I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 158: The Scheme
Chapter 158: The Scheme
Tuss followed the direction they had pointed out, sending Ender a text at the same time. "Where’s your fiancée?" he asked.
Ender, presumably busy, didn’t reply right away.
At that moment, Tuss found himself outside a few rooms marked with a "Lounge" sign.
"Yuri?" Tuss called softly.
There was no response.
"Looking for Yuri?" Zenitha appeared from around a corner.
Ignoring her, Tuss pulled out his opticomputer and messaged Yuri, "Where are you?"
His and Yuri’s opticomputers had location-sharing, so he could see that Yuri was nearby, within about fifty meters. However, he couldn’t figure out her exact location.
"I know where she is," Zenitha stated, afraid Tuss might not believe her. She added more details, "I saw her and Suki go that way."
Zenitha pointed in the direction of the corner.
Tuss hesitated, giving Zenitha a penetrating look as if trying to detect any lies.
His intense gaze gave Zenitha goosebumps, and she laughed awkwardly. "She’s just in the lounge up ahead, just around the bend. It won’t take you long to check."
After some thought, Tuss finally decided to follow her.
However, in a room down another hallway, Yuri was looking at a tearful Suki, her eyebrows furrowing deeply.
"Could you please persuade Ender for me? I’ve loved him for so many years, I want to marry him. And now, my dream has finally come true. But now, he’s thinking of calling off the engagement over a seating arrangement. I can’t accept it," Suki sobbed, a picture of gentle fragility in her tears.
Ignoring the content of her words, Yuri might have felt sympathy for her, but there were no ’ifs’.
"Do you still think this is just about a seating arrangement?" Yuri asked, beginning to doubt Ender’s judgement in people.
"Then what do you think it is? Ender got angry with me because I arranged for Astra and her friends to sit at your table, and that’s why he wants to call off the engagement," Suki’s tone was accusing, as if shifting the blame. It was clear that Yuri was the intended target.
"Let’s not even bring up the disputes between me, Astra, and Zenitha. Just the fact that you’ve only considered your own point of view since this started and not Ender’s proves that you don’t love him as much as you claim. Think about it, Suki." Yuri got up, ready to leave.
Seeing her about to go, Suki became desperate. "Yuri, you ruined my engagement party, and now you just want to leave like that?"
"You think I ruined your engagement party? Your party is not ruined. Don’t falsely accuse me, young lady." Yuri’s patience was running thin. She directly sent a communication request to Ender.
Ender on the other side quickly accepted. Before Yuri could say anything, he said, "Yuri, have you seen Tuz? He went to look for you."
"I haven’t. When was he supposed to find me?" Yuri frowned, a bad feeling rising in her heart.
She immediately ignored Suki’s attempts to stop her and opened the door.
"About ten minutes ago," Ender replied.
At that moment, Yuri saw the message Tuss had sent her ten minutes ago.
A sense of unease surged in Yuri’s heart. She spun around, her sharp eyes bore into Suki as though she were trying to see right through her. "Is this a scheme of yours? What are you planning?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Suki shook her head, a flicker of guilt flashing quickly in her eyes.
Yuri didn’t want to argue further. "Ender, something’s happened to Tuss. Check the security footage right now."
"Alright, I’m on it," Ender sprinted away.
Soon, Daleks, Hoolin, and others arrived.
"With so many lounges, how do we search?" Daleks looked frustrated.
"One by one, we break the doors down," Hoolin flexed his wrist.
"Sounds good. I’ll start from here, you guys check other areas," Tyrone said and swiftly kicked at the closest door.
As they started breaking into rooms, Yuri stayed in place. In a spot invisible to others, her Enova and psychic power were deployed together.
BANG.
A loud noise echoed.
"Over there," Yuri suddenly said.
On hearing this, everyone rushed towards the source of the noise.
The commotion attracted the attention of the wedding guests.
"What’s happening?"
"I heard someone is missing."
"A kid?"
"No, an adult. They were talking about looking for someone. I thought I misheard."
"Adults don’t just get lost. You don’t suppose it’s some secret affair, and the spouse is catching them in the act?"
"Well, that’d be interesting. Let’s go see."
"....."
When Yuri and the others arrived, they saw a towering Tuss, holding Zenitha by the collar and dragging her out of the room.
As soon as he was outside, he dropped Zenitha on the ground. But that wasn’t all; he kicked her away, saying just one word coldly, "Filth."
"Tuz doesn’t seem right," Daleks commented.
Everyone else noticed Tuss’s change as well. He was usually just cold, but now, he was also ominous, his looks intimidating. They instinctively wanted to stay away from him.
"Darn it, his pheromones are leaking," Tyrone said, his face pale.
"All betas on the scene, move away," Ender shouted as he arrived. When Suki tried to leave, he grabbed her wrist. "What kind of drug did they give to Tuz?"
"I...I don’t know," Suki whimpered, Ender’s grip hurting her.
"I’ll ask one more time. What drug did they give to Tuz? If you don’t tell me, we’re through as friends," Ender’s voice was filled with disappointment and icy chill.
"But I really don’t know. They just said it was an experimental forbidden drug and there’s no antidote yet. They said something about being prepared to pay the price if the plan fails, and how they’re tired of maintaining the Sea of Consciousness for those alphas," Suki sobbed.
Upon hearing this, Ender let her go, his voice cold. "Go away. Don’t ever show up in front of me again."
Yuri glanced at Suki and then turned her gaze to Tuss, who was not far away. Tentatively, she called out, "Tuss?"
At that moment, Tuss seemed like he was on fire. His exposed skin was reddish, and heat was emanating from him...
Upon hearing Yuri’s call, his blood-red eyes momentarily cleared, and he turned to look at her.
But the next moment, his gaze was again consumed by desire.
Yes, desire.
Yuri had seen Tuss like this countless times. No, the Tuss she knew at least had his sanity. But the Tuss right now was purely driven by desire.
"He’s suppressing it," Ender suddenly said, then explained, "He’s fighting against the drug’s effects. Look at his hand."
Everyone turned to look at Tuss’s hand where his veins looked like they were about to burst.
"It’s no use. It must be a very potent drug," Yuri said, taking slow steps towards Tuss. "I’ll take him back to the manor. Astra and Zenitha are now your responsibility."
"Yuri, Tuz is a bit dangerous right now," Daleks tried to dissuade Yuri.
Yuri shook her head. "It’s okay. I can handle him."
With that said, Yuri had already reached Tuss.
Tuss sniffed, recognizing the familiar scent. He lunged at Yuri, burying his fluffy head in her chest.
Shit. Daleks and the others widened their eyes, thinking, Man, you need to cool down a bit.
