Chapter 70: Chapter 70 - Visit
Lucius smiled as the entire operation had now been upgraded like never before. His entire chain of production had literally doubled in one hour.
The crafting stations had arrived extremely fast since they had ordered from a reputable source on the Multiverse Delivery Market, which made things a lot easier as a whole since they only had to wait for the upgrade to be completed, which was completely handled by the system. The only problem now was having a pitiful amount of Universal Gold Coins.
He only had 3,000 left.
It was a lot of money on Earth. But that wasn’t the case in the multiverse. 3,000 Universal Gold Coins was barely enough to buy anything even remotely interesting, at least in large quantities.
It was good enough to try some things, but it wasn’t good enough for a business like Lucius’s.
With this increase in production, it would not be a problem at all to reach the desired amount of items necessary. This meant that Lucius wouldn’t have anyone visiting him from the Multiverse Officials. Well, as long as everything went according to plan.
A few hours had passed, and things were going quite smoothly. They had already managed to craft the amount of Love Potions needed for the online orders, and they were now starting to craft Erotic Perfumes.
They were lucky that the store was supplying all the ingredients for free since it made things a lot easier, as they were selling their products without any cost of production except time. They were making 100% profit on every single sale they were making.
But then, as Lucius continued to observe the production, he heard multiple knocks at the door of his store.
He had closed it for obvious reasons. But it seemed that someone from Earth wanted to visit at such a time.
It was already past midnight.
However, Lucius didn’t make a big deal out of it. He simply didn’t answer the door, believing that it was probably one of Emy’s crazy fans trying to come into the store.
One minute passed.
Two minutes...
Three...
The knocking was not stopping.
Lucius sighed as he started to get really annoyed by this behavior. He told everyone to keep working while he checked out what was happening at the door.
Lilith and Aphrodite had already gone to sleep a while back, which meant that Lucius was the only one who would be able to defend the store if someone was trying to get in. He was the only one who had the capabilities to do such a thing.
Lucius walked toward the door. He wasn’t scared since he was much more powerful than any normal human, having acquired the strength of three beings from other worlds, two of whom were quite powerful goddesses.
Still, as he got close to the door, he started feeling that something was strange about this whole situation...
It was already past midnight... no one remotely normal would be coming to knock on the door at such an hour.
And while Lucius had initially believed that it was simply one of Emy’s fans, as he got closer to the door, he took a peek and saw someone who didn’t fit the image of Emy’s fans. He was bulky, had tattoos, and his face didn’t seem like someone who listened to pop music at all.
There was definitely something strange about all this.
Lucius started to think that maybe it was Axel acting up again...
And that’s when Lucius believed he was about to have some fun again by opening the door.
He cracked his knuckles as he got closer to the door and opened it wide with a big grin on his face.
"Hello, what can I do for you?"
The tattooed man just grinned back and said, "Hey, I heard you were selling some cool things inside. If possible, could I buy something?"
Lucius turned around and clicked his tongue. When he turned back, the tattooed man was no longer alone; a bunch of his friends had appeared on both sides of the alley out of nowhere as Lucius was grabbed by the neck and thrown outside of his store into the alley where everyone had been waiting.
"Is it really this guy?" one of the thugs asked as he licked his lips. "50M$ for such a weak guy. I don’t know what that guy was smoking, but this is a nice paycheck!"
Lucius, who was on the ground, acting like it had hurt, heard someone mention 50 million dollars, and that’s when he understood that Axel had put a price on his head.
He had finally thrown in the towel and decided to let someone competent enough finish the job. However... money wouldn’t fix things here; Lucius was not someone who could be dealt with normally anymore.
Lucius, still on the ground, tried to stand up as one of the thugs kicked him in the stomach.
"Did we need to bring him back alive?" they asked.
"Mhm... it was written that we would get a bonus if we did. So, we might as well."
The boss of the thugs seemed to be the tattooed guy from earlier, just from his demeanor.
"Still, before we leave, we should complete the second part of the job. We need to destroy that store to make sure that it will never be able to do business ever again."
That’s when Lucius stopped acting as he began trying to stand up again. When the guy from earlier tried to kick him in the stomach, Lucius just grabbed his foot and pulled on it as hard as possible, making him fall to the ground.
"I’m sorry, but... I don’t think that’s gonna be possible," Lucius said with a grin as he stood before the boss of the thugs.
"And you think that you can stop us?" he started laughing. "We’re over ten people in this small alley and you’re..." He looked around, trying to see if there was anything that could help him. "...alone."
