I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 194: Foolish and Rich?
Chapter 194: Foolish and Rich?
No matter how much Tuss tried to convince Yuri that the child was innocent, Yuri still harbored an unsettled feeling. She was even somewhat reluctant to visit the child.
Tuss felt helpless, but he didn’t force her, waiting for her to come to terms on her own.
In the following days, Yuri piloted a mecha she had acquired from Officer Lyao, leaving early and returning late each day. Every time she came back, her dimensional button was packed full of insectoid pelts.
She was like someone bent on exterminating all the insectoids near the 458 Defense Line.
The insectoid hunter squads observed this daily pattern, and followed her, knowing that she only picked the pelts of high-ranking insectoids, discarding their meat and bones. As for the lower-ranking insectoids, she killed them without a second glance. The hunter squads picked up what she left behind. Sometimes there was too much for them, and they had to call others to help gather it.
Later, the hunter squads began to wait outside Planet 4581 each morning, tailing her as soon as she left the defense line.
"At the rate Yuri is going, she might wipe out all the insectoids outside the 458 Defense Line," one commented.
"She’s venting her bitterness, let her. If she eliminates them all, it would mean peace for our 458 Defense Line. Every year the minor insectoid waves kill many," another replied.
"That’s true. A few peaceful years wouldn’t hurt. But then we’ll have no bugs to hunt, and no astracredits to earn," a third noted.
"So we have to earn as much as we can now. We’re making more money in a day than we used to in a week. Save up, and later we can start some small business."
"I’ve been thinking about that too. I’m getting old, want to settle down a bit."
"..."
A month later, Yuri suddenly told Tuss, "I’m heading to the Empire."
Tuss said nothing, just stared at her. A month had passed, and her demeanor had become even more reserved.
"I will try to be back before the child is born," Yuri added.
Tuss sighed softly, embracing her, "Good, be back before the child is born. Also, our military ranks have been promoted, it’s time to recruit new soldiers. This time, you can recruit 20,000 and I can recruit 10,000. Do you want me to send out the recruitment announcement or will you?"
Yuri shook her head, "Let’s talk about that when I return."
Tuss was surprised for a moment, but then he smiled, "Alright then, everyone is waiting for you anyway, they all want to be in your squad."
Yuri merely pursed her lips without saying a word.
"Promise me, you will return. Return safely," Tuss said, kissing her forehead gently.
"Of course."
Yuri planned to leave quietly, but as she was about to step out the door, she found Tuss standing right behind her.
They faced each other in silence for three minutes.
Finally, Yuri turned around, activated her mecha, and hopped in.
Tuss watched as the mecha soared into the sky, disappearing into the horizon, his deep gaze like a silent pool of water. The Empire, Space-sparkle, you all deserve to pay.
Planet Poseidon, a well-known producer of various gemstones, was a paradise for jewel merchants throughout the universe.
On this day, an extravagantly wealthy and stunning woman arrived on Planet Poseidon.
Upon arriving on Planet Poseidon, the woman immediately headed to the most famous Gem Gambling Street on the planet. She spent more than thirty billion astracredits to buy over a thousand rocks, making the merchants’ eyes sparkle with glee.
The woman had the rocks delivered next to the gem cutting machine. She lounged on a chair, sipping her drink, and watched leisurely as the gem cutter worked.
The gem cutter’s expression changed as he worked. Cutting gems was his job, but to be asked to cut so many at once seemed a bit extreme.
"Can’t handle it?" the woman drawled, "Who’s the boss of this Gem Gambling Street? I think I can be considered a major customer, is this how you treat your major customers?"
At her words, the gem cutter became flustered. If the boss knew he was reluctant to cut gems, he could kiss his job goodbye.
The gem cutter mopped his brow and said, "I can handle it, I’ll start cutting right now."
After all, his shift ended at a certain hour, so he could take his time and not tire himself out.
The woman simply hummed in response, "Then get started."
The woman’s extravagant spending - buying a thousand rocks at once - quickly drew the attention of passersby on the street. A few curious onlookers gathered around.
"Miss, what do you do for a living?" a free-spirited man pulled up a stool and sat down next to her.
The woman glanced at him, then leisurely shifted her gaze away, "Why should I tell you?"
"Just making a friend. I’m Zack, what’s your name?" Zack asked casually.
"Bawu." Bawu, actually Yuri, responded nonchalantly.
"Nice to meet you, Bawu," Zack reached out his hand.
Yuri ignored him. Zack didn’t look embarrassed and naturally withdrew his hand, "Bawu, did you buy all these rocks because you see potential in them?"
Yuri shook her head, "I didn’t look, I’m just lucky. No matter how much I buy, I won’t lose."
Zack’s lips twitched as he said, "Heh, you sure are confident." In his mind, he thought, What kind of spoiled girl is she, doesn’t her family care about her spending?
Just then, the gem cutter exclaimed, "Pink!"
"Is it a diamond?" someone asked.
The gem cutter didn’t respond, but his hands moved faster.
"It’s jade."
"I’ve never seen such a rich pink color before."
"Nature is full of surprises, we’re learning something new today."
"Oh my, it’s beautiful."
"Name your price, I want it."
At this, everyone turned to look at Yuri.
Zack stared at Bawu, dumbstruck. Can it be true? Is she just that lucky?
"Start bidding, the highest bid gets it," Yuri still looked nonchalant.
"This unique pink color, and the size isn’t small, the price won’t be low," Zack mumbled to himself.
"Ten million," a confident voice rang out. It was the man who had first said he wanted it.
"Twenty million."
"Thirty million."
"Fifty million," the man glared at the crowd.
"Sixty million," someone was not intimidated.
"Eighty million," the man gritted his teeth.
When eighty million was called, everyone else fell silent.
The man transferred the money on the spot.
"Bawu, not bad at all, fetching such a high price for the first stone," Zack gave Yuri a thumbs up.
Yuri remained expressionless, she said indifferently, "Only eighty million, it’s nothing."
Zack was left speechless, he gave a hollow laugh. He was curious to see what else could come out of the rocks she bought.
On Gem Gambling Street, there were rough stones of all kinds of gems. After Yuri’s Enova and psychic power had leveled up, she could almost "see" what was inside the rocks clearly.
Nearly all of these over a thousand rocks had valuable content within them.
These are things from the Empire, if she didn’t take them for free, it would be a waste.
Yuri could already imagine the shocked faces of the people when she would reveal a thousand gems from these rocks.
She was even getting a little impatient.
Just as Yuri had expected, as one rock after another was cut open, the contents varied from diamonds to gems to jade, almost covering all the categories of gems found on the whole street.
The people present were completely dumbfounded.
