Chapter 75: [Bonus Chapter for ohecoupons] ohecoupons
After Tuss confirmed that Ender and the others received the message and were rushing to the spaceport, he took off in his lev, also heading there.
As for the hundred soldiers, Tuss had assigned them to assist the residents of Planet 132 with evacuation.
Yuri busied himself on the interstellarnet, seeking information about Planet 132.
Located near the border of the Alliance, Planet 132 was a medium-small planet, with a population of just 1.5 billion. The recent insectoid invasion had taken many lives, though the exact number was still being tallied. Many had fled as well, especially those who had the resources and means to do so.
Minus those who died or fled, there were still probably a billion people left on Planet 132. Evacuating all of them was going to be a mammoth task.
"It’s not as difficult as you might think," Tuss offered. "We can transfer the population to nearby planets, with starships making round trips in a single day."
"How long will it take to complete?" Yuri asked.
"About two weeks. Don’t worry, the Alliance’s forces will intercept the insectoid army in the space, preventing them from landing on the planets."
"Why is Officer Lyao so eager for us to leave if that’s the case?" Yuri questioned, skeptical.
Tuss gave a wry smile. "Regardless of the reason, our staying here wouldn’t help anyway."
"Do we head to the spaceport now?" Yuri asked.
a"Yes. Let’s go now."
Upon their arrival at the spaceport, Yuri and Tuss found it bustling with people, as noisy as a market square.
"Let us in already!"
"Why can’t we go in? Aren’t you here to get us?"
"The starship is full, wait for the next one," a military officer tried to maintain order.
"When is the next one?"
.....
As soon as Yuri and Tuss appeared, Ender, Tyrone, and the others who had been waiting surrounded them.
"You’re finally here," Ender breathed, relieved. "Hurry up, the starship is about to take off."
"Follow this path," Hoolin guided them.
"Huh, Yuri, why do you smell like Tuss?" Vernon covered his nose, stepping back.
Yuri’s face froze as she quickly considered how to respond. Tuss coolly glanced at Vernon, "We’re married. Is it strange that she smells like me?"
Vernon broke out in goosebumps from Tuss’s look, quickly replying, "Not strange at all. Couldn’t be more normal."
Everyone else exchanged glances, subtly distancing themselves from Yuri.
An alpha in heat period had an obsessive possessiveness. Better not to mess with it.
"Why can they go in when you said the starship is full, and there’s no room?" Suddenly, someone pointed at Yuri and Tuss, loudly questioning.
Yuri, Tuss, and the others paused, turning to look at the accuser.
"What are you looking at? I’m talking about you. We were here first, why can you get on the starship and we can’t?" The man held Tuss’s cold gaze without flinching.
His words ignited the crowd’s anger. "In the face of life, all people are equal. Why do you have special privileges and not have to wait in line?"
"Exactly! Why is it? You’re all young and strong. Haven’t you seen all the elderly, the children, the sick, and the disabled here? Do you have any shame?"
"Each of you might look like decent individuals, but your hearts are black."
....
The crowd’s fear, anxiety, restlessness, and anger now had a target. They directed it all at Yuri and the rest.
Yuri and Tuss remained expressionless. Yuri was mentally strong; few people’s opinions could sway her. Tuss was merely ignoring them all. Through the eyes of an alpha in heat period, only his beta mattered.
However, it was different for Tyrone, Hoolin, and the rest. Each one had been a cherished child or even someone of prestigious status. They’d never experienced this kind of treatment. Embarrassment colored their faces, lips tightly sealed, clueless about how to respond.
"Hey, that young man looks familiar. I think I’ve seen him somewhere," someone pointed at Tuss.
"Now that you mention it, he does look familiar. With such handsome features, he might be some celebrity."
"Ah, I remember now. His name is Tuss. He’s an SSS-tier alpha. Just check on the interstellarnet."
Gasp!
Someone took a sharp breath.
"He’s daring to come to such a dangerous place? How did the Alliance let him go?"
"Not only has he come to Planet 132, but he’s also done quite a bit. Let me show you some videos."
A man mysteriously spoke, using the multi-screen feature on his opticomputer to simultaneously play several videos. Some showed Tuss and Yuri rescuing survivors from the ruins, and one showed them battling the insectoid queen.
Making sure everyone present could see, the man maximized the screens. He pointed at the video of the battle against the insectoid queen and explained, "That’s Tuss inside the red and green mecha, and his wife Yuri is inside the red and green lev."
The crowd was temporarily distracted by the videos, their attention away from Yuri and Tuss. The man who played the videos gave Yuri and Tuss a friendly smile, gesturing for them to hurry and leave.
Yuri and Tuss slightly nodded at the man before quickly heading towards the starship.
"I didn’t expect things to unfold like this," Daleks sighed.
"I was scared to death just now. I thought those people were going to tear us apart," Vernon patted his chest, still slightly terrified remembering their hostile faces.
"That’s why doing good deeds can bring good karma, like this time," Ender noted, watching Yuri and Tuss with fox-like eyes. As he admired their inseparable bond, he couldn’t help but feel a little envious.
That sour scent of love, he was surprisingly somewhat jealous.
"What do you think their reaction will be when they finish the videos and realize we’re gone?" Daleks asked curiously.
Ender pondered and said, "There could be all sorts of reactions."
Indeed, as Ender had speculated, after watching the videos, the crowd’s reactions varied.
The angry: "They just left like that, how cunning and deceitful."
The unimpressed: "The elites always act this way, always the first to run when there’s danger."
The resigned: "It’s just a few people. If they don’t go, we can’t either, so why bother?"
The ones prioritizing the Alliance’s interest: "That’s the only SSS-tier among the younger generation in the Alliance. What’s wrong with him leaving first? He’s a treasure. What’s wrong with him having some privileges?"
The grateful: "They’ve saved so many people. I wholeheartedly agree with them leaving first."
Out-of-the-box thinkers: "Maybe they’re in a rush to join the fight? Think about it, they’re all pretty powerful. Isn’t it possible they’re going to resist the insectoid invasion?"
Everyone else: "..."
The last to board, Yuri and her group were fortunate to be placed in the cockpit.
"The rest of the starship is packed. We only got some space here. Please make do and find a spot to sit," said the starship’s captain with a kind smile. His gaze swept over Ender and the others, lingering for a few seconds on Yuri and Ender.
