Chapter 92: [Bonus Chapter]The Turning Point

Yuri figured she was probably the only one who took online classes in the midst of a battlefield. If she wasn’t studying, she was practicing her psychic power—a dry and tedious process.

Tuss had been away for quite a while. It had been five hours since she woke up, and he was still nowhere to be seen.

One by one, the other people on the warship returned, either to rest, replenish ammunition, or ask a beta to help them manage their Sea of Consciousness.

By the sixth hour, Yuri could no longer hold back her worry and started questioning the returning alphas, "Have any of you seen Tuss?"

"No sight of him, but heard about him on the public chat channel. He’s been battling non-stop. He’s fighting so fiercely, the insectoids are avoiding the area he’s in," one soldier said with admiration.

"So, he keeps changing positions with others," another soldier added.

"We take down insectoids with artillery. He’s doing it with his mecha. Pretty badass," a third soldier chimed in, giving a thumbs up.

Yuri could only sigh in response.

And here she was, worrying about him for hours, not even daring to send a message, fearing she might disturb him.

She had been overthinking.

Inside the command room, Officer Lyao’s brows were deeply furrowed as he scrolled through the holographic screen, assessing the entire battle situation. The officers around the table had serious expressions, wanting to speak but hesitating.

"The Second Commander has been dueling with the level eight insectoid for nine days. The fight could go either way. Madame Liang said yesterday that the Second Commander’s Sea of Consciousness has reached a critical point. He’s in great danger and shouldn’t return to the battlefield."

"Without the Second Commander to hold back the level eight insectoid, we’d be in a disadvantage."

"We would likely have to use several warships to contain it."

"The agility of a warship is no match for a mecha, and nowhere near the speed of a level eight insectoid. Fighting against it would be challenging."

Everyone in the room wore a worried look.

Officer Lyao looked up at them, "Is the Second Commander still on the battlefield?"

"Yes. Judging by his combat frequency and duration with the level eight insectoid these past days, they should take a temporary break in about three hours. He’ll return to the warship then. Mrs. Nekal intends to take him back to Planet Alpha for recuperation when the First Commander returns," an officer replied.

Officer Lyao gave an acknowledging grunt, switching the holographic screen to show the battle scene between the Second Commander and the level eight insectoid.

The image wasn’t clear, the high-speed movements causing some blurring. They could occasionally catch a glimpse of the Second Commander’s black mecha, or the silhouette of the level eight insectoid. More often than not, all they saw were streaks of shadows and exploding artillery.

Such was the battle between a high-level insectoid and the Alliance’s top alpha. An ordinary person wouldn’t be able to understand, let alone participate.

"Prepare to step in if the Second Commander retreats. The warship must be ready to move in immediately," Officer Lyao ordered.

"Yes, sir," his subordinates responded, quickly leaving the command room.

With the doors of the command room closed once again, Officer Lyao rubbed his temples, sending a communication request to the First Commander.

On the battlefield, Tuss, who had been battling for eight straight hours, finally ran out of Enova. Reluctantly, he left the battlefield to return to the warship.

On his way back, Tuss checked his achievement points. They had shot up from a few thousand in the morning to ten thousand now—a pretty rapid increase.

In a few more days, he should be able to catch up to Yuri, provided she stayed obediently on the warship.

Upon returning to the warship, Tuss noticed a strange atmosphere. As soon as he appeared, everyone turned to look at him, and some even pointed him toward a certain room in the hallway.

Feeling somewhat puzzled, Tuss headed towards the room. Before he even got close, he heard the voices inside.

"Why should I help him take off his shoes and pants when his hands are perfectly fine?" Yuri rolled her eyes, clearly fed up. Saina had said they were short of nurses and asked her for help. She couldn’t refuse with everyone watching, so she reluctantly agreed.

But she never thought that "helping out" would mean helping these male soldiers undress.

This wasn’t help; it was pure humiliation.

"He’s wounded. If he does it himself, he might aggravate his injuries," Saina defended. At this moment, she was holding in a wave of frustration. She initially thought Yuri’s rank of level seven sergeant had been obtained through some unfair means. However, an investigation found no issues. Everything was legal and standard, with evidence to back it up—that was impossible.

Saina, an SS-tier beta, was not even a level nine sergeant. Now she wondered why Yuri, an omega, could reach level seven. She refused to believe it and had another investigation conducted, only to discover Yuri’s achievements—

Saina almost wished she hadn’t.

"Whose pants are you trying to take off?" Tuss walked in from the doorway, his eyes fixed on Yuri.

Yuri’s anger surged instantly. "It’s all your fault. Get rid of this woman quickly; I don’t want to see her again."

Tuss replied somewhat helplessly, "Killing her would be a crime."

"Don’t be sarcastic. I’m asking you to sort out whatever’s between you two—"

"There’s nothing between us," Tuss interrupted Yuri, speaking sincerely. "I don’t even know who she is."

"Tuss." Saina pointed at Tuss, nearly hysterical. "Look at me and say that again."

But Tuss didn’t even bother giving her a glance. He grabbed Yuri’s hand, pulling her out of the room. "She’s irrelevant. Don’t pay her any mind."

"Stop. You can’t leave." Saina was both angry and upset.

However, Yuri and Tuss ignored her. They exited the room and headed straight for their own quarters.

"Tuss, even if you apologize now, I won’t help you manage your Sea of Consciousness," Saina shouted after them.

Not only did Yuri and Tuss not stop, they walked even faster.

Saina’s face twisted in anger, her teeth nearly grinding into dust. "Tuss, I’ll make you regret this."

"He probably won’t regret it," Officer Lyao suddenly appeared behind Saina.

"Uncle Lyao, why are you defending him?" Saina stomped her foot.

"Saina, since you called me uncle, I’ll give you two pieces of advice. One, give up on Tuss. Two, don’t mess with Yuri," Officer Lyao said earnestly.

Saina was taken aback and asked, "Why? Tuss and I are clearly the best match. His wife is nothing but—"

"That’s enough, Saina. I’ve said my piece. Think it over." Officer Lyao walked away with big strides.

Before Yuri and Tuss could return to their room, they were intercepted by Officer Lyao and asked to go to the command room.

The large screen in the command room was still playing the scene of the Second Commander fighting the level eight insectoids. Yuri and Tuss were captivated as soon as they entered.

"The Second Commander’s Sea of Consciousness has reached a critical point. Mrs. Nekal plans to take him back to Planet Alpha for recuperation when he returns," Officer Lyao said, his eyes intently on Yuri.

Yuri glanced at him and turned her gaze back to the screen.

"I’ll fight it," Tuss declared, his fist clenched.

Officer Lyao shook his head. "You’re not ready yet."

"He might not come back," Yuri suddenly said.

Officer Lyao’s expression changed. "What do you mean?"

Yuri paused the screen, rewound, and pointed at a corner. Enlarged, it was a dark shadow, but it was not hard to tell that it was an insectoid.

"This is the level seven insectoid that excels in psychic power attacks." She had seen videos of it on the interstellarnet; there was no way she could mistake it.
