I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 180: A Fraud

Chapter 180: A Fraud

As soon as Yuri got back to the ground, Xiva rushed to her side anxiously, asking, "How are you feeling? Are you okay?"

Yuri took a moment to consider, then shook her head, "I’m alright, I don’t feel unwell."

"We can’t be too cautious. You should rest. I’ll bring the medic." Xiva said, before quickly heading off.

Yuri accepted his kind offer. She had been using Enova to protect her unborn baby throughout the day. She knew the baby was safe, but decided to heed Xiva’s advice and went to lie down in her dormitory bed.

The doctor arrived in less than five minutes after she had lain down. It was a woman.

The doctor brought a plethora of instruments with her and conducted various tests on Yuri. After asking her over a dozen questions, the doctor finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Both you and the baby are fine, but you need to take it easy. Don’t push yourself too hard."

The doctor and her colleagues had learned from Xiva that Yuri was pregnant. They had watched the live feed of Yuri’s heroic actions in battle and were scared to silence.

Unable to explain her situation to the doctor, Yuri simply nodded in agreement.

After the doctor left, Yuri logged into the channel to watch the live broadcast of the ongoing battle in space. But she was too late. The pirate’s warship had already fled, leaving only the Alliance’s warships and mecha on the screen. In less than half a minute, the broadcast ended.

Two minutes later, the door was pushed open and Tuss strode in, a concerned look on his face, "Are you hurt?"

Yuri shook her head, "I used Enova to protect myself and the baby."

Hearing this, Tuss visibly relaxed and praised her, "Good job."

Yuri was quiet, thinking, He’s treating me like a little girl ever since I got pregnant.

"I brought back some metal ore. Want to replenish your Enova with the genesis first?" Tuss asked, even as he helped her with her clothes, scarf, and hat.

Yuri had used quite a bit of Enova that day, and her crystal core was empty. At Tuss’s suggestion, her eyes lit up.

Outside, people were busy cleaning up the mess made by the six hundred alphas.

As Yuri and Tuss stepped outside, everyone warmly greeted them.

"Officer Yuri, your mechas has been brought back. It’s over there in the armory. We cleared a separate warehouse just for you," a soldier said with a smile.

"Your mechas?" Tuss asked, surprised.

"It’s my spoils of war. I won it," Yuri said proudly.

Tuss hesitated for three seconds before he gave her the harsh truth, "The spoils of war on the battlefield usually don’t belong to individuals."

Yuri’s face fell, "Then who does it belong to?"

"To everyone, to the Alliance," Tuss replied.

"Officer Yuri, don’t worry, we don’t want it. It’s all yours."

"The spoils we collect at the border, as long as they’re not extremely valuable, we can handle them."

"What you win is yours. If anyone tries to take it, we will all protest."

"..."

The soldiers reassured Yuri in unison, to ease her mind.

After listening, Yuri’s face brightened again, and she said cheerfully, "You guys have helped me a lot too. How about this, I’ll give you a hundred units, and the rest is mine."

After giving away a hundred, Yuri still had four to five hundred left, so she didn’t mind at all.

Besides, the soldiers had indeed made a contribution, so it was only right to share some with them.

Seeing that Yuri was sincere in her offer, they didn’t refuse. In unison, they shouted, "Thank you, Officer Yuri."

At this, Tuss felt a pang of jealousy.

His Yuri was too good, well-liked wherever she went.

Tuss had brought back quite a lot of metal ore this time. After Yuri had her fill of the genesis, he took her back to rest.

As soon as she fell asleep, Tuss shut down her opticomputer.

No sooner had he turned off Yuri’s opticomputer than his own buzzed. He quickly muted it and gently left the room.

Once he reached the first floor, Tuss picked up the call.

"Did you turn off Yuri’s opticomputer?" Officer Lyao’s tone was assertive.

"She’s sleeping," Tuss responded without guilt.

Officer Lyao scoffed, "I was sleeping too, and I didn’t reject your call."

"You’re a senior officer with greater responsibilities. It’s not the same for us," Tuss retorted confidently.

Caught off guard by Tuss’s response, Officer Lyao decided not to argue further and moved on to the main topic, "What’s the matter with Yuri? Have you not completed the total marking?"

"Do you think it’s incomplete after she’s had a child?" Tuss retorted.

After a full marking, a beta should only be able to help an exclusive alpha with the Sea of Consciousness issues.

Officer Lyao’s face changed, a mix of surprise and joy, before he finally sighed and held his forehead, "Then how do I explain her situation to others?"

"Why explain?" Tuss sounded dismissive, mocking, "Just because other betas can’t do it doesn’t mean Yuri can’t. She’s like no other."

Officer Lyao’s temple throbbed. This conversation was getting nowhere.

"You’ve both reached your recruitment limit. Starting tomorrow, people will start reporting to your base," Officer Lyao announced before ending the call.

"I want to buy a warship," Tuss quickly said.

Officer Lyao looked surprised, "Been mining every day, saved enough money?"

"I’ve saved six hundred billion astracredits. I want to buy a large warship," Tuss stated flatly.

Officer Lyao was both surprised and angry, speechless for a while. After taking a deep breath, he gritted his teeth and said, "I’ll give you six hundred billion astracredits, and you go and try to buy a big one for me."

Large warships usually cost over a trillion. Tuss had quite the imagination.

"Give me a discount," Tuss cheekily replied.

"Even with a discount, it wouldn’t cost a few hundred billion," Officer Lyao’s face reddened in anger.

"Then a small one, and a medium one. I’ll transfer the money to you now, get someone to bring the warship over quickly. We’ve severely damaged the Space-sparkle Pirate Group, they won’t let this go easily. Our safety is in your hands," Tuss said and immediately ended the call.

Bang!

A loud noise echoed in the military building.

The on-duty soldiers rushed over, only to be stopped by Lyao’s assistant near the door.

"What’s going on inside?" one of the soldiers asked.

The assistant looked calm as he said, "Nothing, he is just angry."

The soldiers didn’t believe it. Officer Lyao is famously easy-going, a known cunning fox of the Alliance. He’s usually the one getting others upset, who can possibly upset him?

"He really got angered. Someone is blackmailing the him," the assistant sighed helplessly.

The soldiers’ eyes widened, "Who is so audacious as to dare blackmail the officer?"

"You tell me who he is, and I’ll go and grab him," a hot-tempered soldier drew his gun.

The assistant shook his head, "You can’t capture him; his rank is higher than yours."

"Officer Lyao then? Can his rank be higher than Officer Lyao?" a soldier asked.

The assistant continued to shake his head.

"If Officer Lyao doesn’t agree, he can just ignore him."

"Name him, and after work, we’ll bag him."

"Yes, yes, we’ll bag him."

The soldiers rubbed their hands together in anticipation.

The assistant continued to shake his head, "You guys shouldn’t fight; if you do, Officer Lyao will be upset. Besides, all of you combined still wouldn’t be able to beat that person. As for the blackmail, well, if Officer Lyao willingly accepts it, we shouldn’t interfere."

Hearing this, the soldiers were dumbfounded. Can someone really be willing to be blackmailed?

The next second, a furious voice came from the office, "Sergeant Lew, transfer seven hundred billion from my account to the military’s public account, then fetch one medium and one small warship and immediately send them over to the 458 Defense Line."

"Yes, sir." The assistant stood upright and loudly asked, "Sir, under whose name should the two warships be registered?"

"Yuri Hiro," Officer Lyao responded without hesitation.

"Understood." The assistant turned and jogged away. Before leaving, he gave the soldiers a thoughtful smile.

The soldiers suddenly understood. Oh, it’s Yuri.
