they seemed visibly angry with the humans facing them.
Daxer quickly picked up Rhett’s sword and handed it over to him. Rhett collected it, still in pain. The dead demon had hit him so well it seemed to have a lasting effect.
"M’lord,"Daxer whispered to Rhett. "Now we’ve gotta slay these demons, we have to kill them all if we wish to survive".
Rhett nodded in the affirmative.
Funny enough, the demons stood, eavesdropping on what they were saying.
"You two won’t be getting out of here alive, at least now, you guys won’t get any surprising intervention. Now, we will rip you guys apart and gain your souls!."
And so a battle ensued. The demons came at them, then moved about, trying to strategically overpower their opponents. They didn’t hold swords, but carried long and sharp claws that could rip them apart.
Rhett bent a bit as a demon almost collided into him. He was at the left and with the demon going to the right, he shoved his sword at its back. It slumped onto the floor, dead.
One down, five more to go.
Daxer had already killed two.
Three dead, two to go.
The remaining two came at Rhett, their faces a scowl. It felt, to the demons by the way, as one last desperate attack to have victory.
Rhett gripped his sword very tightly, for a moment, the pain in his stomach all gone. The demons fly at him now, and at that moment they looked like birds, wingless birds by the way.
Rhett hadn’t quite been a fan of martial arts his whole life, but at least he had seen quite a lot of Jackie Chan’s movies. And that was what he was going to implement right about...
He leaped in the air, his two feet forward, plunging into the bellies of the demons.
BOOM!
The demons fell.
Rhett landed on their bodies, his right leg on one, his left on another. He didn’t hesitate, he put the sword down to thrust it at a demon’s neck. The other used its quite large hands to grab him by the neck.
Rhett shook his head sideways, he couldn’t breath, it felt as if he would die. His face turned purple and the light he had ignited with the wave of his sword now flickered almost endlessly now.
Rhett was dying.
The demon holding him suddenly paused and let go of its hand on Rhett’s neck. Rhett fell on the ground and tried to breathe. The act of him breathing felt like fitting an elephant into the eye of a needle.
But Rhett persisted and soon he was breathing far from normal. But at least he was getting oxygen into his body and breathing out the carbon dioxide.
The sickening sound of steel grinding with the fleshy sound of intestine made Rhett look and when he did so he saw Daxer, his face bent and his right hand on the horn of the demon, removing his sword from its belly with his left hand.
Rhett noted at that moment that indeed Daxer was a fierce and resilient warrior. Infact, maybe he could fight than him.
The demon slumped to the ground and Rhett stood up getting to Daxer who almost embraced him but then decided to go for a handshake.
A spark of light suddenly scintillated and Rhett saw that it was his stats.

Rhett looked at Daxer who was stunned with what was going on. Soon, they saw, up ahead, its light submerging the other lights shining in the soul eater’s body, a gem-like object.
It looked like a tiny gem, white?, well, from where, they couldn’t see it all too well.
Rhett and Daxer exchanged glances, their faces with glee.
"It’s the soul eater’s soul!", Daxer exclaimed.
