I Really Am A Villain
Ch. 433 - Visitors From The Empire

A passerby willing to protect a city that had nothing to do with him, charging into the demon spirit army.

In the eyes of the man in blue, there were only two possible explanations for someone like that:

Either he was insane, or he had confidence.

He looked at Xu Zimo. So far, Xu Zimo hadn’t done anything particularly impressive, and the man couldn’t see where this supposed confidence came from.

“No reason, I just wanted to see what demon spirits actually looked like,” Xu Zimo said with a smile.

The man in blue stared at Xu Zimo for a long moment, then turned and walked away.

He didn’t believe Xu Zimo was telling the truth, but it wasn’t his place to press.

The two of them walked to the top of the city wall. All the guards who had defended the city here were now dead.

Xu Zimo carefully placed one of the bodies down and checked the cause of death.

The corpse was badly decayed, seemingly caused by a very evil kind of power.

This power didn’t seem to be related to the demon spirits.

“Find anything?” the man in blue asked as he walked over.

“A very evil force, one I’ve never seen before,” Xu Zimo shook his head.

“It’s the work of those people from the Heretic God Cult,” the man in blue said grimly, snorting coldly.

“Heretic God Cult?” Xu Zimo had never even heard of such an organization, not even in his previous life.

“They’re a very evil and brutal group,” the man in blue said, surprised that Xu Zimo didn’t know them, then explained.

“The name ‘Heretic God Cult’ is what we call them. They call themselves the ‘True God Cult.’ It started tens of thousands of years ago in the Northern Continent. Their founder and their beliefs were extremely radical. They believe they are the enforcers of justice in this world, and that to make the world good, all bad people must be killed.”

“Interesting,” Xu Zimo said with a light chuckle.

“They recruited followers aggressively to join their cult.

What’s even more shocking is that in just one year, their ideology drew in tens of millions of followers.

Their influence spread across all five continents, it was massive,” the man in blue said, shaking his head.

“Eventually, many sects across the continents united to wipe them out.

But some of their members survived and went underground.

For thousands of years, battles involving the Heretic God Cult have never truly stopped.

They’re most active in the Northern and Central Continents.”

“What does that have to do with Tranquil Heaven City?” Xu Zimo asked.

“A few hundred years ago, the cult tried to rise again. They plotted a massive war to take over the Northern Continent,” the man continued.

“They planned to use the Phoenix Perch Empire as a starting point, to spread across the continent. But no one expected that, That year, a man rose from a small city, sharp and powerful like an eagle soaring through the skies, with great wisdom and ambition. He led the army of the Phoenix Perch Empire and crushed the Cult at Mount Thousand Evils. That man was then granted the title Tranquil Prince by the current ruler.”

“Tranquil Prince is from Tranquil Heaven City?” Xu Zimo asked.

“Yes. I was sent by him to protect this city,” the man in blue said calmly.

“Even the teleportation array here exists because of Tranquil Prince. Otherwise, how would such a remote little city be allowed one?”

“The Heretic God Cult massacred the city as revenge,” Xu Zimo instantly understood the whole picture.

“They don’t have the guts to go after Tranquil Prince directly, so they targeted this place instead,” the man in blue snorted.

Xu Zimo shook his head slightly. This matter didn’t really concern him.

But he did commit the name “Heretic God Cult” to memory.

As the two talked, spiritforce suddenly surged from the center of the city.

“Someone is using the teleportation array,” the man in blue immediately rushed toward the plaza.

Xu Zimo followed closely.

“Looks like someone from the Empire has arrived.”

……

When the two arrived at the plaza, they saw three figures in yellow robes already standing there.

Two men and one woman, each radiating powerful auras.

“Where’s Gao Zelong?” the man in the middle asked, frowning as he looked around.

“The city was massacred. He’s at the city lord’s manor,” the man in blue replied calmly.

“What’s going on? His Majesty sent three of us for a small city like this? Completely overkill,” the man on the left said in frustration.

“I’ll be sure to pass those words on to Tranquil Prince,” the man in blue replied coldly.

“Tranquil Prince?” the yellow-robed man froze, then quickly realized,

Tranquil Prince was from this very city. He immediately shut his mouth.

“Please don’t take offense, young man. We’re from the Empire’s Three Yellow Divisions, here to protect the city,” the man in the center said with a smile.

They were members of the Phoenix Perch Empire’s Yellow Division, each named after the sun, moon, and stars.

Their names were Yellow Star, Yellow Moon, and Yellow Sun.

“I serve under Tranquil Prince. You can call me Mo Ye,” the man in blue said with a nod.

The Yellow Divisions were one of seven color-coded divisions of the Empire and were quite famous.

After everyone introduced themselves, they turned to Xu Zimo.

Xu Zimo smiled lightly, waved his hand, and said, “Xu Zimo. No need to worry about me, I was just passing by and stepped in to help.”

With introductions done, the group began inspecting the city.

The situation was just as bad as expected. No one who had stayed behind in the city survived.

Of those who had returned from the front lines, only about twenty remained.

They sat silently outside their homes, eyes hollow, unable to shake off their grief.

Seeing this scene, Mo Ye and the others could only shake their heads helplessly.

“Everyone in the Heretic God Cult deserves to die,” Yellow Star said angrily.

“The Empire knows it too,” another replied. “But they’re like ghosts, always disappearing, and they grow their numbers too quickly. A hundred years ago, it was Tranquil Prince who ended it all. Who knows if another Tranquil Prince will rise in our time?”

……

“If you really can’t let go of the dead, why don’t you join them in the grave?”

Just then, a burst of wild laughter came from nearby.

Everyone turned their heads quickly and saw three black-robed figures slowly walking from around the corner.

“Heretic God Cult,” Mo Ye said coldly, squinting as he spoke each word.

“You dare show up here?” Yellow Star snorted.

Spiritforce surged around him. “Perfect, I’ll kill you and avenge this city’s people.”

“The radiance of the True God will shine across the world. And all of you stubborn fools will disappear like dust in the sunlight,” one of the black-robed men sneered.

As soon as he finished speaking, he raised his hands, and eight beams of light shot into the sky from various parts of the city.
