Chapter 71 - A Monster

Chapter 71: Chapter 71 - A Monster

They formed one big circle around Lucius as each of them began pulling out a weapon of some kind. However, none of them had guns for the simple reason that they didn’t want anyone to come snooping around after shooting.

They were also convinced that they could not lose against him. They were certainly much stronger than he was and had way better odds of winning against one man who didn’t even look properly trained in fighting.

Some had baseball bats, some had their fists, and others had metal bars. One thing was sure: if a normal human were in the middle of this circle, his fate would be sealed without a doubt. Luckily, that wasn’t the case as Lucius began smiling when they pulled out their weapons.

"Boss... is this guy crazy?"

"I think he’s retarded."

"Why is he laughing when he’s about to get his ass kicked?"

The thugs all began to frown as they watched Lucius laugh like a madman.

They all wondered why he looked so confident right now. There was no reason for him to be so confident. He was outnumbered; he had no weapons to help him. His fate was clearly sealed, but even then... he was confident that he could win.

"C-Careful, guys, he’s definitely stronger than he looks." The man who had gotten his ankle grabbed and pulled muttered those words as he could no longer stand. When Lucius had pulled his legs, he had made sure to inflict as much damage as possible on the thug as he twisted his ankle discreetly, making sure that he would no longer be able to fight.

Without saying another word, the atmosphere grew even heavier as everyone stopped talking and making jokes. The boss gave everyone a look, a signal of some kind.

’Let’s see... who will strike first,’ Lucius thought as he stood in the middle while yawning a little.

"ARGH!" The man behind him ran up to him as he swung his baseball bat behind his back, putting all of his strength behind it as he attacked Lucius, aiming straight for the top of his head.

The man thought it was a done deal when he saw that Lucius was not even having the slightest reaction to his movements; he continued to yawn as if there was no real threat aimed at him.

-Scratch!

"H-How is that possible?"

Lucius just smiled as he saw half of the baseball bat land at his feet. He had just been struck on the head as hard as possible by one of the thugs. However, he had barely felt anything, maybe a little pinch, but it was nothing worrying as he bent down and tried picking up the wooden piece from the ground.

"My turn!" Another one holding onto a metal pipe shouted as he did the same thing, swinging as hard as he could at the back of Lucius’s head.

The back of the head was the best place to aim since it would knock out and gravely hurt anyone. However, everyone but Lucius continued to smile as he felt the metal pipe against his head.

The man’s eyes widened as he noticed that the only thing that had gotten hurt was the metal pipe, which was now perfectly bent in the shape of Lucius’s neck and back of head. It was mind-blowing; they could all hardly believe it because of how supernatural such a thing was.

The thugs all began to realize that maybe this fight would be a little harder than they had expected. They all turned a lot more serious than before, putting slightly more strength into their hands that held weapons.

"What the hell are you made of?!"

Lucius didn’t reply as he grabbed half of the baseball bat with a smile.

"That was pretty cute," he muttered as he looked at it. "Can I start now?" Lucius grinned as if he were a demon in person, slowly beginning to walk toward the person who had just struck the back of his head.

The man was scared out of his mind, his hands shaking, almost on the verge of dropping the metal pipe. "H-Help me! I didn’t sign up for this shit! You all told me that it would be a breeze, not that we would be fighting against a literal monster."

"On my count!" The boss suddenly said as he realized that he had gravely misjudged his opponent. There was a reason that there was a 50 million bounty on top of his head. He was much stronger than anyone they had seen in their lives. "3... 2... 1... GO!"

All of them swung at the same time, all aiming for Lucius’s back. They hoped that by hitting his back at the same time, it would finally cause a little bit of damage. However, half of the thugs had realized by now that weapons like that wouldn’t work on Lucius.

They all swung, and every single weapon either bent, broke, or simply didn’t do the slightest damage.

"What is his body even made of? Metal?!" one of them shouted as they couldn’t believe their eyes.

There was only one thing that they could try next. They hadn’t wanted to use it, but it was the last option and 50 million was on the line. They had no choice but to do it.

The boss of the thugs pulled out a gun.

"You’re going to listen to us from now on, you fucking monster!" he said with a frown on his face as Lucius stopped instantly upon hearing a "click" coming from the gun.

He turned around as the guy he was trying to attack immediately began running as far as possible.

Lucius looked at the gun and grinned. He was happy that they had pulled one out, as he was almost excited to see what kind of damage it could cause to his body. He didn’t want to take too high of a gamble, so he stood still and raised both of his hands.

"That’s right. You’re right to be scared. Now, you’ll do as I say or I’ll shoot you in the leg." The man smirked as Lucius nodded like a good little puppet. "Perfect, put your hands behind your back."

Lucius didn’t do it.

"PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK!"

He didn’t listen, just standing there.

The thug’s patience ran thin and... the inevitable happened.

-BANG!
