Chapter 99: Dinner With Your Husband

Lyse was still reeling from the recent events. Finding out that Jean Pierre had died in police custody had come as a shock. The official report had been cited as heart failure and even though his medical report stated that he had no history of the disease, the police were not trying to investigate further.

Lyse could tell that Levi felt that the death was not as clear cut as the police evidence suggested but when she tried to talk about it, he waved it aside.

She was grateful for the fact that somehow, the media had no knowledge about what had happened with her and Jean Pierre, and Lyse knew that Levi was responsible for that. He had been a constant source of support. He had reassured her, calmed her fears, and now, he was taking matters into his own hands.

"I have arranged a private showcase for your designs," Levi announced, a determined glint in his eyes. "We are going to present your collection to a select group of influential buyers and fashion editors."

Lyse was stunned. "But how? How did you pull this off so quickly?"

"I have been working without your knowledge and your assistant has also been assisting," Levi explained. "She has been a great help. All you have to do is show up and look fabulous."

"You did not have to do that." Lyse said, her voice soft.

"If anything happened to you while you are in my care I would not be able to take it." Levi said as he looked into her eyes.

Lyse was overwhelmed with gratitude. She had never imagined that Levi would go to such lengths to help her. "Thank you so much, Levi," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "You have done so much for me."

"Don’t you know that I will do anything for you?" Levi said softly as he brushed away her hair. Lyse stared at him, her breath catching in her chest.

"Now, we need to get you ready for the showcase." Levi said, breaking the spell that had been over Lyse.

"When is it?" She asked curiously.

"Tomorrow." Levi announced and Lyse shrieked.

"Tomorrow?"

"Yes, your assistant has taken care of everything. All you need to do is show up." Levi assured her with a chuckle as she jumped up in a panic.

The day of the showcase arrived, and Lyse was a bundle of nerves. She had spent countless hours perfecting her designs, and now it was time to unveil them to the world. As she stepped onto the stage, she felt a surge of confidence. She knew that she was ready.

Moreover, she could not afford to disappoint Levi. He had gone out on a limb for her and she needed to brace herself for what was to come.

The show was a resounding success, more than she had hoped for. The small audience was captivated by Lyse’s innovative designs, and the buyers were eager to place orders. After the show, Lyse was inundated with compliments and congratulations. She felt a sense of accomplishment that she had never experienced before.

As she was being interviewed by a television reporter, she could not help but think of how far she had come. From having her big dreams being dashed to being on the way to being a renowned fashion designer. And it was all thanks to Levi, who had always believed in her.

After the interview, Lyse emerged from the green room. She saw Levi waiting for her, a smile on his face and a massive bouquet of pink roses which he handed to her.

Lyse inhaled the fragrance of the flowers and blushed.

"You did amazing, Lyse, I expected nothing less." he said, as he leaned close to her and placed a kiss on her cheek. "I am so proud of you."

Lyse smiled back. "Thank you, Levi. I could not have done all of this without you."

After that, he took her hand and led her to a car. "Where are we going?" Lyse asked.

"Dinner with your husband." Levi smiled as he settled in beside her.

As they drove, Lyse could not help but feel a sense of wonder. She had never imagined that her life could be so extraordinary.

Next would be competition and she was looking forward to showing what she had in stock.

The car came to a stop in front of the city’s most exclusive, a place of elegance and sophistication where only the elite dined at and the reservation list was a mile long. He came down and opened the door for Lyse, his hand tenderly leading her out of the car.

When the doors were opened to them and she was ushered in, Lyse was shocked to see that the entire restaurant was empty, apparently reserved just for them. As they sat down, a waiter approached their table, presenting them with a menu.

"Don’t worry about that," Levi said, dismissing the waiter. "I have already ordered."

A few moments later, a series of dishes began to arrive. Each dish was a masterpiece, a culinary delight. Lyse could hardly believe her eyes. She had never tasted anything so delicious.

As they dined, they talked about their dreams, their hopes, and everything except their relationship. The atmosphere was intimate and romantic. Lyse felt a sense of peace and contentment that she had never experienced before.

Levi was attentive the whole time and even though there was no audience, he kissed her hands several times and stared lovingly at her as if the stars shone in her eyes.

She wondered about where they were headed towards. She realized that when it was time for them to part ways, she would miss Levi a lot. As she stared at his refined and handsome face, she wondered about his denial about Anya.

She wanted to believe that he was being honest. He had shown with his actions that he cared for her but she feared that he did it only so that she would be loyal to him and be content being his wife.

But on the other hand, why would a man like him need to lie to her? They both knew that theirs was a contract and there was no promise to her for loyalty. However, a part of her was fearful after what had happened to Brandon.

It was said that lightning did not strike the same place twice but she needed to guard her heart from falling for the same mistake again.
