I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 199: Believe in Her

Chapter 199: Believe in Her

On the large bed of a hotel, Yuri was leaning against the headrest, watching various banquets that had been held in the palace of the Empire.

The palace of the Empire was huge, so much so that every banquet was held in a different section of the palace. She was worried that if she recklessly wandered in, she might get lost.

If Kinx could lend a hand, it would be beneficial. If he didn’t cooperate, she would have no choice but to familiarize herself with the layout of the palace by sneaking in during the night.

Just then, a message from an unknown number popped up on her opticomputer: In ten days, the palace would host a birthday banquet for Prince Herbert, the Empire’s second prince. This would be the day when the most members of the royal family would be present.

Yuri gave a sly smile. She could wait ten more days.

Over the next few days, Yuri spent her time selling jade stones and buying unique goods from the Empire. Most often, she purchased various Empire-made metals.

Two days before Prince Herbert’s birthday banquet, Kinx sought her out again.

"You’re patient, I’ll give you that," Kinx said with a wry smile.

"Well, I’ve got to be to reel you in," Yuri shot back.

Kinx sat up straight, narrowing his eyes. "How confident are you? How many people do you have?"

"One hundred percent. I’m enough on my own," Yuri answered calmly.

Kinx chuckled at her audacity. "And the Alliance is okay with this? You’re the strongest beta in the galaxy. Aren’t they worried you won’t come back?"

Kinx stared intently at Yuri, betting that she was indeed who she claimed to be.

Yuri met his gaze without flinching. "They trust me because they know how capable I am. They know I can handle it alone."

With her confession, Kinx felt a weight lift. But he also felt ridiculous. Is the Alliance truly not worried about her?

"Yuri?" Kinx called softly.

"Kinx." Yuri responded, calling his name. The next second, her psychic power broke through Kinx’s Sea of Consciousness shield and invaded his consciousness.

Kinx’s face paled, and just as he was about to say something, a yawn overcame him.

In less than two minutes, despite his efforts to keep himself awake, he slumped in his chair, fast asleep.

Just before he lost consciousness, Kinx’s last thought wasn’t about whether Yuri would kill him to keep him quiet—He reasoned that his sudden sleepiness was because he had been too busy lately, not getting enough sleep, and it certainly wasn’t Yuri’s doing.

After two hours, Kinx awoke in his chair with a sore back and waist.

"You actually let me sleep for two hours," Kinx complained.

Yuri rolled her eyes. "What else? Should I have put you to bed?"

Kinx glanced at the room, then at the couch, pointing towards it.

"I’m too lazy to move you, besides, I’m a married woman," Yuri retorted confidently.

The frustration made Kinx’s chest ache, but then he noticed something different. His back was sore, his feet ached, but his head, which had been hurting for years, was surprisingly pain-free.

His eyes widened. "You weren’t lying. The people from the Alliance really weren’t bluffing."

He had previously thought that the Alliance’s claims on the interstellarnet about how comfortable the Sea of Consciousness would feel after being groomed by Yuri were false. To his surprise, it turned out to be true.

It felt as though he had returned to his teenage years, free of any mental disturbances and completely pain-free.

"Do you believe who I am now?" Yuri asked.

Kinx nodded. "I believe. But I don’t believe you alone can topple the entire royal family."

"That’s not your concern. All you need to do is provide me with a 3D map of the palace and accompany me to the banquet the day after tomorrow. Leave the rest to me. Even if something happens to me, you’ll only be blamed for misjudging people. But of course, nothing will happen to me. I have a score to settle, and I’ll take revenge for your sister along the way," Yuri’s tone was as casual as if she were discussing what to have for dinner.

She was so certain that Kinx could not argue.

"You’ve done your homework," Kinx said sarcastically, not only aware of his sister’s situation but also that he was an SSS-tier alpha.

His status as an SSS-tier alpha was known only to his parents, his sister, and his closest confidants.

In the Empire, any SSS-tier alpha not part of the royal family wouldn’t have a good end. They either died mysteriously young or died on the battlefield. Therefore, his parents had kept it a secret.

The royal family, they wouldn’t allow any potential threat to their reign to survive in the Empire’s territory.

On the day of Herbert’s birthday banquet, Yuri dressed in an expensive gown, adorned with a set of priceless jewelry, and accompanied Kinx to the palace.

After thorough screening, Yuri successfully entered the palace.

"Your right arm—" Kinx was curious how she had managed to pass the check.

"Don’t ask about my business, Kinx," Yuri said, her gaze fixed ahead. The moment she entered the palace, she released her psychic power, quickly memorizing every detail against the map Kinx had given her—every plant, every building, every corner...

"As your escort, you should hold my arm," Kinx reminded her.

"No need, we’re just friends, not in a relationship. Besides, no one cares about that," Yuri said dismissively.

Kinx twitched his lips, secretly envying the unknown Tuss.

Herbert’s birthday banquet was grand, with nearly ten thousand attendees.

When Kinx handed over his gift, he hinted at Yuri, "And yours?"

"I wasn’t invited, I’m just accompanying. No need for a gift," Yuri said confidently, her mind already considering the many gifts likely worth a fortune. She couldn’t leave them behind tonight.

Watching her large, spinning eyes, Kinx knew what she was thinking. A twitch tugged at his lips. She’s not only refusing to give a gift but planning to steal others’. What an interesting woman.

The banquet hall was extremely spacious, easily accommodating the crowd.

Yuri’s gaze moved through the crowd, settling on Theodore, Herbert, and Nina, who were standing far away. They were all dressed in luxurious attire and wore exquisite makeup, looking regal and reserved.

Looking at these few faces, Yuri was reminded of thousands more, a hatred so strong it threatened to burst from her chest. Theodore, Herbert, Nina, not a single one of you will escape.

"Stay calm," Kinx stepped in front of Yuri, blocking her view. "Don’t give yourself away."

Yuri exhaled deeply, "Yes, it’s just a few hours, I can wait."

Kinx looked down at the woman before him, and for some reason, he found himself believing that she truly could bring down the royal family that had tightly controlled the Empire for nearly a thousand years.
