Chapter 74: Chapter 74 - Marriage?

Lucius opened his eyes to find trees much taller than himself surrounding him on all sides. A small group of animals began forming a circle around him. They seemed mainly passive; however, Lucius still looked wary of them, not approaching too closely and keeping his distance.

They didn’t look like any animals he recognized.

They were bigger and seemed much more threatening than those on Earth.

’Is this the elven forest?’ Lucius thought to himself, as the forest had a magical feeling to it and resembled most of the elven forests he had seen in movies.

Movies weren’t reality, but they seemed to have captured what those forests looked like; they were almost identical in this case.

Lucius wasn’t sure if those animals were trying to attack him, but none of them seemed aggressive. They looked from afar, not making any strange movements.

Lucius decided to take a chance and approach one of them, trying to escape this circle. As he got closer, the animal, twice Lucius’s size, moved out of the way while continuing to eye him strangely, observing his every movement, making sure not to miss anything. It was the same with the rest of them.

It was quite creepy, but Lucius was not trying to make enemies of those strange animals, as he had no idea if they could hurt him.

For all he knew, they might even be stronger than guns and bullets.

Minutes passed as Lucius continued to roam inside the giant forest. He had no idea where he was supposed to go. He had expected to appear in the middle of the Elven Kingdom, not in a forest in the middle of nowhere. He had no idea where to even begin.

However, what Lucius didn’t know was that for the past few minutes, he had been watched and followed by a few elves hiding in the trees, watching him from afar.

-Swooosh!

An arrow suddenly landed close to Lucius’s feet, immediately grabbing his attention. One of the many elves decided to reveal himself as he jumped down from the tree and walked toward Lucius with a clear frown on his face. Lucius remembered how Alicia had hated his guts the first time they met, and the gaze he received seemed even worse than that.

"What are you doing here, you pathetic human?" the elf asked, almost spitting at his feet. "You must know that the Elven Kingdom does not welcome humans."

Lucius wasn’t sure what to say, as he had a good idea that if he said he was there to meet with the princess, this elf would lose his mind right away and try to kill him.

Instead of mentioning the princess, Lucius decided to mention her father, the king.

"I’m here to seek an audience with the king. I need to speak to him about grave matters that could very well impact the Elven Kingdom and all its inhabitants."

"What is it?" the elf asked immediately. He seemed to believe the lies coming out of Lucius’s mouth right away, not even questioning them.

And for this to work, Lucius had no choice but to push this lie even further than he had planned.

"I’m sorry, but only the king can hear this. The intel I have is of the highest importance."

The elf frowned; however, he ended up nodding in the end, not even trying to force the answers out of Lucius.

"I see. However, we will have no choice but to blindfold and detain you until we reach the Elven Kingdom. I’m sure you understand the reasons."

Lucius mindlessly nodded as his hands were tied, and his eyes were blindfolded.

Then, a lot of time passed as he walked with a group of elves toward their Kingdom. Lucius couldn’t see anything and almost tripped on a few branches. Finally, they reached the Elven Kingdom, and the blindfold came off as he arrived inside a place that looked frankly magical.

There were houses built into the trees; the mixture of nature and infrastructure was unlike anything he had seen before. Lucius absolutely loved it and couldn’t help but stare at it for a few seconds before receiving a slap to the back of his head, reminding him why he was there.

"If we find out that you have lied, then you will die," the elf said, disapproving of how Lucius was acting.

Lucius seemed to be in the plaza as many elves looked at him with curiosity and disdain. Nevertheless, a few seconds later, they reached the castle and waited before it, seeking an audience with the King of the Elves.

They were granted one fairly quickly as the massive doors of the castle began to open for them. A long hallway was revealed, and at the end of it stood three thrones of different sizes. The middle one was the biggest and belonged to the king, while the two others were a little smaller and belonged to the queen and the princess.

How did Lucius know?

Because he recognized the person sitting on the throne of the princess. It was someone he had seen naked many times in the past. It was Alicia, her eyes widening as she watched who had entered the castle.

Still, she kept her mouth shut as she noticed the little smile Lucius gave her. She believed he must have had a plan for coming all the way there. He couldn’t have decided to come just because he wanted her back, right?

The guards forced Lucius to his knees as they began explaining the situation.

They talked about how they had found Lucius and everything that had happened afterward. The King of Elves frowned throughout it all, keeping his gaze on Lucius with clear disdain.

"Speak, human. What is so important that you had to come all the way here in person?"

Lucius, who had lied, just smiled as his gaze landed on the king’s daughter, Alicia.

"It’s quite simple. I wish to marry your daughter, Alicia Amastacia."
