I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 76: What’s This Futuristic Tech?

Chapter 76: What’s This Futuristic Tech?

The cockpit didn’t leave much room for its occupants, so they all simply made themselves comfortable on the floor. Yuri and Tuss had claimed one corner for themselves.

"So, what’s your plan after we reach Planet 165?" Tyrone asked, glancing around the group, his gaze focusing particularly on Yuri and Tuss.

"Officer Lyao ordered us to return to Planet Alpha," Tuss shared without hesitation, it was no secret after all.

However, the mention of "Officer Lyao" stole the spotlight and no one noticed Tuss using "us" instead of "I". Only Ender, Daleks, and Kilana picked up on this subtle change and shared knowing glances, finding it perfectly normal. After all, they were the gems of the Alliance.

"My family also insisted I return to Planet Alpha," Hoolin added.

"Same with mine," Tyrone said.

Everyone glanced at one another, tasting the undercurrent of unease. It seemed the scale of the incoming bug swarm was not to be underestimated.

They had traveled from Planet 132 to Planet 165 in just six hours, and then they disembarked from the starship along with the crowd.

"You guys wait here, I’ll go ask if there are any starships headed to Planet Alpha today," Ender volunteered.

The others settled into chairs, watching Ender head towards the ticketing counter.

Yuri asked, "Why not check on the official website?"

"Online information can be limited. For instance, starships leaving within the hour are not shown on the site since ticket sales have ended," Tuss explained.

Yuri nodded, understanding.

Ender returned with a grim expression, saying, "All the starships are being rerouted to Planet 132, and two other planets to pick up more passengers."

"We should’ve seen that coming," Tyrone muttered, unsurprised.

"What do we do now?" Vernon inquired.

"There’s not much we can do except find a place to stay," Tyrone got up, "Let’s move fast or all the hotels and inns will be fully booked."

Upon hearing this, everyone hastily picked up their pace.

Yuri turned to Tuss and suggested, "Should we leave with our mechas?"

"Yuri, I can’t believe you’re thinking about leaving us behind," Daleks accused, giving her a disapproving look.

Caught off guard, Yuri admitted, "Alright, my mistake."

"Planet 165 is far from the frontier, so it should be safe. We can treat it as a little vacation," Hoolin proposed.

"I’m gonna see what fun stuff there is to do on Planet 165," Vernon announced, opening his opticomputer as they walked.

Walking side by side with Tuss amid the bustling crowd, Yuri felt uncomfortable with the chaotic mix of smells.

Tuss had one arm around her waist and held her hand with the other, occasionally rubbing his cheek against her head. The affectionate display was so over-the-top it was almost embarrassing to watch.

Suddenly, Yuri stopped and frowned, "Do you smell that? There’s a faint fishy scent mixed with moisture."

Everyone paused, then sniffed the air thoughtfully. After a few seconds, they shook their heads.

Baffled, Yuri asked Tuss, "Can you smell it?"

Tuss scrunched his eyebrows and replied, "It’s faint, but it’s definitely there."

"Ender voiced his confusion, "The spaceport is built on a mountain over two thousand meters high, half of it overhanging a cliff and half against the mountain peak. How could there be any moisture?"

As they all puzzled over the situation, Yuri’s psychic power swept over the entire spaceport. She spoke coldly, "Get your weapons ready. Prepare for combat."

No sooner had she spoken than the harsh sound of metal being ripped apart echoed through the spaceport.

Everyone turned towards the source of the noise. The smooth, sturdy metallic roof was being torn open by sharp insectoid claws.

"Insectoids! Everyone, run!"

In no time, cries and shouts of panic filled the air.

Tyrone and the others quickly grabbed their guns, aiming at the insectoids on the roof. They were the top students from the military academy, their marksmanship second to none. In the tight space of thirty-five meters, they hit their insectoid targets with deadly accuracy.

But the results were less than satisfactory.

"Damn, what level of defense do these things have? My basic quantum bullets can’t penetrate their skin," Daleks cursed in frustration.

"Once we get back to Planet Alpha, I’m requesting weapons with more firepower," Hoolin said, his tone filled with frustration.

"Damn, they’re coming down," Vernon stepped back, his eyes wide with terror.

Just as everyone felt at a loss, a seemingly ordinary dagger flew past them, heading straight for the insectoid half-emerged from the roof.

Can a dagger do what bullets can’t? Tyrone and the others glanced at Yuri, who had thrown the dagger, thinking they should give her a quick lesson later.

However, the next second left them all stunned.

The spinning dagger flew at the insectoid, which ignored it completely, its vertical pupils filled with disdain. It was too preoccupied with clawing open the metal roof to even bother blocking the tiny dagger.

Then, the unexpected happened.

The seemingly ordinary dagger effortlessly cut through its skin, zipped around its neck, and its head was swiftly severed from its body.

Its enormous head fell from the roof, blood gushing from the stump of its neck.

Damn. How did she do that?

Tyrone and the others were dumbstruck. Is that really just a dagger, not some sort of futuristic tech disguised as a dagger?

Next, they watched as Tuss pulled out a dozen thin blades from his waist, tossing them casually at the insectoids on the roof.

The blades, as if guided by a sixth sense, accurately hit the insectoids’ claws, eyes, and other vital spots.

The insectoid let out a furious and shrill scream as blood poured from its wounds.

"Any more?" Yuri asked Tuss.

"No more," Tuss knew she was asking about the blades.

A flash of disappointment crossed Yuri’s eyes.

"But we have these," Tuss took out two large machetes, handing one to Yuri and keeping one for himself.

Tyrone and the others exchanged looks before Tyrone broke the silence, "Give me one."

"Me too," the others chimed in.

Soon, each of them held a machete, looking like a group of street thugs ready for trouble.

They held their machetes tight, eyes locked on the roof, ready for action.

Screams and the sound of gunfire and explosions could be heard from outside the spaceport. The crowd that had rushed out earlier was now rushing back in.

"There are insectoids outside too," Ender said.

"Let’s go, we’ll make a path," Tyrone led the way, pushing against the flow of the crowd.

"Aren’t we dealing with the ones on the roof?" Hoolin asked.

"We’ll stay behind, you guys go ahead and see what’s happening," Tuss suggested.

As soon as Tyrone, Ender, and the others left, Yuri used her psychic power to disrupt the insectoids’ Ocean of Awareness on the roof. Her psychic power had revealed that there were only a few insectoids on the roof; the main force was outside the spaceport.

There, she sensed a presence slightly weaker than a level five insectoid queen.

Yuri guessed it must be a level four insectoid.

"Let’s go outside," Yuri said.

No sooner had she spoken when a sudden quake shook the spaceport violently.
