Chapter 178: Who Says She Can’t?

Chapter 178: Who Says She Can’t?

Yuri retreated out of the door, and the nurse also rushed out, pulling out a small gun from her white uniform.

The bullets whizzed towards her. At such a close distance, Yuri couldn’t avoid them and had to use Enova as a shield.

In the nurse’s view, all the bullets hit Yuri and exploded rapidly, with flames and smoke spreading.

Everything within three meters became obscured.

"The indestructible Yuri, who survived multiple attempts on her life, has died by my hand," the nurse sneered. "I thought this would be harder."

With that, the nurse turned to leave.

At that moment, a blade as thin as a cicada’s wing appeared silently, gently gliding across the nurse’s neck and easily slicing open her throat.

"Heh—Heh—"

The nurse seemed to want to say something. Clutching her throat, her eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

As the smoke cleared, Yuri heard numerous footfalls. People were rushing towards her.

Yuri instinctively hid behind the door.

"She’s dead. She didn’t make it."

"She couldn’t have gotten far. Look quickly."

"Don’t worry. She should have our secret potion on her. She can’t escape."

"Tell Princess Nina of the Empire that the target is alive. We can implement the second plan."

"Understood."

Yuri didn’t know what the second plan these people were talking about was, but she was surprised that Nina, the sixth princess of the Empire, was here.

What’s their purpose? Just to take my life? Yuri had a bad feeling about this.

She sent a distress signal to Xiva.

Bang.

The door was kicked open. Hiding behind the door, Yuri sidestepped and the dagger in her hand flew towards the newcomer’s chest.

The man blocked it with his gun, not paying attention to the dagger.

However, this seemingly ordinary dagger was indestructible. It easily cut through the gun in the man’s hand, without losing any momentum, and pierced into the man’s chest.

"She’s here."

Someone suddenly shouted.

Startled, Yuri bolted outside.

The hospital alarm went off, and countless people ran out in fear.

"Do you smell that? There’s a fragrance."

"Hey, hey, hey, everyone is running out, why are you running in?"

"It’s dangerous. Don’t go in."

"Damn, those rushing in are all alphas. It must be that scent. All alphas, put on your masks, quickly."

"It’s too late."

Everyone watched in shock as the alphas, expressionless, with red eyes, ran mindlessly towards a certain location.

"Are they in heat?"

"No, it’s not like that."

"Don’t just stand there, restrain them. Administer the tranquilizer."

"Where’s the tranquilizer gun? Bring it out quickly."

The hospital was in chaos.

Bang.

Another gunshot hit the wall.

When their comrades inexplicably died from being stabbed by blades or daggers, those assassinators finally realized Yuri’s exceptional abilities. They dared only to attack from a distance, not daring to approach her.

"The report sent back only mentioned that she was completely marked, and her psychic power could no longer threaten other alphas, but it didn’t mention her bizarre skills."

"No wonder wave after wave of people can’t kill her. This woman is too eerie."

"What do we do now?"

"Hold on for another two minutes. If we still can’t kill her, we retreat."

"Increase firepower, bomb her—"

Pssh.

The blade cut through flesh, and blood trickled down. The man had no chance to finish his sentence.

The man looked at his comrade, and the comrade looked at him, their gaze falling on each other’s neck where a thin blade was lodged.

They both fell simultaneously, lifeless.

Yuri leaned against the wall. Her level-8 psychic power covered the entire hospital. Every chair and needle in the hospital couldn’t escape her surveillance.

One by one, the enemy fell to her blades. By the time the last enemy fell, the corridor was filled with alphas lured by the scent.

Yuri ducked into a doctor’s office, hiding behind the curtain. She quickly took off her outer clothes, bagged them up, and threw them into the dimensional button.

When Yuri emerged in clean clothes, she saw the alphas outside, looking lost as if they were searching for something.

"Quick, they’re there, prepare the tranquilizer guns."

"They seem to be immobilized, administer the tranquilizers."

The hospital staff and police officers worked together to subdue and tie up the disoriented alphas.

"Officer Yuri?"

Someone spotted Yuri.

Yuri came out from the crowd, wrapped the clothes soaked in the unidentified liquid a few more times, and handed them to one of the doctors, saying, "They probably ended up like this because of what’s on my coat."

The doctor took it, saying, "I’ll get this tested right away."

"I apologize for causing trouble for everyone," Yuri bowed to the crowd.

"You’re also working for the Alliance, it’s not your fault."

"Yes, it’s not your fault, you don’t need to blame yourself."

"The damned Empire people are to blame, not you."

"..."

The crowd consoled Yuri in turn.

Yuri was feeling warm inside, about to speak, when her opticomputer rang. It was Xiva sending her a communication request.

"Yuri, some unknown individuals have broken into the military base and attacked the Sea of Consciousness of the alphas. Six hundred alphas are now completely out of control. Don’t come back," Xiva quickly said.

"Did you catch the perpetrators?" Yuri speculated that the unknown individuals Xiva mentioned were probably Princess Nina of the Empire.

"Officer, an unidentified battleship has been detected above the planet," a soldier rushed in.

Xiva’s face changed as he said, "I’ll request support from the Alliance immediately, Yuri, remember, don’t come back."

Before Yuri could respond, Xiva had ended the communication.

Yuri looked seriously at the people around her and said, "Just in case, everyone should take shelter first."

Having said that, Yuri immediately ran outside.

"Don’t go, you’re pregnant!" A doctor cried out anxiously.

But before she could finish speaking, Yuri had already dashed out of the hospital. A green and red mecha rose from the ground, becoming a black dot in the sky.

Inside the mecha, Yuri sent a message to Tuss, informing him of the unknown battleship’s attack and asking him to return as soon as possible.

Five minutes later, Yuri arrived at the base.

The base was in chaos, with the frenzied alphas fighting and smashing everything in sight, regardless of friend or foe.

Xiva and a group of soldiers hid in the distance, daring not approach, watching with anxious faces.

"If this continues, they will die from the disruption in their Sea of Consciousness," the military doctor beside Xiva said with a grim face.

"What do you want me to do? The highest rank among the betas at our base is only A, they can’t stop them," Xiva said in despair.

"Hey, Officer Yuri is back," a soldier informed Xiva.

Xiva looked up to see the red and green mecha flying towards them, landing in front of the group.

"I told you to leave, why did you come back? Don’t you know your condition? You may get your baby hurt," Xiva bombarded Yuri.

Yuri, having been sprayed by his saliva, said, "If I don’t come back, what happens to these alphas?"

"They’ll deal with it as they can. You, a completely marked beta, can’t help them," Xiva said through gritted teeth.

Yuri raised an eyebrow and said, "Who says I can’t?"
