Chapter 159: [Bonus Chapter]Consequences
Feeling Tuss’s impatient hand about to undress her, Yuri swiftly brushed it away.
With a stern expression, she told Daleks and the others, "We’re leaving now."
Without waiting for a response, Yuri grabbed Tuss, turned into a blur, and dashed through the crowd, rushing out of the hotel. She summoned her mecha in front of the hotel and sped off.
Those left behind wanted to talk to Yuri, but by the time they ran outside, there was no trace of her.
At the scene of the incident, Zenitha was still lying on the ground, knocked unconscious by Tuss’s powerful kick.
"What do we do now?" Tyrone asked.
Ender looked grim, "I fear we can’t handle this."
He remembered Suki’s words about taking extreme measures. That medicine wasn’t just a common aphrodisiac.
"You’re worried that the drug Tuss took isn’t simple?" Hoolin guessed.
"I’m worried it’s a drug that triggers alpha to permanently mark beta," Ender said coldly, revealing his deepest concern.
Upon hearing this, everyone gasped.
Yuri wasn’t even twenty yet, and she had a whole five years until she was twenty-five. As the Alliance’s strongest beta, in five years, she could have guided hundreds of thousands, even millions of alphas through the Sea of Consciousness, and saved countless lives...
If Tuss marked her now—
They couldn’t even begin to imagine the consequences.
"Contact Officer Lyao," was Ender’s decision after much contemplation.
Yuri pushed the mecha’s speed to its limit, streaking across the sky like a shooting star.
Inside the mecha, Tuss had somehow managed to remove Yuri’s gland patch. The fresh scent reminiscent of grass after a rain filled the cabin.
Inhaling Yuri’s beta scent, Tuss’s emotions calmed for a moment.
With a thunderous halt, the mecha landed on the manor’s lawn. Yuri dragged Tuss out of the mecha. As he attempted to undress, Yuri stopped him.
"I’m hot." Tuss complained, his face flushed and his body drenched in sweat.
"Deal with it." Yuri ordered coldly, her voice tinged with psychic power.
Tuss looked at Yuri with a pitiful expression, startling her. Clueless about how to handle the situation, Yuri dragged Tuss from the mecha, rushed into the house, up the stairs, and back to their room.
As the room door slammed shut, a chill ran up Yuri’s spine, and her scalp prickled, as if something dreadful had awakened.
Glancing around the room, everything seemed normal, making Yuri wonder if she was overthinking things. However, the feeling of being hunted, the pounding of her heart, didn’t fade...
What’s going wrong?
Unbeknownst to Yuri, Tuss had thrown off the blanket covering him. His dark eyes were now a deep crimson, an intense and frightening red.
It was somewhat terrifying, making Yuri hesitate to look directly at him.
"Yuri?" Tuss’s voice was hoarse, as if confirming something.
"Tuss, have you sobered up? Are you still rational? You’re scaring me with this look, should we go to the hospital?" Yuri rattled off quickly.
Tuss fell silent again, his hands firmly gripping Yuri.
His sharp fangs emerged, glinting coldly.
A rich, woodsy scent enveloped Yuri instantly.
The damning pheromone.
Yuri crumpled, her eyes vacant as she stared at the ceiling.
The next second, Yuri recoiled in pain, her face turned pale...
No wonder all the betas avoid it—
Gradually, Yuri noticed that besides the pain, something seemed to have subtly changed. For instance, her Sea of Consciousness now had a foreign energy. And her psychic power, without her conscious control, had moved into Tuss’s Sea of Consciousness, settling there, refusing to leave.
Despite her attempts to pull it back, she failed.
The wedding hotel’s meeting room was temporarily commandeered as an interrogation room. In front of the room sat more than a dozen military officers. Ender and Daleks’s group sat against the wall, with Astra, Zenitha, Electra, and Suki standing in the center, along with a few hotel staff members who had got mixed in.
Officer Lyao, at the head of the table, had a dark expression, his sharp eyes seemingly filled with lethal intent.
Everyone present didn’t dare to breathe too loudly or look around.
"Should we try to stop it now?" One officer broke the silence.
"It’s too late," another officer replied.
"What should we do with these four?" Another officer asked.
"Detain them for now." Officer Lyao stood, leaving his seat, "I need to see the First Commander."
Without another word, he left the meeting room.
Once he was gone, everyone began talking at once.
"Is Officer Lyao going to tell the First Commander about this?"
"Does the First Commander deal with such matters?"
"Maybe not others, but this involves Yuri, he definitely won’t ignore it. You probably don’t know, but half a month ago, Yuri was helping four thousand alphas a day with their Sea of Consciousness."
Gasps echoed around the room.
All eyes turned to Astra, Zenitha, and Electra, full of condemnation. When they heard the number four thousand, their faces turned ashen.
Someone mocked, "You didn’t want to help those alphas? Congratulations, it looks like your wish won’t be coming true for a while."
As the officers and soldiers escorted Astra and the others away, Ender’s group also left the hotel.
"What do we do? Will Tuz be imprisoned?" Daleks voiced his worries.
"He was drugged, marking Yuri wasn’t his intention." Kilana tried to reassure Daleks and perhaps herself.
"Marking a beta under the age of twenty-five is a ten-year sentence. Will Tuz get away without punishment?" Daleks persisted.
"Though there are mitigating circumstances, he can’t fully escape responsibility in the matter of being drugged. Judges will say, he was careless, he was negligent, he wasn’t cautious... They might even suspect he got drugged on purpose," Hoolin stated gravely.
"Most importantly, he marked Yuri," Ender added.
Yuri, the strongest beta in the Alliance, even in the entire galaxy, was a lifeline for countless high-ranking alphas.
Even though the Alliance has seen the emergence of three SSS-tier betas, only Yuri could bring back the high-ranking alphas from the brink of melting down.
She was like a panacea, able to save lives at critical moments.
To the high-ranking alphas, she was as reliable as the hardest rock in the space.
But now, this panacea, their greatest rock, might be gone...
Ender shook his head. He didn’t know what was in store for Tuss, but his intuition told him that the upper echelons of the Alliance wouldn’t let Tuss off easily.
