I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 150: Crisis
Chapter 150: Crisis
Recently, Yuri had been spending all her time in the Grand Theater, not even going back to the manor. When awake, she was constantly helping alpha’s group smooth out the Sea of Consciousness. When tired, she would just doze off, then wake up and carry on with her task. Aside from sleep, her whole time was dedicated to assisting alphas with the Sea of Consciousness.
The soldiers didn’t understand why she was pushing herself so hard, but they sighed in relief. If Officer Yuri maintained this state, her chances of being aware of the happenings on the interstellar net were practically nil.
One day, upon waking, Yuri didn’t immediately get back to working on the Sea of Consciousness for the alphas. Instead, she decided to check on her own mental state. Seeing the expansion of her spiritual power, a satisfied smile spread across her face.
She was at the peak of level seven, just one opportunity away from level eight.
"Sergeant Ryu," Yuri suddenly called.
Sergeant Ryu promptly ran over. "Yes, how can I assist?"
Yuri nodded and said, "Hold off on transporting alphas to Planet alpha. In two days, I need to go to the border battlefield."
Sergeant Ryu stood there, shocked. "Why? Has anyone said anything to you?"
"No reason in particular. Isn’t it only natural for an officer like me to go to the battlefield?" Yuri seemed puzzled.
Sergeant Ryu, looking troubled, said, "Officer Lyao instructed me to keep you here on Planet alpha by any means."
Yuri waved her hand dismissively. "He tends to make a mountain out of a molehill. Bring all the remaining alphas who still need their Consciousness smoothed. Once I finish with them, I’ll set off."
Sergeant Ryu nodded, all the while thinking, I need to notify Officer Lyao ASAP.
However, he discovered that he couldn’t get in touch with Officer Lyao, nor could he reach the person who was with him.
"Is the situation at the front that serious?" Sergeant Ryu mumbled to himself. "In that case, I must prevent Officer Yuri from leaving."
He thought about it and contacted Commander Martin. Martin had a good relationship with Officer Lyao and Yuri had also helped him smooth out his Sea of Consciousness. Maybe Martin could talk her out of leaving.
As soon as he got through to Commander Martin, he heard him blurt out, "The situation at the border isn’t looking good, I’m on my way there now. You could try reaching Perseman, or if all else fails, the First Commander."
Sergeant Ryu thought he would like to do that, but his rank was too low, he wouldn’t be granted an audience.
Before Sergeant Ryu could try reaching the First or Second Commanders, Yuri had finished helping all the soldiers in the Grand Theater smooth their Seas of Consciousness.
When the red and green mecha appeared, Sergeant Ryu was almost in tears. "Won’t you take a rest?"
Yuri shook her head. "I’ll sleep inside the mecha. Don’t worry about it, when I see Officer Lyao, I’ll explain. He won’t blame you."
With that, Yuri jumped into the mecha, closed the hatch, and the next second, the red and green mecha rose into the sky, becoming a speck before disappearing into the horizon.
Once she entered the sea of stars, Yuri piloted the Enova to change the mecha’s exterior color to a deep black, a color that would better conceal her movements. She then set up an automatic pilot program.
She was exhausted and needed a good sleep.
Both Sergeant Ryu and Officer Lyao didn’t want her to go to the battlefield, which meant the situation there wasn’t optimistic. The worse the circumstances, the more vital it was for her to be well-rested and prepared.
On the other hand, on the border battlefield...
Third Commander Boan and Officer Lyao stood at the junction of the Alliance and the Empire, where the Empire was engaged in combat with a level eight insectoid queen.
"Boan, if we work together, there might be a glimmer of hope. Otherwise, neither the Empire nor the Alliance can defeat this insectoid queen," Prince Hill of the Empire said to Third Commander Boan.
Boan remained unfazed. "You invited this trouble, you should handle it."
"I’ve already punished the person who acted rashly. But now isn’t the time to discuss this. Boan, we should set our grudges aside for the greater good," Hill urged.
Boan didn’t respond, keeping a wary eye on any Empire soldiers who intended to get close to the Alliance, preventing them from tossing the insectoid queen’s eggs into Alliance territory.
As Hill was struggling with the level eight insectoid queen and saw Boan remaining unmoved, his face darkened. "Don’t blame me for being underhanded... Listen up, men, throw the insectoid queen’s eggs into the Alliance territory."
"Hill, you scoundrel," Boan bellowed in rage.
Seeing the Empire soldiers truly throwing the eggs toward the Alliance, Boan hardened his heart, aiming his cannon at those soldiers, bombarding them.
"Boan, are you trying to break the peace treaty between our two nations?" Hill roared.
"You in the Empire are the first to break the treaty!" Boan’s gunfire continued non-stop, pushing back the Empire’s mecha.
"Boan, do you really not want to join forces?" Hill’s patience was running thin.
"I’ll say it again. This is the mess you made, you should clean it up yourselves," Boan replied firmly.
"Fine, very well." A hint of ruthlessness flashed in Hill’s eyes.
Afterward, Hill kept running toward the Alliance’s defense line, trying to lure the level-eight insectoid queen. Every time he approached, Boan’s gunfire aimed at him, his actions quick and ruthless, as if he wanted to put him in a dangerous position.
Hill didn’t give up. He dodged and attacked the insectoid queen at the same time—
Finally, after many attempts, the level eight insectoid queen followed him, moving towards the Alliance’s defense line.
Boan, with a stern face, said to Officer Lyao, "I’ll leave the battlefield to you. I need to intercept the insectoid queen."
"Be careful. I’m worried Hill might take this opportunity to attack you," Officer Lyao warned.
"Heh, not only will he sneak attack, but so will I," Boan scoffed.
Thus, the two SSS-tier Alphas jointly faced the level eight insectoid queen, both trying to lure the queen into the other’s territory. The situation was at a stalemate.
Apart from the level eight insectoid queen, other insectoids continuously joined the battlefield.
Tuss didn’t know how many insectoids he had killed by now. He dragged his tired body off the battlefield, persuaded by his comrades.
"Did the Empire dig up the insectoids’ nest, driving all the insectoids out?"
"Don’t know about the nest, but they definitely unearthed the eggs of the level eight insectoid queen."
"So these insectoids were summoned by the insectoid queen?"
"Most likely."
"..."
Tuss stayed quiet, listening to the chatter on the public communication channel.
He didn’t enter the battleship, but drove his mecha to the rear of the ship. Then he pulled out the medical pod and climbed inside. The medical pod could alleviate his fatigue and rapidly recover his body.
Tuss closed his eyes and fell asleep instantly. When he woke up, he found that sixteen hours had passed. Just as he emerged from the medical pod, he heard people on the public chat anxiously saying, "Third Commander has been ambushed by Prince Hill and Princess Jira of the Empire. His Sea of Consciousness is unstable, and he is in a critical condition. Everyone, work together and bring the Third Commander back."
"It’s over, the level-eight insectoids are charging towards us."
"Officer Lyao has gone to stop the insectoid queen."
"I’ll go and stop her, you guys go save the Third Commander," Tuss said. As soon as he finished speaking, he drove his red and green mecha towards the junction of the Empire and the Alliance.
