I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 59: Coveting the Position of Tuss’s Wife

Chapter 59: Coveting the Position of Tuss’s Wife

In the hospital room, Yuri and the old man had their eyes closed.

Everyone else sat still, quiet as mice, afraid to disturb them — even their breathing had turned lighter.

Yuri had just completed her longest grooming session yet, taking thirty minutes.

The moment she opened her eyes, she found the old man had drifted off to sleep on the couch, soft snores echoing within a minute.

"What’s the outcome?" Officer Lyao asked, without bothering to lower his voice.

"No issues at all," Yuri confidently answered. She had transformed the fragmented world into a peaceful one, filled with magnificent mountains and rivers, brimming with the melody of birds and the aroma of flowers.

Relieved, Officer Lyao glanced at the still sleeping elder, hesitated for a second, then woke him up.

Awakening to a daze, the old man scowled, "I haven’t had such a good sleep in years, and you woke me up."

"You’ll sleep better in the future," Yuri promised.

Feeling refreshed, the old man took Yuri’s words to heart. "I feel like I’ve returned to my teens. Incredible. Half an hour ago, I wouldn’t dare to dream of this. Is this the power of an SSS-tier beta?"

Yuri couldn’t answer him; she didn’t know herself.

Looking at his watch, Officer Lyao stated, "We should leave. You have a meeting in fifteen minutes. Besides, our prolonged stay here might arouse suspicion."

"Let’s go then," the old man agreed.

"Don’t forget my lev," Yuri reminded.

The old man laughed. "I’ve asked Lyao to remember it. He won’t forget."

Once the old man and Officer Lyao left the room, Ender, Daleks, and Kilana slumped onto the couch.

"Do you know who that old man is?" Daleks asked Yuri.

Yuri shook her head.

With a look of "I knew it," Daleks exclaimed, "Ignorance is bliss. You’re a true hero today."

"I guess he’s the first commander," Yuri speculated. "Officer Lyao respects him too much. There’s no one else but THE commander he would show such reverence."

Daleks gaped at her. "You guessed it and still managed to stay calm, even negotiating terms with him?"

"If he doesn’t say so, I treat him as an omega," Yuri said, her foreign origin making her less fearful of the local authorities.

Impressed, Daleks gave her a thumbs-up, "Impressive!"

Not long after Officer Lyao’s departure, Yuri also sent Ender and the others away. After a long night’s work, everyone was exhausted.

The room was now silent, with only Yuri and Tuss in his treatment pod.

Yuri moved a single-seat sofa next to the pod. Curling up on it, she appeared to be asleep but was actually using her psychic power to enter Tuss’s Sea of Consciousness.

Beyond Tuss’s mental barrier, Yuri saw only darkness, intense and extreme.

Gloomy, oppressive, filled with an air of death.

Yuri frowned. Tuss’s condition was worse than she had expected.

She sighed. Doesn’t matter, I have plenty of time.

While the hospital room was silent, the Interstellarnet was abuzz. Everyone was discussing one thing: an SSS-tier alpha had appeared in the Alliance.

No one knew who spread the news, but it had already spiraled out of control. The Alliance leaders decided, since they couldn’t hide it, they might as well let it run its course.

Seeing no official stepping forward to deny it, netizens finally wholeheartedly accepted the news.

"The Alliance finally has an SSS-tier alpha! I’ve been waiting for this day for over thirty years... I feel like crying."

"My dear old mother is shedding tears of joy."

"Rumors say that two SSS have emerged in the Alliance over these thirty years, but they didn’t make it."

"They didn’t ’not make it’. They were taken out by spies."

"This one was attacked yesterday too. If it wasn’t such a big deal, we wouldn’t have known."

"Is the person okay?"

"All we know is they’ve been seriously injured. Anything more specific is unclear."

"Can anyone tell me who it is?"

"Same question."

....

People online were curious, and so were the folks of Planet Alpha.

The event had happened right on Planet Alpha, and they had missed it.

Much lamenting ensued.

However, some with connections quickly found out the identity of the SSS-tier alpha. When they discovered it was Tuss, they were dumbstruck. He had lost both his legs, becoming an omega, then differentiating again to become an SSS-tier alpha? Should we also consider breaking our own legs?

While others might be envious and jealous of Tuss becoming SSS-tier, the Cheng family and the Hiro family were filled with mixed feelings and regret.

"Let’s visit Tuz at the hospital tomorrow," Darth told his wife Meliena. After some thought, he added, "Let’s bring Rowan with us."

"Sure." Meliena didn’t seem to mind. Tuss differentiating into an SSS-tier alpha was a good thing for the Hiro family and their son.

After all, Tuss and Rowan shared the same father.

Over at the Cheng family, Kiki had locked herself in her room and shattered everything she could lift since learning Tuss had differentiated into an SSS-tier alpha.

Listening to the clamor from upstairs, Nero frowned and said, "Call your sister down."

"Yes." Shero obeyed, trotting upstairs.

"We’re visiting the hospital tomorrow," Nero announced.

Everyone exchanged glances, but no one objected.

"I’m not going." Kiki pouted, chin raised defiantly. "I won’t go to kiss Yuri’s feet."

Nero glared at his foolish daughter. "Do you know what an SSS-tier alpha means? It means a future level-one commander. If you don’t start building a relationship now and instead throw a tantrum, aren’t you a fool? Countless people want to get in Tuss’s good graces and can’t even find a way. You should be grateful Yuri is your sister."

"Hmph! She’s the one who stole my things," Kiki protested.

"You were the one who disliked Tuss after his legs were ruined, you were the one who refused to marry him," Nero retorted angrily, deeply disappointed in his daughter. "I’ve said all I can. Go or don’t, it’s your decision."

"Father, Yuri is an omega, Tuss is an SSS-tier alpha, their marriage won’t last," Shero suddenly spoke up.

Nero was taken aback, then gritted his teeth, "As long as our family doesn’t agree, Tuss can’t get a divorce."

"That wouldn’t be a marriage alliance, but a grudge," Shero murmured.

Nero turned to Shero and said, "What are you implying?"

"Father, why not take the initiative and suggest Tuss take a different wife?" Shero proposed. "This way, we can maintain our relationships with both families, and Tuss might even appreciate your thoughtfulness."

Upon hearing this, the faces of everyone in the hall varied.

Several illegitimate children kept their faces passive, subtly distancing themselves from Shero.

Kiki’s face showed a hint of pleasure.

After a moment of silence, Nero nodded and said, "It’s a good idea, but—"

He looked at his daughters and continued, "You’re not suitable. You’re either omegas, or your levels are too low to match a high-ranking alpha."

Kiki’s face froze, she glared resentfully at Nero, "Father, can’t you just take a chance for your daughter’s well-being?"

Yet Nero remained firm and replied, "A low-ranking beta can’t even breach the mental barrier of a high-ranking alpha, let alone help him organize his Sea of Consciousness."

Aside from the Cheng family, there were numerous families on Planet Alpha who wished to form a marriage alliance with Tuss.

The day after Tuss was hospitalized, thousands of people came to visit him at the hospital, most of whom were young girls. Each of them was dressed up with meticulous makeup and flamboyant dresses. If one didn’t know better, they might think the girls were going to a beauty pageant.
