I Married A Degraded Alpha
Chapter 127: Officer Lyao, A Pimp?

Chapter 127: Officer Lyao, A Pimp?

Officer Lyao powered down the Defense System and surveillance gear at the Military Headquarters and dismissed almost half the guards. He then sent precise coordinates to Tuss, stating, "The room’s empty. You come here."

Half a mile from the Military HQ, Yuri and Tuss were decked out in their uniforms. Yuri looked at Tuss, asking, "You sure about this?"

"Let’s see," Tuss responded with a smirk, crouching down slightly, "Hop on."

Yuri climbed onto Tuss’ back, pulled her cap low and said, "Ready."

As soon as she finished speaking, Tuss made his move. In the blink of an eye, everything around them faded into oblivion. If it wasn’t for Tuss wrapping her in an Enova shield, Yuri was certain the wind would’ve ripped her to shreds.

He was faster than before.

At the Military HQ, the guard at the entrance frowned, turning to his comrade, "Did you feel a gust of wind?"

His partner scanned the surroundings, shaking his head, "Nope."

"Must’ve been my illusion. The security’s too lax today, making me see things."

"Don’t worry, the officer must have his reasons. Let’s just carry on as usual."

Officer Lyao watched the two suddenly appear before him, a spark of surprise flitting across his face. He rose to close the door before turning to them, "You just strolled right in?"

Without waiting for Tuss to respond, he added, "With that speed, if it were me, I’d just think it was the wind."

Officer Lyao looked at the fast-maturing young man before him, a sense of pride welling within him. Turning to look at Yuri on Tuss’ back, he remarked, "You’ve gained some weight."

Her face, once sharp and angular, had softened slightly, giving her a healthier appearance.

"Sir, you must be mistaken," Tuss countered, his face stern, his eyes flashing a warning.

Officer Lyao stifled a chuckle, quickly adding, "You were too thin before. You look better now, of course. It wouldn’t hurt to gain a few more pounds."

Yuri interjected, "...Should I get to work?"

She wasn’t too bothered about weight gain or loss. After all, she wouldn’t let herself get too plump.

The room they were in shared a wall with the conference room. Yuri divided her psychic power into five streams, effortlessly piercing the wall to enter the conference room, breaking through the alphas’ Sea of Consciousness shield to access their Sea of Consciousness.

Inside the conference room, five commanders, who had been busy with their papers, suddenly looked up, faces shifting.

"What’s wrong?"

The others turned their gazes towards them.

The commanders looked confused and uncertain, their initial tension and vigilance morphing into doubt and realization, before they returned to their seats.

"What the heck’s going on?" Others, both impatient and curious, asked.

What was with the five of them? It was as if they were putting on a show, changing expressions so quickly.

"Well, she must be here. She’s probably sorting our Sea of Consciousness."

"Must be her no-nonsense approach."

"And a tad aggressive."

"She’s a bit rough around the edges, but she gets results fast. Any other beta would take half an hour to break our thick shields."

"True that."

The others listened to their conversation, shocked. "She got into your Sea of Consciousness just like that?"

"Yup, it was swift and harsh. I felt it."

"Is that the power of an SSS-tier? Is it that much different from an SS?"

"Taking on five at once, that’s impressive."

"How else do you think she managed thousands of soldiers in just a few days?"

"..."

On the other side of the wall, Yuri nervously touched her nose. She had indeed been a bit rough this time.

When all the commanders in the conference room fell asleep, their snores filling the room, Yuri withdrew her psychic power. She quietly observed the changes in the Ocean of Awareness, whispering, "It’s expanded a little, the width of a hair strand."

"What did you say?" Officer Lyao looked up from his paperwork.

"Nothing. It’s all good." Yuri stretched out her limbs, turning to look at Tuss, "Bored? How about I come alone next time? I wouldn’t mind exploring the Military Headquarters."

Tuss shook his head, "I’m revising, not bored. You can go first next time." But he would still accompany her.

Officer Lyao looked frustrated.

"Sir, don’t forget to pay," Yuri reminded him.

"I won’t forget that. However, this time, the fee might not be as high as before," Officer Lyao explained, under Yuri’s questioning gaze, "These folks are semi-retired or retired. They don’t have as much money as the previous batch."

Yuri understood, "As long as it’s not less than the market price."

Officer Lyao looked distressed, "For your level, there’s no market price reference."

Yuri: ".....You decide then."

Officer Lyao nodded, "Will you also accept goods?"

"Of course," Yuri answered instantly, she would always need more supplies for practice.

"Okay." That wasn’t a problem for him.

"Anything else?" Yuri saw him hesitate and asked.

"Your existence is now known to all officials in the Alliance. Countless people have come to me, wanting you to sort their Sea of Consciousness," Officer Lyao said carefully, "The Alliance has over ten billion people, and alphas alone number over two billion. The base is too large. The requests will keep coming—"

Yuri frowned, "Can’t other high-level betas solve the Sea of Consciousness disturbances for these lower-level alphas?"

"They can," Officer Lyao answered succinctly, "But they’re too busy. Sorting one or two a day is their limit. Besides, these low-level alphas can’t reach them."

"Because they’re too noble or because they charge too much?" Tuss scoffed, "You’re just dumping the work that other betas don’t want to do onto Yuri?"

Officer Lyao’s face flushed slightly as he said, "It’s not that they’re noble, it’s that they consider themselves to be. They disdain and are unwilling to guide the Sea of Consciousness for the lower-ranked alphas. But ironically, the Alliance can’t fault them. They’ve used starstone, signed an agreement to work for the Alliance for ten years without compensation, and yet they’re too busy helping officers to have time for those beneath them."

"Yuri, thirty percent of the Alliance’s alphas die on the battlefield, five percent from illness, and the remaining sixty-five percent die from the collapse of their Sea of Consciousness."

"When the Sea of Consciousness collapses, they either die on the spot, become idiots, lunatics, and die without dignity a year or two later."

"Before they die, every alpha must endure a pain akin to a heavy hammer striking their brain."

Officer Lyao finished, staring straight at Yuri, "They need you."

"You’re guilt-tripping her." Tuss snapped, "Yuri’s just one person."

"I AM guilt-tripping her. Out of the over ten billion people in the Alliance, she’s the only one I can pressure." Officer Lyao continued staring at Yuri.

Yuri replied indifferently, "And all these are for a fee?"

"Of course." Officer Lyao was unsure of her stance.

"Then bring them all. You arrange it." Yuri said nonchalantly.

"Yuri, there are so many people—" Tuss disagreed.

"Exactly, so many people mean endless business for me. It’s exclusive to the Alliance, a monopolistic business. Tsk, tsk, I might become the wealthiest person in the Alliance, no, in the galaxy. As for Officer Lyao, think of him as a pimp helping me find clients." Yuri winked at Tuss, "You know, it’s beneficial to me."

She could both make money and enhance her psychic power.

Hearing this, Officer Lyao let out a sigh of relief and said in a deep voice, "The term pimp isn’t very nice."

Tuss also said, "Indeed, it’s not a nice term." If he’s a pimp, what are you?

Yuri’s face stiffened as she admit, "Sorry. Slip of the tongue."
