I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 42: He is an Alpha
Chapter 42: He is an Alpha
Yuri only occupied a third of the bed, leaving the remaining two-thirds to someone. The implication was clear as day.
Tuss was both happy and sad—happy because she cared for him and left him a space, sad because she trusted him so much that it seemed she didn’t regard him as a male who was pursuing her.
Isn’t she afraid that I would do something? Tuss thought to himself.
Frustrated, Tuss lifted the blanket and lay down. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, and his body seemed to move uncontrollably toward her. It wasn’t until he was touching Yuri that he stopped.
"She didn’t wake up?" Tuss was surprised. Isn’t her vigilance strong?
Is it because she trusted me?
Then, what about this?
Tuss reached out and placed his hand on Yuri’s waist.
Yuri remained fast asleep, showing no reaction.
Tuss looked at the ceiling, his eyes full of determination.
He turned on his side, his body half-hugging Yuri, their faces almost touching.
At this moment, Tuss felt a sense of satisfaction he had never felt before. How wonderful it is that she’s now in my arms. I wish I could hold her like this forever.
That night, Yuri had an unsettled sleep. In her dream, a large gorilla was constantly chasing her. No matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t shake it off. It scared her.
When Yuri woke up, she found herself alone on the bed.
There was a note from Tuss on the bedside table. He had gone to the hotel’s gym.
Yuri rolled over in bed, then got up with a tired body to wash up.
When Tuss came back, he brought her breakfast, "You eat breakfast, I’ll take a shower."
Yuri responded weakly with a couple of hums.
"What’s wrong? You don’t seem to be in a good state." Tuss asked with concern.
"I didn’t sleep well. I had nightmares all night, dreaming of being caught by a beast." Yuri said.
Tuss evasively shifted his gaze and said, "Why don’t you take a snooze after breakfast later?"
"No, I’m getting tired from sleep. I’m going to buy some things to prepare for moving into our new home." Yuri said.
Hearing the words "new home" from Yuri’s mouth, Tuss felt a softening in his heart, "I’ll go with you."
After breakfast, Yuri and Tuss checked out of the room and took a car to the largest mall on Planet Alpha.
After the Starstone incident, many people recognized them, and their appearance on the street drew countless eyes. Fortunately, they were not celebrities, and Tuss’s cold demeanor was intimidating enough to deter onlookers. Although people were curious, no one dared to approach and disturb them.
The Starstone matter seemed to have passed for them. However, the undercurrent it brought to the Alliance was just beginning to surface.
After testing, the Alliance concluded that the Starstone could only allow eleven betas to level up.
Eleven slots seemed a lot, but in fact, they were not, especially considering the population base of the Alliance.
Who should be given the eleven slots became the topic of most concern to the people of the Alliance. This topic was not only discussed at several major Alliance meetings but even spread online. People were also very concerned about the distribution of these eleven slots, and there was a lot of argument online.
Yuri and Tuss were completely unaware of this.
The officer was extremely efficient. By the next day, the property deeds and keys to the mansion were delivered into the hands of Yuri and Tuss.
That same day, Yuri excitedly took Tuss to tour their new home.
"We have furniture and appliances, we just lack some bedding. We can complete that in the next few days." Yuri said enthusiastically.
They moved into the new home that night, each having a room, separated by a large hall.
"Should we have a housewarming party?" Yuri asked. She remembered there was such a tradition back in her old world.
Tuss nodded, "We should. We don’t need to make it big, just invite a few good friends over for dinner."
"I don’t have anyone to invite, you decide." Yuri said. As for the friend of the old body owner, Alia, Yuri didn’t plan on inviting her. Alia was a friend of the original host, not hers.
Plus, Alia must know the old Yuri very well, so to prevent her from suspecting anything, she didn’t plan to interact with Alia.
When Tuss heard that she didn’t have anyone to invite, he felt a pang of sympathy. He comforted her, "My friends are also your friends. They’re all nice, you should get along."
Yuri hummed a couple of times, rolled her eyes, and said, "The first time Daleks saw me, he attacked me. At that time, I was still an omega."
Tuss’s expression changed, "He hit you?"
"Worse than hitting." Yuri said indignantly, "He oppressed me with his pheromone."
Tuss’s expression turned frosty, his body exuding cold air. "I will get it even for you."
"Mm-hmm." Yuri said satisfied, "I’ve been unhappy with his face for a long time. You should, you should beat him up."
"Alright." Tuss’s fist clenched tightly as he gave a naughty smile.
Only then was Yuri satisfied. What goes around comes around. Daleks, you reap what you sow.
Thousands of miles away, Daleks sneezed.
"Who’s thinking about me?" Daleks rubbed his nose and sent a message to Ender, "Ender, Tuz invited me to his new home for dinner and to introduce the place. Are you going?"
Ender rolled his eyes, "What kind of stupid question is that? Of course, I’m going."
"Daleks, I’m going too." Rei interjected.
"You’re going? Why are you going?" Daleks was confused. Rei used to hang out with them when he was a kid, but he had stopped being their little follower in recent years.
"Oh, didn’t I tell you? Tuss saved our lives on Star 814. Plus, when you guys went missing, I was the one who told Tuss." Rei said, a bit discontent.
Daleks then understood, saying, "Of course, you never told me that. I was even wondering how Tuss managed to arrive just in time to save everyone. So it was thanks to you, Rei."
Ender’s attention, however, was on Planet 814. He stared at his younger brother, asking, "What were you doing on Planet 814?"
"We went to save someone. A classmate of mine was kidnapped and sold on Planet 814. The situation was urgent, and we chased them all the way to Planet 814. We were caught by the enemy during the rescue. If it weren’t for Tuss, I might not be here now." Rei lamented.
Ender gave his brother a smack on the head, "Next time, consider the consequences before rushing in."
"But if we didn’t take action, my classmate would have been harmed." Rei defended himself.
Ender: "....."
"Hey hey, don’t smack Rei. I think he’s right. If you were in his shoes, you wouldn’t stand by while your classmate was harmed," Daleks chimed in.
Ender: "....."
"Rei, come on, tell us about what happened then. Focus on how Tuz saved you guys." Daleks walked to the table, grabbed a bunch of grapes, moved to the couch, and made himself comfortable. He enjoyed one grape at a time.
Seeing him like this, Ender also found a place to sit and prepared to listen to the story.
Rei took a couple of sips of water, cleared his throat, and began to narratively recount the story, even gesticulating when he got to the exciting parts.
".....The people on the street hid in the stores, dozens of men in black surrounded us, and all I could think was, we’re done for. Then, out of nowhere, a man in a cloak with crutches appeared like a storm, sending several men in black flying with a single swipe of his crutches. Wherever he went, his rival fell like dominoes. In addition to the man in the cloak, there was a woman in a cloak too, who was even cooler and stronger than the man, with a whip that was awesomely powerful. No one could get within meters of her. The two of them, working together, routed the men in black."
Daleks and Ender looked at each other across the screen, seeing the confusion in each other’s eyes. Was it really that impressive?
Rei continued his story, "Just when the men in black were about to fall, the person in charge of the black market got anxious and ordered his men to use tranquilizer guns. The moment those guns came out, the eight of us were hit instantly and lost our fighting power, leaving only the man and woman in the cloaks still standing. Then, the man in the cloak said ’this won’t do’, I thought he was going to do something big——"
Rei paused for a moment, then continued, "Indeed, it was a big move, a very big one. He used his own pheromone to knock out all the alphas present. Everyone curled up on the ground in pain. I can still remember the pain, it was unbearable."
"Wait, wait, wait——" Daleks interrupted, "Rei, you’re making this up. Tuz is an omega now, even his gland has atrophied and disappeared, how could he possibly release pheromones."
"That’s impossible." Rei retorted loudly, "Tuss’s pheromone was very powerful, not at all weaker than before, no, even stronger. I recognized him based on the scent of his pheromone and the fact that his legs were completely broken."
Ender looked at his brother, "You’re not lying?"
"Of course I’m not lying. If I’m lying, may I get hit by a car the moment I step out of the house." Rei said firmly.
"But Edgar, Cass, and Priscilla from Military Academy No. 2 all said that Tuz is an omega now. They wouldn’t make up a story, right?" Daleks was puzzled.
"That’s impossible, Tuz saved them, they wouldn’t slander him." Ender said.
"I don’t care what you think, the Tuss I met is an alpha, a very powerful one at that," Rei stated with certainty.
"Let’s put that aside for now. We’ll ask Tuss in person tonight. Now just continue with your story," Daleks suggested.
"Although the leaders were dominated by Tuss’s pheromones, they still have countless hidden enforcers. They didn’t want to let us go just yet. The situation was tense, and then, a sudden shift occurred—an alpha’s Sea of Consciousness went out of control..."
"At that critical moment, the woman in a cloak managed to calm down a dozen or so frenzied alphas," Rei’s tone became serious as he thought of the cloaked woman, still awestruck by her.
"Rei, you’re exaggerating the story too much," Daleks couldn’t stand it anymore.
"Of course you wouldn’t believe it, you didn’t see it," Rei snapped back.
"But you can’t just make up stories and expect us to believe them. Even if it’s a made-up story, at least make it plausible," Daleks said seriously.
Rei gave up explaining, "We shouldn’t wait until night, let’s go now. You may not believe me, but at least you should believe Tuss, right?"
Daleks and Ender exchanged glances across the room, wondered if Rei was really telling the truth. No, absolutely not, they secretly told themselves.
A frenzied alpha is incurable, no beta can save them. This is a well-known fact, like an absolute truth. There are no exceptions.
However, they were still skeptical about whether Tuss was an alpha. To confirm this, they decided to head to the mansion right away, they couldn’t wait a single second more.
Yuri and Tuss bought a bunch of groceries and hired two chefs. Neither Yuri nor Tuss was skilled in cooking, and they didn’t want their guests to get a stomachache, so they decided not to cook by themselves.
It was three in the afternoon, a few hours before the guests were due to arrive. Yuri was about to continue her middle school studies on the interstellarnet when the doorbell rang.
She paused, turned to Tuss and asked, "Who is it?"
Tuss checked the door’s surveillance, his face darkened and he stormed out angrily.
Yuri raised an eyebrow, Is it Daleks? Will he hold it against me if I go to watch him get a beating now?
After some thinking, Yuri decided to watch first and worry about that later.
Daleks was looking at the mansion’s grand entrance, sighing, "If I could have a place like this, I’d die content."
"Keep dreaming, unless you can cough up a starstone," Ender remarked.
Daleks: "...."
The door was flung open, Daleks was punched in the stomach before he could see who it was, he doubled over in pain, his face pale.
"Tuz, what are you doing?" Ender yelled angrily. He stepped in front of Daleks, blocking Tuss from attacking again.
"Move," Tuss said coldly.
"No. You have to give a reason for hitting someone," Ender was furious. It was his housewarming party, and people were getting punched as soon as they arrived.
"Ah, you want a reason," Yuri came out from behind Tuss, arms crossed. She looked like a mischievous queen from ancient times, always causing trouble.
She walked up to Daleks, looking down at him and stated, "The reason is that I complained that Daleks used his pheromones to oppress me."
At her words, Ender was speechless, he knew about that. Daleks really was in the wrong.
Daleks also froze. Now that he thought about it, he had gone too far.
"I’m sorry," Daleks apologized.
"It’s okay. It’s good to admit when you’re wrong," Yuri said. She didn’t hold a grudge.
Daleks thought the matter was settled, but then Yuri said, "I wanted to hit you myself, but I figured that Tuss hitting you would hurt more. So, I asked Tuss to do it."
Daleks’ face darkened, he pointed at Yuri and said, "Tuz, look how malicious she is."
Tuss, with a cold expression, said, "Daleks, do you know what crime it is for an alpha to bully an omega using pheromones?"
"A fine, and one to three years in prison," Daleks hung his head.
"In severe cases, lifetime imprisonment," Tuss added coldly. "Aren’t there many instances where omegas have lost their minds because they can’t withstand the pressure from alphas?"
Daleks hung his head even lower, "I truly know I was wrong. I won’t do it again."
Tuss grunted, not looking at him, and turned to Ender and Rei, "Let’s go."
"Tuss, my brother and Daleks don’t believe that you’re an alpha now. Show them some proof," Rei said.
