Chapter 73: Chapter 73 - Security Upgrade

As the messages from the system kept piling up, Lucius’s grin also became bigger and bigger as he couldn’t help but look at the amount of Universal Gold Coins that he had acquired over time.

He had reached far more Universal Gold Coins than he had aimed for, and he wasn’t one to complain about such a great achievement. It was more than he could have ever expected, and all of that was because of the discovery he had made about the Multiverse and the online platform they had.

He should have probably used it in the past, but those were ’ifs,’ and they were already way past that stage.

Lucius didn’t waste any time as he immediately asked the system to upgrade the security system of the store.

It hurt him to see 100,000 Universal Gold Coins leave his reserve. But having 900,000 left made it much easier for Lucius to handle. It was much more manageable.

[You have upgraded the security of the store.]

[The time required for the upgrade to be complete is one day.]

[While your store is being upgraded, the security will also decrease in the process. Please be careful at all times while in the upgrade process.]

Lucius noticed the warning and took it very seriously, as he knew that Axel was still roaming and could be coming back at any given time. He asked Lilith to keep an eye on this as he decided to go and get a good night’s sleep.

He didn’t even want to be bothered by anyone. He just wanted to get a good night’s sleep, as it had been quite some time since he had felt this tired. The day had been long, and he had managed to accomplish everything he had aimed for.

Lucius couldn’t help but be proud of himself.

Tomorrow, once the upgrade was over, Lucius would finally be using a system feature that consisted of teleporting to another world. He would be going to Alicia’s world so that he could take her back.

He had no idea just how hard it would be, and he really hoped that nothing would happen to his store while he was gone. But he couldn’t abandon Alicia, his very customer and employee.

Lucius closed his eyes, and ten hours later, he opened them again out of force because of some very loud noises coming from downstairs.

"We’re closed! We told you already. Leave here, or we will have no choice but to kick you out!"

It was Lilith. She was shouting at customers from the looks of it.

"We want to speak with the owner!"

Lucius had a good idea of what was happening. It seemed that there were a bunch of people who had decided to come to kill him again. It seemed Axel had made things even worse than in the past. Lucius sighed as he went downstairs with a frown on his face; he wasn’t interested in having fun with those thugs. Last night had been plenty.

He arrived behind Lilith and pushed her aside with a tired look in his eyes.

"What do you want?"

The thug tried to pull Lucius by grabbing onto his shirt and pulling, but he didn’t move a single inch.

"What is it with you stupid thugs pulling my shirt?" Lucius muttered as he looked up and didn’t waste time; he punched that man dead in the face, breaking his nose instantly.

"Huh?! What the fuck, man? Why did you punch me?"

"Aren’t you all here to kill me? Fuck off before I’m the one who kills you all."

They all started running away as fast as they could out of the alley. However, it only took a few more hours for another group to arrive. They had the same goal as the one from before, and they got a taste of Lucius’s fists, which made them leave at once.

One thing was sure... it would be quite a long day since the door was getting changed because of the security update, which meant that Lucius had no choice but to stand in front of his store, sitting on a chair, practically sleeping.

Over the course of the day, more than five groups had arrived to try and kill Lucius. But, obviously, none of them managed to do it, as there was no longer anything that could harm Lucius. After all, even guns had failed to pierce his skin.

Then, after some more time, he finally received a message from the system.

[Your security update is finally completed.]

[Your store is now secure from unwanted customers.]

[Any customers with a weapon will be immediately denied entry. Any customers with bad intentions will instantly be kicked out of the store.]

Lucius wondered how the second upgrade was possible, but he didn’t ask too many questions. After all, this store was magical in the first place, so they probably used some strange spell from another world.

Anyway, with those upgrades, Lucius was reassured that there would be no incidents while he was gone to get Alicia back from her family.

"I guess it’s time to say goodbye!" he said to Aphrodite and Lilith, who were pouting, sad that Lucius would be leaving for a long period of time. After all, they wanted him to stay and spend some more time with them.

Nevertheless, they all exchanged very tight hugs with each other as they also muttered some pretty naughty things in Lucius’s ears in the process.

"I’ll make sure to be ready for your return..."

"I’ll train until you come back! I’ll be the best you’ve ever had."

The two of them teased him until the very last second, making it even more complicated for Lucius to calm himself.

Nevertheless, he turned away from the two beauties and steeled his mind. It was time to leave for Alicia’s world, AB-2143.

He opened his system and prepared for teleportation.

[You will be teleported to the world AB-2143 in 30 seconds.]

Then, a countdown appeared, quickly going down. And once the 30 seconds were up, Lucius disappeared from the store and reappeared in the middle of a very big forest, surrounded by a few animals.
