Chapter 77: The Safety She Brings

Yuri staggered uncontrollably, collapsing into Tuss’s arms. They tumbled together into a nearby chair.

"What’s happening out there?" Tuss asked, knowing Yuri must have used her psychic powers to scope out the situation.

"There might be a level four insectoid outside," Yuri grimly reported.

Tuss paled. How can a level four insectoid appear? Has the insect swarm broken through the Alliance’s defense lines?

Without a second to spare, they sprang up from the chair and, hand in hand, raced towards the exit.

The cacophony of gunshots, cannon blasts, and terrified screams mingled together, only to be drowned out by earth-shaking roars, one after the other.

If one could describe the situation as earth-shaking, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

As Yuri and Tuss neared the doorway, they spotted the massive creature in the distance. It was using its long and hefty tail to pound the mountainside, dislodging rocks that tumbled down the slopes, causing the formation to crack.

If this kept up, the mountain would soon collapse.

"I’ll stop it. You keep yourself safe," Tuss said, quickly summoning his mecha. In a blink, he was airborne, charging towards the level four insectoid.

Around the insectoid, several mechas were engaged in battle. Among them, Tuss recognized two belonging to Hoolin and Tyrone.

Shifting her gaze away from the dueling mechas, Yuri casually sliced through an insectoid’s claw that tried to sneak up on her. Her weapon, simple as it was, sliced through insectoid flesh as easily as through butter.

Wherever she went, she left a trail of insectoid limbs.

People, their hearts filled with despair, lit up when they saw Yuri. They crawled, rolled, staggered, all of them wounded, but all striving to get to her side for protection.

But suddenly, Yuri sprung up, fast as lightning, darting forward.

Daleks had fallen there, impaled by an insectoid’s razor-sharp tail. The tail had hoisted him high into the air, and blood gushed from his belly wound. His fate hung in the balance.

"Daleks—" Ender and Kilana, their eyes filled with fury, struggled to reach Daleks, but they were surrounded by insectoids.

"Ah—" Ender desperately yelled, unleashing a flood of S-tier pheromones, causing the surrounding insectoids to falter, their bodies wracked with pain.

But that was it.

The insectoids, fueled by their fury, returned with an onslaught more furious than before.

It wasn’t enough. He wasn’t Tuss—If Tuss had been there, Daleks wouldn’t be in this situation.

Daleks was his childhood friend, closer than a brother, yet he couldn’t save him.

Ender stared at Daleks, a feeling of helpless defeat filling his chest, nearly ready to burst.

Kilana, usually the stone-faced beauty, was, for some reason, crying her eyes out.

Just when they thought Daleks was done for, a familiar blade appeared.

The bloody blade swung down, splitting the armored tail into two. Daleks, along with half the severed tail, fell from the sky.

A lithe figure darted forward, catching Daleks in mid-air. They landed safely on the ground.

Yuri’s gaze shifted to Ender and Kilana nearby. In the next second, all the insectoids around them fell dead.

Upon seeing this, the two people hastily rushed towards Yuri and Daleks.

"Help him with his wounds," Yuri commanded before vanishing and reappearing at her original spot in an instant.

The injured Daleks watched in awe as Yuri managed to annihilate all the insectoids around them.

In less than a minute, they had experienced a roller coaster of emotions, all stirred by Yuri.

Unaware of their thoughts, Yuri was opening up a broad path with her blade, and the injured people, clenching their teeth in pain, followed closely behind her.

"Yuri, why do our machete dull and can’t even cut through the insectoid’s skin, while yours cuts through them like slicing a watermelon?" Vernon asked as he took cover beside Yuri, holding his disfigured cleaver.

Yuri couldn’t exactly tell him that she had coated her blade with a level four metal, Enova.

Others like Jo and Delamak also moved closer to Yuri as they fought.

Although Yuri was merely an omega, her presence inexplicably eased their anxiety, reducing their stress.

"How’s Daleks’ wound?" Yuri asked.

Kilana and Ender were busily applying medication and bandaging Daleks’ wound. Without looking up, they replied, "The bleeding has temporarily stopped, but we don’t know if there’s internal bleeding or organ damage."

Frowning, Yuri scanned the surrounding area. There were less than a hundred insectoids left. She decided on the spot, saying, "I’ll hold off these insectoids. You guys take him to the nearest hospital."

As she spoke, Yuri took out her lev from her dimensional button. "Drive this," she said.

With a rumble, the red and green lev swayed.

Yuri opened the door, and Ender and Kilana lifted Daleks into the vehicle.

The critically injured people eyed the lev, their faces a mix of longing and hesitation.

"Take them, too." Yuri pointed to a dozen who were critically injured and needed immediate attention.

The chosen individuals wept with joy, thanking her profusely.

Yuri didn’t respond with pleasantries, instead urging, "Hurry up."

The rumbling continued, and the intensity of the ground shaking grew. The mountain wouldn’t hold much longer at this rate.

With a frown, Yuri turned to look at the battlefield, only to witness a scene that terrified her.

The red and green humanoid mecha was plunging from the sky, wrapping its arms around the long tail of the level four insectoid.

He’s lost it. He really has lost it. Anger welled up inside Yuri as she watched the mecha get smashed into the rocky mountainside by the long tail. It was both heart-wrenching and satisfying to Yuri. Serves you right for being so reckless, she thought to herself.

However, the feeling of concern won out in the end. With a thin line of her lips, Yuri stared icily at the level four insectoid.

Just as Yuri was about to intervene, the red-green mecha finally stabilized itself. Grasping the long tail, it exerted a powerful swing, seemingly trying to hurl the massive level four insectoid down the mountain.

Yuri watched as the insectoid’s limbs left the ground and it took flight before plunging down the mountain.

The red-green mecha, clinging tightly to the insectoid’s tail, was dragged down due to inertia.

"Tuss—"

The other mechas, seeing this, hurriedly flew down the mountain.

A crisp crack echoed, as something split apart.

Yuri turned her head to see a deep fissure where the level four insectoid had stood. The crack widened rapidly, spreading to her feet in a blink of an eye.

"The mountain is collapsing, run!"

Yuri shouted, her voice imbued with psychic power echoing throughout the mountain and penetrating into the spaceport.
