I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 93: The Decisive Moment
Chapter 93: The Decisive Moment
Officer Lyao rapidly issued a sequence of orders before rushing out of the control room, heading straight for the spaceship’s exit. It looked like he was about to engage in battle.
"It’s dangerous out there," Yuri cautioned.
"I know," Officer Lyao replied, his steps unchanging in their determination.
"I’m coming too," Yuri stated.
"You can’t," Officer Lyao and Tuss said simultaneously.
"Fine, I won’t get too close. I’m more suitable for this than you guys," Yuri sighed, exasperation written across her face.
Looking at Tuss, Officer Lyao said, "You can go, but if anything goes south, Tuss, you take her out of there. Far away. Back to Planet Alpha."
"Yes, sir," Tuss responded loudly.
Within five minutes, every warrior on the battlefield knew that a level seven insectoid had appeared on the field where the Second Commander was battling with the level eight insectoids. The level seven one was known for its control over psychic power.
The soldiers felt a chill run down their spines.
These two insectoids together spelled doom; no one could possibly withstand them.
News of the impending sneak attack on the Second Commander by the level seven insectoid spread not only among the soldiers but also among people reading the news online. They even tagged the official Alliance Military website.
Ironically, the last one to discover this was the Second Commander himself.
Distracted by his fight with the level eight insectoid, he had no time to spare. It wasn’t until a wave of psychic force assaulted him, causing such intense pain that he nearly lost his ability to move, that he realized the danger. Without hesitation, he piloted his mecha away from the battlefield.
But he was a little too slow. Perhaps it was only a millisecond too late, but the level eight insectoid seized the opportunity, slapping him towards the direction of the level seven insectoid.
Meanwhile, the fast-arriving Officer Lyao and a few SS-tier Alphas aimed at the level seven and eight insectoids, unleashing a barrage of fire from a distance.
The two insectoids managed to dodge every single blast, incredibly evading them all.
By the time Yuri and Tuss arrived, Officer Lyao and his team had been in battle for a while, and a few medium and small battleships had joined the fight.
"Officer Lyao and his team are so fast," Yuri sighed. She had thought she and Tuss were fast enough, but compared to Officer Lyao and his team, she realized there were levels upon levels.
"They’ve been practicing their precise movements for decades. It’s normal for them to be faster," Tuss said, his calm tone hiding a yearning.
"But the insectoids are even faster," Yuri sighed again.
The heavy fire prevented the insectoids from rushing at Officer Lyao and the rest. However, Officer Lyao and his team were unable to harm the insectoids either.
In this stalemate, the Second Commander was in grave danger.
Wave after wave of psychic force was assaulting him. His Sea of Consciousness was on the brink. He wanted to retreat, but the level eight insectoid was hot on his heels, preventing him from escaping.
"Don’t stop me, I need to save him."
A red mecha appeared on the battlefield. The pilot wasn’t just anyone—it was the Second Commander’s partner and spouse, Mrs. Nekal.
Looking at the black mecha in the distance, Mrs. Nekal pleaded with a desperate expression, "He can’t hold on much longer. Let me go to him."
"It’s too dangerous for you to go now. The commander would never want you to risk your life," the alpha blocking Mrs. Nekal tried to reason with her.
"I don’t care about the danger. Even if it means death, I want to die with him. Do you not understand the fate of a beta without her alpha? It’s a fate worse than death," Mrs. Nekal sobbed.
Touched by her words, the alpha let Mrs. Nekal go. The very next second, she charged into the battlefield without a second thought.
Her red mecha was fierce and agile, weaving through the heavy gunfire. Instead of heading towards the black mecha, she dashed straight towards the level seven insectoid.
What’s she planning? Every heart on the field was in their throats. Yes, Mrs. Nekal is an SS-tier beta, but that is a level seven insectoid.
The Second Commander noticed his wife. Instantly, he spun his black mecha around, aiming for the level seven insectoid too.
"Would the turmoil in an alpha’s Sea of Consciousness affect insectoids?" Yuri wondered.
"It can, but not significantly," Tuss replied, frowning, "The level eight insectoid is heading towards Officer Lyao and his team."
"It’s so fast! I can barely trace its path with psychic power," Yuri exclaimed.
"Officer Lyao and his team can’t see it either. They’re relying on battle instinct and decades of honed predictive skills," Tuss explained, "But instinct and predictive skills can often be wrong."
Soon, not just the level eight insectoid, some mid-level and even low-level insectoids also charged over.
"Are they planning to wipe us out in one fell swoop?"
"Or maybe we’re about to wipe them out instead."
"The decisive moment is here. Let’s go."
Almost without needing the commander’s order, soldiers from all directions began to converge.
"The number of insectoids is nearly six times that of the soldiers," Yuri noted, her face serious.
"A single insectoid queen can lay tens of thousands, even millions of eggs at once. There are so many insectoids, their home can’t contain them all. That’s why they invade and expand everywhere," Tuss explained.
Yuri nodded in understanding. No wonder the Alliance’s borders were always at war.
"Officer Lyao said we couldn’t go to the battlefield with the level seven and eight insectoids, but he didn’t say we couldn’t go elsewhere," Yuri looked eager.
"Right, he didn’t," Tuss had already turned the direction of his mecha.
The next moment, two mechas, one red and one green, charged into the battlefield.
Tonight, countless citizens of the Alliance sat in front of their screens, putting aside everything else. Their concern was for the Second Commander trapped in danger, and for this sudden decisive battle.
"Am I seeing things, or did I just see a familiar red and green color mecha?"
"It’s not just you, I saw it too. Aren’t they supposed to be on Planet 165?"
"Maybe it’s not the same mecha."
"No doubt about it, it’s them. They left Planet 165 two days ago. With that familiar fighting style, who else could it be?"
"...."
Yuri and Tuss were unaware that they had been recognized. At that moment, they were in the midst of insectoids, one wielding a five-meter long blade, the other with only a fraction of Enova left and resorting to heat weapons.
While the two of them fought fiercely, the situation for Officer Lyao and his team was not looking good.
The level eight insectoid was being suppressed by heavy gunfire, unable to approach Officer Lyao and his team or their warship. The two sides were initially in a stalemate, but the level eight insectoid suddenly summoned a multitude of level four and five insectoids to act as shields, taking on the Alliance’s firepower for it.
When the level eight insectoid’s long tail swung around, it was too late for Officer Lyao and his team to dodge.
A dozen mechas were sent flying by the tail whip. Inside his mecha, Officer Lyao felt his organs shift places as he spat out a mouthful of blood, mixed with the remnants of torn tissues.
The level eight insectoid let out a mighty roar and leapt up, landing on top of the warship. The next second, it raised its huge claw and swiped down fiercely at the warship.
