I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 58: The Expansive Sea of Consciousness

Chapter 58: The Expansive Sea of Consciousness

Yuri arrived like a wisp of smoke, unseen, and departed like a shadow, unnoticed. Her sudden appearance gave Daleks quite a fright.

With lightning speed, she removed her trench coat and hat, tossing them into the dimensional button. Her mecha followed soon after.

"Where’s Tuz?" Daleks asked, anticipation etched on his face.

"His Sea of Consciousness is safe, but his body is seriously injured," Yuri quickly whispered.

With that, she rushed off toward the security line.

Caught off guard, Daleks took a moment to recover before chasing after Yuri, calling out, "Wait for me!"

By the time Yuri and Daleks arrived, Tuz had been placed in a medical pod, and over a dozen soldiers were lifting it onto a flying vehicle.

Before Yuri could say a word, Officer Lyao urged, "Join us. Get on quickly."

The large flying vehicle was equipped with comprehensive medical equipment. As Yuri stepped aboard, she was sprayed in the face with a mist.

"Close your mouth, it’s disinfectant," Officer Lyao advised.

Not only did Yuri close her mouth, but she also shut her eyes. Ender, standing nearby, carefully supported her arm and guided her forward. His cautious treatment of her reminded Yuri of how she and Tuss handled the starstone.

The three was seated on one side of the vehicle, separated by a curtain from the flurry of doctors attending to Tuz.

Tuz’s shattered arm needed to be amputated, and as his wife, Yuri was required to sign a consent form. Without hesitation, she signed her name. As she finished, she heard Daleks beside her, struggling to stifle his sobs.

"Now Tuz not only has no legs, but he’s also lost an arm. You won’t abandon Tuz, will you?" Daleks pleaded with teary eyes, ready to break down completely if Yuri showed any hint of rejection.

"The Alliance will ensure Tuz’s arm is restored," Ender reassured, guessing Tuz’s rank and displaying far more composure than Daleks.

The Alliance wouldn’t abandon an SSS-tier member.

Surprised, Daleks asked, "The exorbitant medical costs... the Alliance will really cover it?"

"He’s an SSS-tier Alpha," Yuri murmured.

Daleks looked stunned.

After a moment, he turned to his opticomputer and asked, "Can I tell Kilana about this? Oh right, she’s still on her way here."

Before Yuri or Ender could reply, he added, "Never mind, I’ll tell her face-to-face. I want to see her astonished face."

Yuri and Ender were left speechless.

Once they reached the hospital, Tuz was rushed into surgery. Yuri, Ender, Daleks, and Kilana, who arrived later, spent most of the night in the hospital corridor.

It wasn’t until eight in the morning that Tuz was wheeled out of the operating room.

Still in the medical pod, a special large model, Tuz remained unconscious.

"His amputated arm will gradually regenerate, taking roughly half a month. During this time, he will remain in a deep sleep. Do not try to wake him," the doctor warned.

Nodding, Yuri asked, "What else do we need to be aware of?"

The doctor thought for a moment, shaking his head. "All you need to remember is this: visiting time is once a day, ten minutes each time. Actually, there’s no need to visit daily since he’ll be in deep sleep. You won’t be able to communicate with him. We’ll be uploading updates on his condition, so if you want to know anything, just check on your opticomputer."

Yuri frowned, thinking, Just because he won’t wake means he doesn’t need to be seen at all?

"Are you worried about Tuz being alone in the hospital?" Ender asked, noticing Yuri’s expression.

"The military will undoubtedly have someone guarding Tuz. You don’t need to worry," Daleks reassured her.

"Officer Lyao is coming," Kilana signaled, pointing down the corridor.

It wasn’t just Officer Lyao arriving, but also an older man with silver hair and a dozen officers trailing behind.

Upon seeing the old man, Ender, Daleks, and Kilana stood up straight. Seeing their starry-eyed admiration, Yuri guessed this elderly man must be of considerable rank.

As the old man approached, his gaze lingered on Yuri, his eyes filled with curiosity, appraisal, and kindness.

Officer Lyao didn’t introduce the old man, so Yuri simply treated him as a respected elder, nodding her head before turning to Officer Lyao. "I want to stay with Tuz."

"I’ll assign someone to protect him," Officer Lyao didn’t directly refuse.

"I won’t feel at ease," Yuri spoke her mind.

Officer Lyao frowned, his eyes conveying disapproval. In his view, Yuri was also someone the Alliance needed to protect.

"It seems the Alliance has disappointed you, my young friend," the old man’s voice held a note of apology as he addressed Yuri.

Yuri shook her head, "Not at all."

"How about this, you stay and keep watch alongside the military. What do you think?" the old man proposed.

"Alright." At this moment, Yuri had a pretty good impression of the elderly man.

Tuz was allocated a private room. The room was large, covering nearly fifty square meters and was fully equipped, making it suitable for a long-term stay.

Out of caution, Yuri took a walk around the room. When she returned, only Ender, Daleks, Officer Lyao, and the elderly man remained.

The old man sat on a couch and invited them to sit, "Don’t be formal, please take a seat."

Yuri took a seat opposite the old man, with Ender and Daleks beside her.

"Besides visiting Tuz today, I also have another purpose," the old man said, his gaze steady on Yuri. "I’d like you to take a tier test. You can rest assured, aside from me, Officer Lyao, and Professor Gawk, there won’t be anyone else present."

"I don’t want to," Yuri replied sincerely. "Whether I take the test or not won’t affect my ability to provide mental guidance for Tuz."

The room fell silent.

"See, as I said, she is a stubborn and somewhat obstinate child," Officer Lyao interjected, seemingly criticizing Yuri but actually defending her.

The old man laughed, "Quite a spirited one, isn’t she? If you’re not willing to take the test, that’s fine. How about helping me manage the Sea of Consciousness? I won’t let you do it for nothing. I heard you want a flying vehicle; I’ll gift you one."

Yuri’s eyes lit up. "I want a good one," she stated.

The old man contemplated, "It depends on how well you manage."

The people around Yuri, including Ender, were taken aback by Yuri’s boldness. Negotiating terms with this man? Impressive.

Ever since her differentiation into a beta, Yuri’s psychic power development was like a cheat code had been activated. Her psychic power level was approaching that of her Enova, and showed signs of surpassing it.

She easily crossed the old man’s Sea of Consciousness barrier, entering his Sea of Consciousness with minimal effort.

Upon entering, Yuri was hit with a wave of desolation and sadness.

Broken ruins, shattered mountains and rivers, smoke-filled air, not a single sign of life... Even the sky was a grey haze. It was the vision of a post-war planet.

The old man’s Sea of Consciousness was an entire planet.

Yuri was astonished; this was the most expansive Sea of Consciousness she had seen to date.

She wondered whether it would be more extensive than Tuss’s.

After Tuss’s re-differentiation, she had not entered his Sea of Consciousness. Even today, she merely suppressed his Sea of Consciousness temporarily and did not enter it.

The more expansive one’s Sea of Consciousness, the greater their potential. Even among those of the same SSS-tier, the one with a wider Sea of Consciousness is more powerful.
