Chapter 40: I am Ruthless!

King vongarth was alerted with the words. He looked at Rhett in shock, his eyes widening it seemed it would fall out.

Rhett twisted his neck sideways and remained calm, his presence seeming very demure to those that stared at him. He was bracing himself for a challenge, he knew king vongarth’s whole army of Knights and guards would attack him and he thought of the way to sneak out of it.

Rhett suddenly Stepped forward and began to walk in circles around king vongarth who though was tempted to fume with anger, did not, instead he breathed hardly and was stunned by what was happening.

The ruthlessness of Rhett was indeed shocking to him, he hadn’t expected what was happening and in his current situation now, he felt abashed.

King vongarth, vigorously, shouted:

"Seize him and rip him apart!".

The guards and Knights and archers didn’t bulge. They stared at the dead knights and with the looks on their faces, they didn’t intend to end like that. It was completely the last thing they wanted in this world.

Rhett grinned and stared at King vongarth in face, in mockery, in ridicule and scorn and lastly in spite. He crouched and looking more into the eyes of king vongarth he said:

"I fulfilled the damn prophecy. You had known I would come. You all had been warned. You all had been warned by seers and dragon slayers prophets that a man would slay an ice dragon in your presence and become king of the dragon slayers!, you all knew. You particularly knew, I honestly doubt you took heed but because how dare you tell the king of the dragon slayers to do a bidden for you and if he refuses, he dies?".

King vongarth exchanged glances with his daughter, his glance and pleading for help.

Rhett continued more vociferously: "I slayed an ice dragon and became king of the dragon slayers!, I fulfilled the prophecy, didn’t that make you a bit afraid!, or you doubted it!".

"You’re now overpowered!", King vongarth shouted.

"This is less than overpowered, I’m actually nowhere near it. This isn’t overpowered. Instead you are weak, you all are weak and if it were other slayers, for example the ghost slayers who ripped my Kingdom apart, this would have been another story entirely".

Rhett stood up and walked backwards, facing the knights:

"I thought we were the weakest kingdom in the slayer’s domain but I’m wrong. You all are. And your king, well, he’s stupid, daft, an idiot, a scumbag and a damn failure!".

King vongarth gritted his teeth upon hearing that.

He felt like descending on Rhett and ripping him apart.

Rhett ignored him completely and looked at the terrace of the tower, calling onto Ash.

"Ash!".

Ash, also terrified, ran over to him and extended a slight now.

"Yes m’lord".

Rhett faced him and whispered, his hands covering his mouth:

"I’m only trying to inflict fear upon these people so don’t be afraid. I actually almost have no idea what I’m doing".

Ash almost exploded into laughter but then he nodded and faced the crowd.

"Don’t you want to be free from the hands of this vile and wicked king?. Don’t you want to follow a route that would lead you to paradise?", Ash explained to the crowd of warriors.

They responded with uncertain expressions, all exchanging glances. The citizens of the dragon hunters were actually all warriors so Rhett and Ash were quite surprised all of them had gotten to dress up like knights and participate in fighting the Ember dragon.

Suddenly, Rhett and Ash heard a loud hitting on one’s chest, it sounded like the hitting of flesh on iron and the crowd of Knights suddenly parted and running towards Rhett, his sword raised very high above his head was the guard who had beaten Rhett at the chain prison.

Rhett, his reflexes quite quicker than normal, moved smoothly to the side, ducked and made himself a spear, driving into the knight. Before the knight could voice a plea or say a word, Rhett had swiftly taken his sword and thrust it into his neck.

The knight held his neck and quivered like one left to roast in the sun. Rhett then stood up and dusted his ’demure’ clothing.

He faced the crowd who wore shocks on their faces. Rhett, seeing this as an advantage to sound tough and make his point, he said:

"With your help, we can make the dragon slayers into one large kingdom. You hunt dragons?, I slay them, with your help we can form one large empire".

King vongarth was completely stunned and speechless at what he was hearing and seeing. And the worst part of it all was that, by the looks on the faces of his citizens, he realized they were falling for Rhett’s words.

"Are you people in, or do you want me to rip this kingdom apart!."

King vongarth stared at his daughter. "He’s going mad, the spirit gem has made him become that, you’ve got to tell him to stop, put a damn end to this madness, to-, to-, to this-".

Rhett walked over to king vongarth and gave him a loud, face-reddening slap. Dhamsel gasped, Haicor gaped, while the whole crowd of the dragon hunters citizens shouted: "OHH!".

Ash smiled, he had always wanted to do this to King vongarth and watching Rhett do it, he was impressed and smiled. In a way, it felt, with an awkward feeling, that it was him who had done it, so he felt accomplishment.

King vongarth held his face and stood up, staring right into the face of Rhett.

A Knight from the crowd:

"Oh ye great king of the dragon slayers, you can rule us!We will do all you say, but if only you win against our King, king vongarth in a battle".

Rhett looked at his hands and twisted his neck sideways then shrugging he said loudly in the crowd:

"Then let’s rumble!".
