Chapter 109: [Bonus Chapter] Explosion
When the bell signaled the end of the school day, Yuri and Tuss strolled to the cafeteria, as usual, paying no mind to the curious eyes around them.
Their demeanor was often cool and detached, but when they faced each other, their eyes softened, filled with warmth and intimacy.
After dinner, Yuri and Tuss leisurely made their way to the mecha training room. They thought most people wouldn’t be there since many didn’t sleep well last night. But to their surprise, more faces appeared today, including over twenty new ones.
As soon as Yuri and Tuss appeared, everyone gathered around them.
Just like the day before, the crowd threw questions, and Tuss answered, demonstrating.
After all the questions were answered, Yuri and Tuss each picked a mecha to spar with.
In the beginning, both were holding back, the exchanges gentle.
Gradually, as Yuri became more familiar with her mecha, she quipped, "Do we have to pay if something breaks?"
"We’ll cover half the repair costs; the school covers the other half," Tuss replied. "Don’t worry, the school has its own mecha mechanics, and the costs aren’t high. Feel free to go all out."
With no restraint, Yuri nearly destroyed the whole training room, and there were other students who were accidentally hit. They complained to Tuss, "You should really get her under control."
Unfazed, Tuss retorted, "You’re welcome to move next door. I’ll cover the cost of the training room."
But they didn’t want to leave; they wanted to watch.
The students proposed, "How about this? We all team up against you two."
Tuss passed the decision to Yuri.
Nonchalant, Yuri said, "Sure."
"Yuri, I’m sorry," Delaks said, then charged at Yuri, rubbing his hands in anticipation.
Daleks’ moves were big and open, just like his personality.
Yuri didn’t dare to underestimate him. Her skill level with the manual mecha wasn’t as advanced as Daleks’, let alone any of the other students in the room.
Her advantage lay in her speed, her power, her extensive combat experience, and her Enova, which let her quickly spot the weaknesses in the opponent’s mecha.
That night, Yuri wrecked five mechas and sparred with over a hundred students from the mecha combat department. She won some and lost some.
"Is it just me or did she go easy on us?"
"What nonsense are you talking? Do you think you’re tougher than a level-eight insectoid?"
"Maybe she didn’t want to crush our confidence."
"She’s a kindhearted girl. Tuss, on the other hand, hasn’t let anyone last half a minute against him tonight."
"...."
Hearing these comments, Yuri rubbed her nose, feeling a little guilty. No, she hadn’t held back. That was the extent of her manual skills.
"Will you come back tomorrow?" Tuss asked.
"Let’s book a training room and use our own mechas," one suggested. The school’s mechas were basic models—not durable enough to truly let loose.
"Just the two of us," Tuss stated seriously.
Yuri hesitated before asking, "What if Daleks and the others ask?"
"Tell them we’re going on a date," Tuss said calmly, though he was secretly thinking if anyone dared to interrupt, he would knock them into next week.
To get back to Yuri’s dormitory from the training room, they had to pass by the lawn in front of the school hospital.
Yuri sensed over a dozen hidden presences around the school hospital. She glanced at Tuss and asked in a low voice, "Are they from the Alliance?"
Tuss furrowed his brows, unable to confirm. "May be they’re sent by the Alliance to protect us," was all he said. The last major purge among the Alliance’s offices had cleared out a lot of undesirables, so theoretically, no one against Yuri and Tuss should be able to reach inside Military Academy No. 1 now.
Holding Yuri’s hand, Tuss just wanted to get away from this place as quickly as possible.
Whether those people were from the Alliance or not, he didn’t want Yuri involved.
As for Hoarah, he wished he’d never appear before Yuri again.
Yuri stumbled a bit when Tuss pulled her along. "Are you in a hurry?" she asked.
"Not exactly. I just have a bad feeling about this place," Tuss replied, not slowing his pace.
Yuri felt as confused as anxious, saying, "If you don’t like it here, we can take a detour next—"
Suddenly, the lights in the hospital across the street went out, plunging it into darkness.
"It indeed seems ominous," Yuri mumbled.
Tuss’s face grew cold. He sent a message to his guards to come for help. After sending the message, he continued to pull Yuri forward.
"There are students from Military Academy No. 1 and teachers inside, along with Hoarah," Yuri remarked, her lips twitching.
Tuss paused, gritting his teeth. "I’ll go in, you wait here. Don’t move."
Yuri obediently nodded. "Okay."
As soon as Yuri finished speaking, Tuss was at the hospital entrance within a second.
"His speed has increased," Yuri commented, a hint of envy in her eyes.
Two minutes later, a mix of beta particles and pheromones wafted out from the school hospital. Yuri backed up a few steps, covering her nose.
Just then, the guards arrived, along with a group of people in military uniforms.
"Seems like a fight has already started."
"Surround the entire hospital. Don’t even let a fly get out."
"Yes, sir."
Yuri watched quietly from the side, trying to blend in, but someone noticed her.
"Officer Yuri Hiro," a sergeant saluted her.
Yuri, having exterminated level-eight insectoids, had been promoted from a level seven sergeant to a level six officer. Ironically, the person in front of her was a level seven sergeant.
She returned his salute and said, "Don’t mind me, carry on with your duties."
"Yes, ma’am," the young sergeant replied, before charging into the hospital with his team.
Yuri yawned, leaning back on a bench. She had planned to go to bed early tonight, but it seemed like that wouldn’t be happening.
The next second, a thunderous explosion startled her, making her jump up from the bench. The hospital was engulfed in flames, reflecting in her clear eyes. Her pupils contracted sharply.
Explosions chained one after another, and Yuri watched, wide-eyed, as the building in front of her turned to rubble.
She stood there, dazed. For a moment, her mind went completely blank. Yuri didn’t know how much time had passed. It felt like a century, and yet, only two or three seconds.
When she came to, she was standing amidst the ruins.
"Tuss—"
Yuri shouted, her peak level-five psychic power seeping into the ground to search for survivors buried beneath.
"There’s someone here."
Yuri quickly located a target, moving chunks of walls, rocks, and metal plates barehanded... She carelessly tossed these items behind her.
In her sole focus to find survivors, she didn’t realize she was throwing these items a dozen meters away.
Objects weighing hundreds, even thousands of pounds, being casually tossed over a dozen meters away. Such a feat would be shocking anywhere in the universe.
The onlookers, as well as the guards and students who arrived at the scene, were stunned speechless.
"Don’t just stand there, help save people!" Ender suddenly shouted.
They had been on their way back to the dormitory when they heard the explosion and quickly rushed over.
"Yuri, where’s Tuz?" Daleks asked with a trembling voice. He knew he shouldn’t hold out hope, but he couldn’t help but wish for the best.
"I don’t know." Yuri shook her head, her mind racing. She had a nagging feeling that she was forgetting something.
The next second, she slapped her own forehead. "The Blue Keystone. Tuss has the Blue Keystone in his legs.
