Chapter 94: Level 10 Energy Cannon
Chapter 94: Level 10 Energy Cannon
A colossal claw penetrated the hull of the spaceship with ease.
"Dang it, my battleship!"
Inside the battleship, the sergeant roared in rage. His fierce eyes shimmered with desperation as he ordered, "Everyone, you get outta here. I’m gonna blow this ship to give it a blast."
Hearing this, the other spaceships and mechas quickly retreated, trying to dissuade him, "Don’t be rash! Get to the safety pod. We can still blast it from here."
"A captain goes down with his ship. If anyone dares to hurt my battleship, they’re gonna pay. Goodbye, everyone."
"No, don’t!"
BOOM!
The explosion from the medium-sized battleship illuminated the entire star system.
Yuri turned his head towards the site of the explosion. All she could see were raging flames and a massive insectoid creature amidst the fire.
The surrounding battleships and mechas were caught off guard, swept away by the wave of energy. Yet the level eight insectoid at the center of the explosion remained unscathed, save for a few minor scratches.
"Is its defense really this strong?" Yuri muttered to herself.
The level eight insectoid shook its body, shedding the dust and ashes before it charged towards another battleship.
Officer Lyao and his team, who had been thrown by the explosion, returned, their mechas wielding energy blades and surrounding the insectoid.
Roar!
A look of disdain and mockery filled the golden eyes of the level eight insectoid.
Before Officer Lyao even had a chance to attack, lightning-fast claws ripped through their mechas.
The sturdy mechas were torn apart, the pilots inside injured, blood flowing freely.
"Such speed," Yuri marveled, almost unconsciously moving towards the insectoid.
Half of the mechas were wiped out by a single swipe of the insectoid’s claws.
Officer Lyao gripped his energy blade and said, "Tuss, get Yuri out of here."
With that, he charged at the massive body of the level eight insectoid. His emerald mecha was as swift as a flash of lightning, but still slower than the insectoid. He was caught in its claw.
The insectoid’s claw tightened, threatening to crush the mecha.
Officer Lyao was in excruciating pain, on the verge of passing out.
Just when he thought he would be crushed to a pulp, the claw suddenly loosened.
There was a sound of flesh being cut. Whose was it?
Officer Lyao was confused.
The next second, he heard an ear-piercing roar. Then, he was thrown aside by the insectoid.
Officer Lyao rolled a long distance before a soldier managed to stop him.
"Your mecha is destroyed. I’m going to take you back to the battleship," said the soldier.
Officer Lyao wanted to ask who had saved him, but he couldn’t utter a word as blood kept pouring from his mouth.
Only after he had been given a stimulant on the battleship did he regain enough strength to say, "Quick, I need to get to the command center. I need to see what’s happening on the battlefield—"
"You can see from here." The nurse said, turning on a live feed.
Upon seeing the two red and green mechas on the screen, Officer Lyao coughed up more blood, "Foolish. Didn’t I tell them to leave?"
At that moment, Yuri had no idea that she had upset Officer Lyao to the point of vomiting blood. She was putting all her psychic power to use, her focus peaked as it had never before.
She controlled her mecha, moving swiftly, but was still occasionally hit by the level eight insectoid’s claws and long tail. If she hadn’t reinforced her mecha’s body with Enova, it would have long since been torn to pieces.
However, her situation wasn’t all that great either.
The colossal force of the hits was agonizing, and she sustained numerous internal injuries.
Tuss was faring even worse than Yuri, considering he had been in continuous combat for over eight hours. Having used up all his Enova, he was now relying on his physical strength and his pheromones.
"Throw out all those metal blades you made earlier," Yuri instructed.
With a grunt of acknowledgment, Tuss tossed hundreds of thin metal blades out of his mecha.
The metal blades floated in the cosmic sea, ignored by the level eight insectoid. What it found most annoying at that moment was the persistent iron mecha in front of it. Despite the mecha’s small size, it was cunning and hard to shake off. Especially its blade, which had pierced the insectoid’s beautiful exterior. That was unforgivable.
The level eight insectoid was seething with rage.
Its long tail swept continually, blocking any mecha or battleship that attempted to approach.
"I’m going to use my psychic power to attack its head. You target its eyes and also send your pheromones into its nostrils. Got it?" Yuri directed.
Tuss grunted in response, "Okay."
"You’ll become a target then. It’s very dangerous. Remember to run fast," Yuri warned.
"Just do what you need to do," Tuss replied.
"Alright. So, now, go."
At that very moment, Yuri’s psychic power, on the brink of breaking through to level five, concentrated into a giant blade and stabbed at the insectoid’s head.
In the split second that the insectoid was lost in pain, she and Tuss moved. Yuri swung a blade at the insectoid’s body while controlling hundreds of blades to penetrate the insectoid from the wound. Tuss suddenly appeared in front of the insectoid, releasing pheromones like crazy to send them to the insectoid’s nostrils while stabbing its eye with an energy blade.
Roar!
The level eight insectoid was furious to the extreme, its two claws swiftly swiped at Tuss.
"Get out of the way!" Yuri shouted, once again projecting her psychic power into the insectoid’s brain.
The insectoid’s movements paused ever so slightly. This slight delay was barely noticeable to the naked eye, but Tuss seized the opportunity. As the gigantic claws came swiping, he dodged, and only one of his mecha’s legs was shattered.
Yuri took this chance and successfully drove half of her blade into the insectoid’s body.
The hardness of the insectoid’s muscles was not much lesser than its exterior. Even with the Enova wrapping, it took a considerable amount of effort for Yuri to plunge half her blade into it.
But half was enough.
Yuri snapped the half that was left outside, but before she could retreat, she was caught by the long tail.
Well, that’s not good. She couldn’t move at all.
"Hey, warriors nearby, listen up. Retreat as far as you can. I’m going to use the level ten energy cannon," Yuri declared on the public chat channel, using Enova to control the blades and broken knife inside the level eight insectoid, destroying its body continuously.
"Yuri, don’t be reckless," Officer Lyao pleaded.
"Yuri, no. You can’t do this," Tuss voiced out hoarsely, trying to rush forward, but his mecha’s power system had completely broken down, rendering it immobile.
The long tail kept tightening. Yuri braced both sides of her mecha with her hands, preventing it from being crushed.
"I can’t hold on any longer, I’ll count to three, then fire immediately. One, two, three."
As soon as she finished speaking, the level ten energy cannon, carrying a destructive power, hit right into the wound on the level eight insectoid that Yuri had ripped and shredded.
The level ten energy cannon exploded inside the level eight insectoid, blood and flesh flying everywhere. Within a radius of ten miles, everything was affected by the powerful energy wave. Countless insectoids froze in place, some even dying on the spot.
Thanks to Yuri’s warning, the human mechas and battleships had moved to a relatively safe distance, but they were still rocked by the energy wave, leaving them feeling sick and dizzy.
