I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 95: Save Yuri First
Chapter 95: Save Yuri First
The might of the Level 10 energy cannon was not only felt by the warriors present, but even the people watching on their screens felt the shockwave. Their bodies uncontrollably leaned backward, and the more timid ones even took a few steps back.
At the center of the energy cannon explosion, a blood mist obscured all sight. Is that woman named Yuri still alive? Under such strong explosion, will anything be left of her?
For a moment, everyone felt a heaviness in their chests, a stifling feeling as if a boulder lay atop their hearts, and a sour sting at the tips of their noses. Will such a powerful and kind person have vanished just like that?
On Planet 165, Ender and his friends who had gathered to watch the live broadcast had tears welling in their eyes. Daleks was crying openly, his fists clenched, his body shaking uncontrollably.
"I hadn’t even repaid her kindness. She can’t be in trouble," murmured Daleks, unable to utter a particular word.
Upon hearing this, Ender couldn’t hold back his tears either, "Such a good person shouldn’t meet this kind of end."
Kilana silently wiped away her tears, her eyes fixated on the screen, searching desperately for that familiar figure.
Inside the warship, Officer Lyao, watching this scene, coughed up blood again. His bloodshot eyes stared intently at the blood mist. He commanded those beside him, "Bring Tuss here."
"Yes, sir." A subordinate quickly departed.
In less than three minutes, two soldiers brought an unconscious Tuss into the room.
"What happened to him?" Officer Lyao asked through gritted teeth.
"His mecha broke down, he couldn’t move. He refused to be carried off and insisted on charging toward the center of the explosion. He was hit by the energy wave."
"Or perhaps it was heartbreak, too much sorrow in his heart. He couldn’t handle it and passed out."
Upon hearing this, Officer Lyao pressed his lips together, falling silent.
Gradually, the blood mist dispersed, and the fleeing mechas and warships returned to the scene.
"Quick, look, there’s something over there," someone suddenly shouted on the public chat channel.
"Huh, it kind of looks like Yuri’s mecha, doesn’t it?"
"How can you tell? It’s completely unrecognizable."
"Quickly, get Yuri’s mecha back to the warship. As fast as possible!" Officer Lyao roared, his voice trembling. Ignoring his own injuries, he got off the medical bed and quickly walked toward the hatch.
At the same time, Tuss seemed to jolt awake at the sound of Yuri’s name. He scrambled up from the floor, rolling and crawling his way to the hatch.
Just as he arrived, the piece of metal suspected to be Yuri’s mecha was brought into the warship.
The mecha’s outer shell was melted, almost entirely fused together.
"How do we open this?" someone asked.
Before the question could be answered, Tuss ripped open the heavy, melted outer shell of the mecha with his bare hands.
Veins bulged on his face, clearly putting in a lot of effort.
Even so, the sight of someone tearing through a thick piece of metal bare-handed was absolutely shocking.
But soon, no one paid any attention to that. Their focus was completely captured by the person inside the mecha.
A bloody figure lay there.
Drenched in red from head to toe, they could see no other color.
Tuss’s heart clenched as if being seized, causing his entire body to spasm in pain. Is she still alive?
He placed his trembling hand on Yuri’s nose. The next second, he cried out with a voice that tore at the air, "She’s alive! Quickly, get a doctor!"
Hearing this, Officer Lyao’s body went limp, quickly supported by a quick-reacting soldier nearby.
"Get the best doctor here," he commanded loudly.
"Yes, sir."
Tuss carefully lifted Yuri from the mecha and placed her on the stretcher that the soldiers had brought.
By then, the soldiers who had left to fetch help had returned. Each was holding a doctor by the arm. "Sir. The best doctors are here."
"Check her injuries immediately," Officer Lyao ordered.
The two doctors, seeing Yuri’s blood-soaked body, didn’t complain about the soldiers’ brusqueness. They quickly stepped forward to examine her.
"Uncle Lyao, why are you taking my doctors away?" Saina ran after them, immediately complaining.
"If you need a doctor, you can find someone else." Officer Lyao didn’t even glance at Saina. His eyes were focused solely on Yuri on the stretcher.
"But these doctors were checking on my grandfather first," Saina pouted. Along with her beautiful face, she looked adorably stubborn.
But right now, everyone’s attention was on Yuri, and nobody appreciated her antics.
"I told you to get another doctor," Officer Lyao replied, his voice filled with impatience.
"Why should I? She’s just a Level 7 sergeant. My grandfather is a commander. Does she even deserve to compete with my grandfather for the doctors?" Saina’s anger flared up, and she reached out to pull the doctors away, but Tuss blocked her.
The two doctors looked uncomfortably at Officer Lyao and said, "Sir, this—"
"Save her first. Even if the commander is injured, you must save her first." Officer Lyao’s words were biting, his expression intense.
The two doctors were stunned by his words, so was everyone else. Has Officer Lyao lost his mind? Is he really going to offend the Second Commander for Yuri?
Not only those present were stunned, but even the people watching over the interstellarnet were shocked.
"Understandable that Officer Lyao is anxious for his life-saver, but it’s better not to say such things, it could affect his career."
"But he dares to challenge the Second Commander. He’s so tough, so strong, so cool."
"I worry that his words might cause trouble for Yuri. What if the Second Commander begins to harbor resentment towards Yuri, and causes trouble for her?"
"Who cares, let’s make sure she stays alive first."
"Regardless, save Yuri first, I agree."
"I agree too."
"Look at that woman who came chasing after them. Her makeup is intact, her eyes are not red, it shows that the injuries of the Second Commander are not severe. Any doctor can handle it. So, I agree, save Yuri first."
"...."
The doctors wheeled Yuri away for an examination, closing the doors to the ward. Despite her discontent, Saina could not barge in to pull the doctors out.
"Uncle Lyao, you’ve really disappointed me. I’m going to tell Grandpa about this," Saina said.
Officer Lyao sat on the bench, waving her off nonchalantly. "Go ahead."
Saina huffed angrily, stamped her foot, and stormed off.
The ward was closed, but the discussion regarding the incident remained heated.
Back on Planet 165, Ender and the others were slumped exhaustedly on the couch.
"Yuri will be okay, right?" Daleks asked.
Vernon patted him on the shoulder, reassuring him, "Trust in the technology of the Alliance. As long as she’s still breathing, the doctors won’t let her die."
Hearing this, Daleks exhaled heavily. "As long as she’s alive, that’s all that matters."
"I’ve never seen Uncle Lyao care so much about a person before," Hoolin sighed with a hint of bitterness in his tone. "I always thought the person he cared about most was my grandfather."
Everyone else was silent, looking at each other, not sure how to respond to Hoolin’s comment.
"Has Officer Lyao ever been married?" Vernon suddenly asked.
Hoolin shook his head. "No."
"Oh no, he’s not trying to move in on Tuss’s turf, is he?" Vernon’s eyes widened in surprise.
Daleks, Kilana, and Ender exchanged glances, each of them sensing a crisis. Is Officer Lyao trying to steal their Yuri?
Outside the ward, after everyone else had left, only Officer Lyao and Tuss remained.
"Didn’t I tell you to take her away?" Officer Lyao’s voice was low as he growled at Tuss.
Tuss gave him a nonchalant glance. "I couldn’t."
"Useless." Officer Lyao scoffed.
Tuss didn’t retort. Yes, I am indeed quite useless. I couldn’t even protect my own beta.
