Chapter 118: [Bonus Chapter]The Human Trafficker
As everyone else busied themselves with the array of seafood from the massive nets, Tuss somehow managed to haul over two lounge chairs. He claimed one for himself and offered the other to Yuri. They reclined in their seats, sipping on fruit juice while enjoying the sunset over the ocean.
"They sure know how to have a good time."
"If you hauled up as much fish and shrimp as they did, you could relax too."
"Nah, I know my limits. But, wow, the catch they’ve brought up is incredible. You can’t find quality like this at any market."
"All the best stuff goes to the wealthy and the powerful. We wouldn’t have gotten a taste of these delicacies if it weren’t for Yuri and Tuss."
"..."
Despite their day in the sea, only when they relaxed did they truly feel tired. After waking up early and a day of exertion, Yuri stifled two yawns before saying, "I’m gonna nap. Wake me up when the food’s ready."
Tuss nodded, pulled out a can of bug repellent from the dimensional button and sprayed it around her and their surroundings.
After covering her with a light blanket, Tuss returned to his own chair.
"Did you guys go to the Sapphire Sea Star?" Officer Lyao messaged.
Tuss: "Yeah."
Officer Lyao sent over a contact number and said, "Call him if you need anything."
Tuss: "Got it."
Officer Lyao stared at the succinct replies, frowning. This kid really doesn’t get it.
Officer Lyao: Where’s Yuri?
Tuss snapped a picture and sent it to him. In the picture, a reclined figure was seen in one of the lounge chairs.
Officer Lyao instantly lost his interest in the conversation and shut off his opticomputer.
Yuri slept for over an hour, awoken by the aroma of cooked food.
As soon as she stirred, her classmates brought over the grilled goods, nervously asking, "It’s okay for you to eat, right?"
"Does Yuri have a taste setting?"
"What happens to the food once she eats it?"
The questions became bolder, the hesitations less.
Yuri: "..." A lie told a hundred times becomes the truth.
Tuss, with a stern look, said, "Leave the food here. You guys can go now."
The culinary skills of thier classmates were indeed exceptional. In Yuri’s two lifetimes, this was the best seafood Yuri had ever tasted.
"Could it be because we caught it ourselves?" Tuss ventured, refusing to admit someone else’s culinary prowess.
Yuri nodded in agreement, "That could be it." What a jealous and sensitive guy!
After eating her fill, Yuri had to take a walk to help digest the food.
"Don’t go too far. I’m setting up the tent here and can’t accompany you," Tuss said.
"I thought we were sleeping in the lev," Yuri said in surprise. She didn’t think a tent would be more comfortable than the vehicle. The lev had a bed, no mosquitoes, and an air exchange system that ensured good air quality.
Tuss shook his head, "This is our first time camping in a tent."
He wanted to give it a try.
Upon hearing this, Yuri gave up on her walk and squatted down to help him with the setup.
"Don’t worry, I’ll make the tent really comfortable," Tuss assured.
Yuri remained skeptical, doubting how comfortable a tent could be.
However, half an hour later, as she stared at the luxurious tent before her, she was dumbfounded. "Are you sure this isn’t a room?"
"No, it’s a tent. Come, check it out." Tuss led her by the hand, bending down to enter the tent.
The interior was even more spacious than it seemed from outside, and there was plenty of room to stand up straight. But the large bed in the center caught Yuri off guard. "Did you bring our bed from home?"
"No, this is a different one," Tuss replied, beginning to undress.
Yuri covered her eyes, "What are you doing?"
"Going to sleep," Tuss said nonchalantly. "Are you planning to sleep in your clothes?"
At this moment, Yuri felt like a meal before a starving wolf. She gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, that’s exactly what I’m planning."
"No, sleeping in clothes is uncomfortable. Are you just too lazy to undress? That’s okay, I can help." Tuss knocked Yuri down, not touching her clothes but accurately capturing her lips instead.
Their flirtatious voices echoed from the tent, prompting their classmates to silently move their tents further away.
"Compared to Tuss’s tent, ours looks like a refugee camp."
"Tuss used to be so icy, always wearing the same expression. I didn’t expect him to change so much after falling in love. I can feel his heat radiating even as an onlooker, it’s enough to melt someone."
"Does it matter that Yuri is an android?"
"...Shut up."
The sea breeze whistled.
Inside the tent, Tuss held Yuri tightly, their breaths intertwining in intimate harmony.
"Help–"
In the dark, Yuri’s eyes snapped open as her psychic power surged like a tidal wave.
The next second, she sat up abruptly, "Something’s happening."
Tuss blinked, instantly alert, "I’ll go check it out, wait here for me."
Yuri shook her head, "Let’s go together."
Just as Tuss and Yuri stepped out of the tent, a flying vehicle soared into the sky.
"Should we pursue?" Yuri asked.
"I’ll go after it, you check out what happened," Tuss said.
"Okay."
The noise of the flying vehicle, along with Yuri and Tuss’s conversation, woke up Ender and the others.
"What’s going on?" Ender asked.
"Someone asked for help," Yuri responded. A faint smell of blood hung in the air. She followed the scent to several tents slashed open by a sharp weapon and the lifeless bodies inside.
"What happened?"
"Check the other tents."
"There’s someone alive in here."
Hearing this, Yuri rushed over, but as she arrived, the person took his last breath.
"I heard him say ’beta’," Ender’s face paled.
"Are they pirates or human traffickers?"
The students were terrified and couldn’t help but feel relieved. Thankfully, none of them were beta among their group of more than thirty.
Yuri brought out her mecha and said, "I’ll go after them, you guys call the police."
Yuri moved so fast that Ender couldn’t even try to stop her. First, he called the police, then he sent a communication request to Officer Lyao.
Officer Lyao, woken up in the middle of the night, didn’t look annoyed. Instead, he was visibly anxious. "What happened?"
"There were human traffickers on the beach, killing people and forcibly taking betas. Tuss and Yuri have gone after them in their mechas," Ender quickly explained.
"I’ll immediately send help. Keep the communication lines open," Officer Lyao ended the call.
"Does Officer Lyao know where we are?" someone wondered.
"From what he said, it seems like he does," another person replied.
"It looks like Officer Lyao really values Tuss," a classmate mused.
Ender lowered his gaze. There’s no doubt that Officer Lyao hold Tuss in high regard, but the one he values more, perhaps, is Yuri.
