I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 29: She Has A Plan
Chapter 29: She Has A Plan
Yuri and Tuss were like two massive weapons on the battlefield. One wielded a whip that seemed to have eyes, bringing down enemies with every flick. The other had crutches that could extend and retract at will, always striking at people’s weak points.
The fight that could have ended quickly drastically changed with the arrival of Yuri and Tuss.
Not far away, the market manager watched this scene and furrowed his brow, commanding, "Prepare the tranquilizer guns."
The barely discernable whistling sound of projectiles through the air was heard just before Yuri managed to dodge slightly, yelling, "Watch out!"
Tuss managed to block a few shots with his cane.
The others were not so lucky. Of the eight of them, all were hit by tranquilizer darts, and within half a minute they fell to the ground, their bodies weak and unable to move.
"My friends, thank you for your help. We will remember this kindness. But we are outnumbered and destined not to escape today. The two of you should run," One of the eight people, Rei, shouted to Tuss and Yuri.
"Yeah, you guys go. Don’t worry about us."
"Escape and then come back to save us."
Others followed suit, shouting the same thing.
The tranquilizer guns were becoming increasingly dense. Yuri was considering whether to bring out the mecha, but she had never driven one, and Tuss’s physical condition was not good enough for now.
Just as Yuri was at a loss, a cold, domineering wooden fragrance came over.
Yuri swayed slightly, feeling a bit weak all over, like she had been drugged, her mind slightly confused, and the gland behind her neck slowly heated up.
The alpha pheromone was like an aphrodisiac.
In contrast, the other alphas on the scene were all gritting their teeth, curled up into balls, and dropped the tranquilizer guns to the ground.
The pheromone attack was indiscriminate. Rei and his group were closest to Tuss and bore the brunt of the strongest pheromones, suffering the most.
"Please retract your pheromones. I’m in so much pain," Rei pleaded. Judging from the amputated leg and the familiar scent of the pheromones, he had a rough idea of the identity of the caped man.
Tuss glanced at him and walked toward the commander.
The commander was a refined-looking middle-aged man who was now sitting on the ground, his forehead veins bulging and teeth grinding.
"Are you an S-tier alpha?" the commander asked. The next second, he denied his own guess, "No, the pheromone and oppressive feeling of an S-tier alpha are not so strong. So, are you SS-tier?"
Tuss, leaning on his cane and looking down at him, said, "I haven’t tested, I don’t know."
The manager didn’t believe him and bluntly said, "The doors to the black market are closed. You can’t get out."
"That’s why I came to negotiate with you." Tuss’s voice was firm and cold. "Let us go, or I will incapacitate all of you."
The manager looked at Tuss and laughed, "There are countless guns aimed at you in secret. If you do this, you will die too."
"I know," Tuss was still calm. "But you wouldn’t dare to gamble. If I decide to take everyone down with me, not a single alpha in the entire black market would escape."
The commander’s thoughts were guessed correctly, and his face stiffened with resentment. "I can outlast you. As long as I don’t give in, you won’t be leaving."
Tuss furrowed his brows, about to speak, when an alarm suddenly rang out from afar.
"Ah—"
"Somebody is going mad."
"It’s a mental eruption, stay away from him, run."
"It’s an A-tier alpha’s Sea of Consciousnes, we’re done."
With a loud crash, a shop’s door was kicked open, and people inside were scrambling out. A burly man was chasing behind the crowd, wielding a steel pipe, hitting everyone he saw with ruthless blows. Those struck by his steel pipe were either left with broken limbs if they were lucky or fell to the ground unconscious if the pipe hit their heads, their fates unknown.
A strong smell of gasoline assaulted the nostrils, and Yuri retched again. "That man is Ryo," she said to Tuss.
Tuss also noticed, "He’s out of his senses now."
As Tuss spoke, he picked up a tranquilizer gun from the ground and aimed at Ryo in the crowd.
With the whistling sound of the tranquilizer gun firing, Ryo managed to evade it perfectly.
Tuss was about to fire again when the commander sitting on the ground said, "You better leave. I don’t want to deal with another alpha mental outbreak that’s even higher ranked than Ryo’s in a few minutes."
It was well-known that alpha mental outbreaks were contagious.
"I am taking them with me." Tuss pointed to Rei and the others.
The commander scoffed, "No way."
"In that case, I’m not leaving either." Tuss said calmly, picking up the tranquilizer gun again.
Apart from Tuss, everyone else was also aiming at Ryo.
But even though Ryo was out of his senses, his ability to sense danger was astonishingly sharp. He grabbed two large men, positioning them as shields, one in front and one behind.
"Damn, he’s supposed to be insane, why does he still know how to protect himself?" the commander cursed.
As Ryo approached, the Sea of Consciousness of the alphas close to him also became chaotic. The unruly mental threads ran out from Ryo’s Sea of Consciousness, baring their teeth and claws, assaulting the alphas present.
Yuri was seeing this for the first time and was stunned. She muttered, "So alpha’s mental threads can leave the Sea of Consciousness?"
The number of alphas losing their senses was increasing. Their eyes were bloodshot, their faces twisted, they were wreaking havoc everywhere, and from time to time, they would punch their own heads.
Chaos in the Sea of Consciousness would make an alpha frantic and bloodthirsty. When the level of chaos reached its peak, the alpha would lose their senses, becoming a beast that only knew how to kill.
Yuri caught the mental threads fluttering in the air and contemplated for three seconds. She then said to the black market commander, "I’ll help you deal with these alphas having Sea of Consciousness eruptions, you let us go."
The anxious commander heard her words and scoffed, "You can deal with them? How? What you should be doing now is to leave while you’re still sane, otherwise, you’ll end up like them."
He assumed that Yuri was also an alpha and a high-ranked one at that.
The commander scrambled up from the ground, intending to leave before the raging alphas got to him.
"I have my own methods. If you agree, I can calm them down right now." Yuri stopped the fleeing commander.
With the frenzied alphas getting closer, the commander was frightened and desperate. "Okay, okay, I agree, just make them stop."
"Remember what you said," Yuri reminded him.
"Please, just hurry," the commander was nearly in tears.
Yuri smiled faintly, "Okay."
Tuss was looking at her worriedly, wanting to speak but holding back.
There had been cases before where betas had tried to forcibly tidy up the mental threads of alphas during a Sea of Consciousness eruption. But without exception, all attempts had failed, ending tragically with both the alpha and beta bleeding to death.
Gradually, people gave up on rescuing the rioting alphas, either letting them vent or sedating them and locking them up.
"Do you really have a solution?" asked Tuss. He didn’t want to gamble, didn’t want her to attempt this.
Yuri gave him a reassuring look, "Watch closely."
