I Really Am A Villain
Ch. 432 - City Massacre

Although everyone had temporarily secured the breach, the number of demon spirits gathering there kept increasing.

The demon spirits had come to their senses and began a counterattack.

“City Lord, please hurry, we can’t hold them off much longer!” someone shouted nearby.

Gao Zelong nodded and quickly got to work with several formation masters.

The demon spirits on the outskirts seemed enraged, roaring as they charged at the group.

At this moment, whether from outside or the Phoenix Perch Demon Forest, more and more demon spirits were arriving by the minute, forming a tight encirclement like an iron barrel around the people.

With both sides engaged in battle, things were starting to get serious.

Xu Zimo raised his hands slightly, and with a surge of spiritforce, a large number of demon spirits were instantly knocked down.

He was holding back, but within a few meters around him, no demon spirit could get close.

The battle went on for a while, and both sides suffered casualties.

Just then, a loud roar came from behind.

It sounded extremely angry and was deafening.

All the nearby demon spirits suddenly stopped attacking, crouching as if showing submission.

“What’s happening?” someone from Tranquil Heaven City asked curiously.

As soon as the words were spoken, the demon spirit army in front of them parted, creating a path.

A much larger demon spirit walked out.

This one was twice the size of a regular demon spirit, and its skin was blood red.

Its aura felt far more noble and dominant.

“What is that?” a confused city resident asked.

“The Demon Spirit King,” Gao Zelong frowned and replied.

The Phoenix Perch Empire had dealt with demon spirits for tens of thousands of years, so they knew them well.

The Demon Spirit King was a very rare being, among thousands of demon spirits, there was only one.

The chance of encountering one was extremely low, yet they had run into it this time.

“Is it strong?” someone asked.

“Not just that. Without the Demon Spirit King, the demon army is just a disorganized mob, numerous but chaotic in attack. But the Demon Spirit King can command them and bring out their full power,” someone explained.

“Then take out the leader first.”

“How do we do that?”

Everyone looked at the Demon Spirit King, surrounded layer after layer by demon spirits, and fell silent.

The mood was heavy, until a sudden flash of sword light slashed down from the sky.

The sword light was powerful and cut through the silent sky, striking down with a loud boom.

Dozens of demon spirits were killed instantly, and a huge crater formed in the ground.

Everyone was shocked and looked up.

A man in blue robes, holding a long sword, stood in the sky.

His aura was overwhelming, and the long sword in his hand hummed softly.

Sword energy swirled around him, dancing freely in the air.

“Who is that?”

“No idea, but it looks like he’s here to help us,” someone muttered.

“Could it be... him?” Gao Zelong thought for a moment and suddenly remembered something.

He sighed deeply and said, “The Tranquil Prince has not forgotten us.”

……

The man in blue looked at the stunned crowd and said calmly, “Hold your positions. I’ll handle the Demon Spirit King.”

Hearing his words, everyone regained some hope.

“Thank you, sir, for helping Tranquil Heaven City,” they all bowed in gratitude.

“Just doing my duty,” the blue-robed man shook his head and said no more.

He tore through space itself, sword in hand with endless sword energy, a sea of swords following him, charging straight at the Demon Spirit King.

Xu Zimo took a glance, this man was at the Empyrean Meridian Realm.

Although the demon spirits were many, none were a match for him.

“Looks like Tranquil Heaven City is deeper than it seems,” Xu Zimo muttered to himself.

A small city like this having an Empyrean Meridian expert to protect it, and yet no one knew him, it definitely wasn’t simple.

But with the blue-robed man chasing the Demon Spirit King, the pressure on the others lightened a lot.

Finally, after just over the time it takes for one incense stick to burn,

From the breach came the joyful cry of a formation master: “It’s repaired! The array is fixed!”

“Then let’s fall back,” the nearby city residents said urgently.

Though everyone had fought desperately to hold off the demon spirits, two-thirds of those who came were already dead.

The rest were all injured and wouldn’t last much longer.

“I’ll cover the retreat. You go first,” Gao Zelong frowned and shouted, glancing at the wave of demon spirits closing in.

No one objected. Everyone fought as they retreated, slowly pulling away from the fortress.

The blue-robed man also returned, stepping through the air.

There were bloodstains on his clothes, and he threw a severed head to the ground.

Everyone looked closely and saw it was the head of the Demon Spirit King.

“You killed it?” someone asked in surprise.

“If it dares cross the fortress into our Phoenix Perch Empire, it must pay the price,” the blue-robed man replied calmly.

“Well done,” said Gao Zelong beside him.

He looked at the man with a slight bow and said, “Thank you, sir. If you hadn’t arrived in time, and let that Demon Spirit King take command, we would’ve been wiped out.”

“Just doing my duty,” the man in blue shook his head again.

Gao Zelong was silent for a moment, then asked, “How is the Tranquil Prince doing these days?”

The man in blue thought for a bit, then said, “He no longer involves himself in state affairs. He’s living a secluded life now. Quite well.”

“That’s good, that’s good,” Gao Zelong nodded quickly.

As they talked, everyone made their way back to Tranquil Heaven City.

When they reached the city gates, something felt off.

It was too quiet. The gates were wide open, and inside the city, there was complete silence.

This eerie stillness put everyone on edge.

They rushed into the city, and froze in place at the sight.

Corpses, entire streets filled with corpses.

Most were elderly, women, and children.

While they had been out risking their lives, the entire city had been slaughtered.

“Mother…”

“My daughter…”

……

One by one, cries of grief echoed. The survivors ran madly to their homes.

Even Gao Zelong’s body trembled as he walked toward the city lord’s mansion.

The wails of the grieving filled the air.

Only Xu Zimo and the blue-robed man remained at the scene.

The blue-robed man gave Xu Zimo a surprised look.

Xu Zimo shrugged, “I was just passing through. My family isn’t here.”

The man’s surprise deepened.

“Then why are you here?” the blue-robed man asked, puzzled.
