I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 128: Defeat in a Row
Chapter 128: Defeat in a Row
Going out of the Military Headquarters, Yuri and Tuss made their way back to the manor.
"Are you really okay with this?" Tuss was still concerned. Being in charge of all the alphas in the Alliance, the numbers were overwhelming.
"I’m not worried," Yuri confidently assured, "Officer Lyao wouldn’t give me a workload I can’t handle." After all, even if he tried, the higher-ups in the Alliance wouldn’t let it happen. They wouldn’t exhaust their resources as long as they needed her.
Tuss understood this, but voiced his worry, "I’m afraid it might upset you."
"Why would it?" Yuri wondered, puzzled. Increasing my psychic power while earning money—what is there not to like?
"The mindscapes of alphas vary greatly, often filled with violence, bloodshed, desolation, and darkness, with no trace of life. Betas entering an alpha’s mindscape can be influenced by these emotions, causing discomfort. After tending to an alpha’s mindscape, it typically takes a day or two to stabilize their feelings," Tuss explained, his eyes deepening, "However, I noticed you don’t seem to struggle with this."
Yuri considered this and said, "Maybe I’m too strong. Their influences can’t affect me."
Tuss: "....."
Her response was genuinely frustrating.
The next morning, Yuri and Tuss rose before dawn, piloted their lev to school. As soon as they boarded, they switched to autopilot and reclined on their beds, falling back asleep.
Over forty minutes later, the lev arrived at the main gate of Military Academy No. 1. Hand in hand, the two alighted from the lev.
The gate guards were surprised to see them. One guard asked Yuri, "Here for class?"
Then he turned to Tuss, "When did you leave yesterday?"
Yuri and Tuss: "....."
Luckily, the guard was merely curious and didn’t require answers. He let them pass without hindrance. Once they successfully passed through the scanners, he didn’t bother them anymore.
Rushed for time, Yuri and Tuss entered the school grounds and immediately headed for their respective classrooms.
Many people stopped Yuri along the way. They gazed at her in shock, trying to speak but ultimately managing only a "Long time no see."
Yuri acknowledged them with a slight nod, responding, "Long time no see."
When she walked into the classroom, the students of the first class of Mecha Manufacturing were stunned. One blurted out, "They finally got you fixed up?"
Yuri grimaced internally. Do I really look that much like an android?
Ignoring their questions, she found a seat and sat down. However, her silence didn’t stop the others from crowding around her, chattering away.
"You’re as beautiful as before."
"You’ve filled out a bit, even prettier now."
"Your skin is smoother than porcelain. The designer sure knew public aesthetics."
Their eyes were practically glued to Yuri’s face.
Unable to tolerate their intrusion any longer, Yuri slammed her palm on the desk, "You should all go to an optometrist and get your eyes checked."
Just then, the teacher walked in and everyone returned to their seats.
At noon, when school was dismissed, Yuri was about to head back to the dorm when she noticed everyone running in the same direction.
"Yuri, let’s go, let’s see what the fuss is about," Sagato took her hand, guiding her to join the crowd.
"What’s happening?" Yuri asked.
"A fight," Sagato replied with excitement, "Theodore challenged Hoarah, they’re going to duel on the platform."
Yuri raised an eyebrow, "Hoarah accepted?"
Hoarah didn’t seem to be a fan of combat.
"After Theodore sent over a dozen challenges, Hoarah had to accept. Otherwise, he would lose face staying at Military Academy No. 1. After all, our academy doesn’t tolerate cowards," Sagato spoke with a firm tone.
Yuri was somewhat surprised, "So he’s going to fight even though he knows he’ll lose?"
"Of course. It’s forgivable to lose, but it’s cowardly not to fight."
"That makes sense."
By the time Yuri and Sagato arrived, the fight had already begun on the platform.
"Yuri, you’re here," Daleks was relieved to see her. With Yuri around, that Jira wouldn’t dare to cause trouble.
Upon seeing Yuri, Ender’s face relaxed, "Have you had lunch?"
Saying this, he pulled out a few bottles of Nutrient Fluids from his dimensional button and handed them to Yuri. Yuri instinctively caught them, reading the label, "A new flavor?"
"Yeah. Just released. Try and see if you like it," Ender suggested.
Without any delay, Yuri opened the bottles. Within a few minutes, she finished them all, "It tastes good."
"I’ll have some delivered to you."
"Sure."
"Isn’t it uncomfortable to drink so many Nutrient Fluids at once?" Sagato looked at her worriedly, her eyes flickering towards Daleks and Ender. Why are these two so nice to Yuri? Even if she is their good friend’s girlfriend, this seems excessive, and suspicious.
"No, I feel fine," Yuri replied nonchalantly, "The duel is about to end."
Sure enough, the next moment, Hoarah was kicked off the platform by Theodore, unable to stand.
Seeing this, the students of Military Academy No. 1 looked rather embarrassed.
Before anyone could react, a girl rushed towards Hoarah. Her face was full of deep concern as she said, "Are you okay? Let me help you to the infirmary."
"No need," Hoarah refused. He picked himself up and left the arena without looking back.
Sagato curled her lips in disdain.
Yuri didn’t pay attention to the girl and Hoarah’s interaction. She was focused on the girl’s strength, which was the strongest psychic power she had encountered so far.
"Is she the Third Princess of the Empire, Jira?"
"Yuri, you’ve heard of her?" Daleks asked in surprise. Didn’t Yuri just wake up yesterday?
"Just a guess. Seems like I was right," Yuri’s gaze was still on the platform where now, Hoolin and Herbert, the Second Prince of the Empire, were present.
"Hoolin is a bit inexperienced," Ender remarked.
"Hoolin can’t win?" Daleks’ face fell, "I’ll call Tuss over."
Saying this, he immediately sent Tuss a message.
Neither Ender nor Yuri stopped him. The Alliance couldn’t keep losing, it was too humiliating.
"I can’t reach him," Daleks frowned.
Yuri tried to reach Tuss as well, but with no luck. "Should I go then?" she suggested.
"Let them lose. These so-called ’pride of the Alliance’ need to take a hit once in a while, otherwise they’ll think they’re invincible," Ender indirectly rejected Yuri’s proposal.
Yuri didn’t insist, "Alright then."
Ten minutes later, Hoolin was indeed defeated.
Daleks and Ender helped Hoolin off the stage, spraying medicine on his wounds.
"They were brutal," Daleks gritted his teeth.
"I would’ve been just as brutal," Hoolin retorted, not backing down.
The battle on the platform continued. The Empire sent up another student, while Military Academy No. 1’s representative was now Thanos.
Yuri almost forgot about this guy, Tuss’ old adversary.
