Chapter 151: A Death Wish?

When Boan and Hill teamed up to battle the level-eight insectoid queen, Boan was constantly on guard against Hill’s firepower, wary of any potential attack on him.

However, while he had prepared for Hill’s artillery, he hadn’t anticipated the presence of Jira, the Empire’s most formidable SSS-tier beta, within Hill’s robot. Catching Boan off guard, Jira thrust his psychic blade into Boan’s Sea of Consciousness.

Thankfully, Boan reacted quickly. Sensing danger, he created distance between them instantly; otherwise, his Sea of Consciousness would have collapsed, and he would have been killed on the spot.

But his situation was still grim. His psychic shield was unstable, and his resistance to the insectoid queen’s psychic power had fallen to zero.

"You should retreat. Let Zenitha and the others stabilize your Sea of Consciousness. I’ll handle the insectoid queen for now," Officer Lyao advised him.

"You won’t be able to hold off the level-eight insectoid queen," Boan knew he had to retreat, but he also recognized Lyao’s limitations.

Once he backed down, the Alliance soldiers would be left to face the insectoid queen.

"I’ve already requested backup. Get back and stabilize your Sea of Consciousness. Once it’s steady, you can return," Lyao urged, already launching attacks on the insectoid queen, all of which had missed.

Right now, his distance from the insectoid queen was too great, which gave it the opportunity to dodge.

But if he got too close, he feared he wouldn’t be able to resist its psychic force.

He shrugged it off, deciding he didn’t have time for caution.

Officer Lyao gritted his teeth and charged towards the insectoid queen.

Seeing this, all Boan could do was curse at Prince Hill and his niece Jira before turning to find their Alliance’s beta.

Along the way, a distinctive red and green mecha brushed past him. Boan couldn’t help but shout out, "Tuss, be careful! Remember, your beta is waiting for you back home."

"I know," Tuss replied, his voice unnervingly calm in contrast to his frantic actions.

Hearing Tuss’s voice, Boan sighed in relief, "Good, anger hasn’t clouded your judgment."

However, he soon realized he might have sighed too soon.

The red and green mecha showed no sign of slowing down and charged straight towards the insectoid queen—no, it rammed into it.

"Darn it, Tuss! You’ll get yourself killed!" Boan shouted, hopping mad.

Out of everyone’s sight, the red and green mecha didn’t merely collide with the insectoid queen. Just within a few feet of the insectoid, it thrust a long, sharp steel pin into the insectoid queen’s impenetrable skin.

Simultaneously, the mecha fired a series of bullets.

Snap!

Boom!

The insectoid swatted Tuss away just as the bullets exploded.

The combined force of the swipe and the explosions flung the red and green mecha miles away. It now looked like a piece of scrap metal spewing smoke.

"Are you still alive?" Boan asked.

Tuss coughed twice before replying weakly, "Barely."

"Are you crazy? You just rammed straight into it. Weren’t you scared its psychic power would shatter your Sea of Consciousness?" Boan asked, struggling to contain his anger.

"My psychic shield is a bit sturdier than yours," Tuss said. Before setting off, Yuri had not only helped him groom his Sea of Consciousness but also reinforced the shield around it.

Boan was at a loss for words. Frustrated, he decided to let it go. He had to find a beta to help him deal with the issue of his Sea of Consciousness.

After recovering his breath inside the mecha, Tuss stood up with his aching body. He needed to check if there was any issue with the mecha.

Suddenly, his opticomputer rang. He looked down and muttered, "It’s Yuri."

Tuss hesitated for three seconds, then decided to answer.

In the next moment, Yuri’s hologram appeared inside the mecha. She took a glance around the mecha, then looked at Tuss and said indifferently, "Quite a tough fight."

Just as she finished speaking, Martin’s anxious voice echoed in the public chat channel of the mecha, "Lyao, hold on, I’m coming to save you."

Tuss enlarged the screen of the mecha so Yuri could also see the battlefield situation.

In the screen, a black humanoid mecha had lost an arm to the level-eight insectoid queen’s claw. Unsatisfied, the queen reached out with another claw towards the black mecha’s abdomen.

Boom.

A dazzling cannon fire shot towards the insectoid queen’s claw. The claw quickly withdrew, and the queen turned to deal with Hill and the others from the Empire.

While dishing out firepower like it cost him nothing, Martin was trying to get closer to Officer Lyao to get him out of there.

"We can’t leave Officer Lyao there. His Sea of Consciousness won’t be able to take it," Tuss said. He sat in the mecha’s pilot seat and pushed the speed to the maximum.

Yuri’s heart clenched. In her view, the level-eight insectoid queen kept growing bigger and bigger.

Suddenly, it turned its head.

Looking into those golden vertical pupils, even though she was just a hologram, her heart seemed to tighten.

This was the most powerful insectoid Yuri had ever seen so far.

The red and green mecha rushed at the level-eight insectoid queen in an almost suicidal way, bombarding its nose and eyes with cannon fire.

It completely enraged the level-eight insectoid queen.

As the queen launched its attack, the red and green mecha pulled off an air drift and flew towards Hill and the others from the Empire.

As the queen left, Martin threw a net to catch the wrecked black mecha and started to drag it towards the warship.

"Shoot that red and green mecha down," Hill ordered angrily.

"That’s Tuss’s mecha," Jira explained. She had used the Alliance’s interstellarnet and knew that the red and green mecha had become almost exclusive to Tuss and Yuri in the Alliance. It wasn’t that the Alliance prohibited others from using this color scheme, but rather it was seen as an honor. Other mechas didn’t use this color, making it exclusive to these two.

"Then it should be shot down all the more," Hill gritted his teeth. Battles were always chaotic, and friendly fire was nothing unusual. Even if he accidentally hurt or even killed Tuss, he’d have a very good justification.

While Tuss was avoiding the queen’s attack, he also had to be careful of the Empire’s cannon fire. He was in a tough spot, and several times he was almost hit.

At this moment, the rest of the Alliance soldiers arrived.

"Your Sea of Consciousness can’t withstand the insectoids’ psychic power. Don’t come near," Tuss warned coldly.

However, the soldiers wouldn’t listen. One mecha after another charged forward with determination.

"You’re still a student, we can’t leave such a powerful enemy to you alone," one of the soldiers said to Tuss.

Tuss frowned, "You can just attack from a distance."

But distance attacks are almost ineffective against the insectoid queen, The soldiers thought to themselves.

With reinforcements arriving from the Alliance, the Empire had to temporarily halt their artillery fire targeting Tuss.

Inside the red and green mecha, Yuri was constantly observing the level-eight insectoid queen. When she saw it blink, a cold sensation crawled up her spine, "Retreat, all Alliance soldiers retreat quickly," she shouted.

Tuss was confused, but upon hearing the terror in Yuri’s voice, he immediately pulled back without a word. At the same time, he shouted on the public chat channel, "Everyone, retreat quickly. Quick--"

A ripping sound echoed through the public chat channel. The soldiers, without a second thought, instinctively obeyed the command and began to retreat, which left the Empire’s soldiers bewildered, wondering what was happening.
