Chapter 113: [Bonus Chapter]Yuri Is an Android?
Yuri didn’t know what Officer Lyao planned to do about the situation. After dialing him, she obediently stayed put.
Her face was expressionless, her eyes focused on the opticomputer in her hand, watching the seconds tick by.
When Tuss arrived, he found her standing alone, a cold, fragile figure.
"Don’t worry." Tuss said, draping his jacket over her. "I’ll protect you."
Yuri looked back at him, her clear, innocent eyes blinked as she said, "If my secrets get exposed, my life would still be the same as now, wouldn’t it?"
Tuss frowned and said gently, not wanting to lie, "I’m afraid it wouldn’t."
"Right, it wouldn’t be the same," Daleks, who had just arrived, chimed in. "The alphas will probably treat you like a delicate treasure. You might become the real jewel of the Alliance."
Yuri’s lips twitched as she said, "But that doesn’t sound like a good thing to me."
"Officer Lyao is already on the move, let’s just wait here. Maybe things won’t turn out as bad," Tuss comforted her.
That afternoon, a physical training class was in session for all the students of the mecha manufacturing department. The department consisted of twelve classes, each with about forty students, less than twenty of which were girls. That made roughly two hundred girls across all twelve classes.
When the campus security guards stormed in and called out all the girls in class, the boys and teachers present were taken aback.
"What’s going on? Why are you taking our girls?" a teacher asked.
"We need them to help with some investigations. Don’t worry, they will be safe," a guard replied.
The girls looked at each other, confused.
"Is it a confidential matter?" the teacher asked again.
"No, if you are worried, we can ask them here," the guard answered, turning to the girls with a sharp look. "Who took the WRONG jacket in the locker room half an hour ago?"
The guard emphasized the word "wrong".
The girls checked their clothes, shook their heads and said, "No, we didn’t."
"I’ll give you another chance. Right now, it’s a mistake. In two minutes, it will be theft. Now, I’ll ask again, who took the wrong jacket in the locker room?" The guard’s gaze became stern. "Or, did any of you see someone take the wrong jacket?"
Is it just about a jacket? Is it worth all this fuss? The teachers and students were confused, "May we ask whose jacket is missing?"
"It’s Yuri’s jacket," the guard admitted, seeing there was no point in hiding it. They themselves didn’t understand why this was being taken so seriously.
After all, it was just a jacket.
But they had been mobilized in full force for this. They’d never experienced anything like it.
Just when the guards thought they wouldn’t get any answers and were about to take all the girls away, one girl spoke up, "I saw Anru Lee from class two took Yuri’s jacket."
Right after the girl stopped talking, a guard quickly talked into his little ear device, "Bring Anru Lee from class two."
The guards were gone as fast as a gust of wind.
"Why would Anru have Yuri’s coat?"
"Do the guards always rush like that? The coat’s only been gone for like 30 minutes."
"Yuri must be a big deal."
Whispers buzzed around the room.
The teacher on the stage guessed it wasn’t just about a lost coat.
When they found Anru, Yuri’s coat was still at her desk.
The guards didn’t let her explain. They just took her.
"Where are you taking her?" the teacher asked, stepping in front of the guards. He thought Anru was a good kid, and he couldn’t believe she’d steal. "Maybe she took it by accident?"
"She’s got her own coat on. You really think she took the wrong one?" the guard smirked.
The teacher didn’t know what to say. He looked at Anru and said, "Tell the truth, they won’t hurt you. If there’s something you need to say, tell me and the guards."
Anru was scared and shaky, close to crying. "I only borrowed her coat. I was gonna give it back," she cried.
"You’re lying. Taking without asking is stealing. Yuri’s coat had four dimensional buttons in it, worth billions of space bucks. That’s enough to put you in jail for over ten years. It’s better if you tell the truth, or no one can help you," the guard answered, serious.
Anru turned white with fear. "No, no, I didn’t steal. I only took her coat, I didn’t touch anything inside. It... it was Saina. She told me to get Yuri’s coat so I could see her artificial arm, to check if Yuri was really an android."
Everyone was shocked. So, all of this is just to peek at Yuri’s injury.
All eyes landed on Anru. "So, what did you see?"
"I just got the coat and ran back. I was gonna give it back to Yuri after class. I really didn’t touch anything in her pockets. You can look for fingerprints," Anru said, really scared. If she knew taking a coat would cause such a big problem, she never would’ve done it.
"We’ll look for fingerprints, but for now, you’re coming with us," the guard said. They took Anru and Yuri’s coat.
This time, the teacher didn’t stop them.
After hearing from Anru why she took her coat, Yuri was quiet for a while. Finally, she asked, "Why do you think I’m an android?"
"What about you doesn’t seem like one?" Anru shot back.
Yuri didn’t say anything.
Because Yuri didn’t push it, Anru and Saina just got scolded.
The rumor that Yuri was an android once again became a hot topic at Military Academy No. 1.
"Tuss, is Yuri... is she a human?" a student from the mecha combat department asked boldly.
Tuss’s face instantly darkened, "What do you think?"
"I think you probably don’t know either." Admittedly, this was a very audacious student.
"It’s possible. With such advanced technology these days, it’s entirely plausible. But I believe that you, Tuss, do know the truth. She is an android specially created for you by the Alliance for protection, right?" The student winked at Tuss, looking extremely self-satisfied, thinking he had uncovered the truth.
Tuss’s face darkened even more. He didn’t give the student so much as a glance before turning and walking away.
Daleks, Ender, and Kilana rolled their eyes and followed him.
"Tuz, why don’t you explain?" Daleks asked, puzzled.
"Officer Lyao said to let things take their course," Tuss replied. What Officer Lyao had actually said was that if Yuri was indeed a robot, she and Tuss would be safer staying on Planet Alpha.
Daleks was completely confused.
Ender, on the other hand, seemed to understand. "So, none of us are going to explain?"
Tuss gave a grunt of agreement.
"Wouldn’t Yuri be upset?" Daleks asked, concerned. "Being mistaken for a robot wouldn’t be fun for anyone, right?"
"She doesn’t care," Tuss said with a frown. "Actually, she seems to find it rather amusing."
