Chapter 199: Chapter 196: Decatip Flower

"Mu Ying, did it work?"

Seeing her leisurely fiddling with the seeds, Lillian grew anxious.

Windsor was a bit more patient, but her eyes were also filled with expectation.

They had all experienced separation, so they knew the value of the flower. Mu Ying had already promised that the most abundant cluster, the eleven-petal flower, would be shared among them.

A witch is destined to face the future alone, but no one could refuse a Dingling Flower to chat with friends when loneliness becomes overwhelming.

Although birds could be sent to deliver messages, the method was exceedingly slow and the messages could be lost, which was nowhere near as convenient as the real-time communication of the Dingling Flower.

The little witches didn’t feel strongly about it yet, not understanding what future separations meant. They might indeed never meet again in this life. Only Tana, who was overly attached to Mu Ying, was extremely excited. The other two simply found it novel.

However, they all formed a circle, squatting around Mu Ying to witness the "opening of the box" moment.

Mu Ying took a small wooden shovel and gently dug the earth, and as the first glass bottle revealed itself, the witches all held their breath.

She picked up the glass bottle, inside which the Magic Potion had turned as transparent as clear water. The Dingling Flower inside looked fresh, just as it did when freshly picked, and made a tinkling sound when the bottle was shaken.

Mu Ying curved her lips upward, "It worked!"

This was a pair of twin flowers, an auspicious beginning.

She continued to dig.

There were successes and failures, but successes were in the majority and failures were few. Fortunately, the eleven-petal flower was also a success.

"It seems my Blessing Magic worked quite well," Mu Ying touched her chin. Whether the step of burying the bottles was successful or not was entirely due to luck. From the day she buried them, she blessed them every day. Compared to her predecessors, who only had one or two out of a bunch of bottles to succeed, and some poor souls who completely failed, she was indeed very fortunate.

The Dingling Flowers, soaked in the Magic Potion, looked exactly as they did when put in, but in reality, they had become something similar to the Eternal Flowers in reality. Their state was preserved and they were not easily damaged; even pulling them with hands, they were quite sturdy.

Upon closer inspection, the number of flower buds that appeared matched the number of petals, and they each had distinct colors.

The slightly larger anther represents oneself, while the others represent the other twin flowers.

By using Magic Power to touch the corresponding flower base, one could dial the number.

The witches present had heard Mu Ying explain these things more than once.

A Dingling Flower only responds to the Magic Power of one person. Mu Ying sorted the other Dingling Flowers into the prepared boxes, leaving only that eleven-petal flower.

Then she gave one to each of them.

"Alright, let’s give it a try now! Spread out a bit," Mu Ying said, prompting them to disperse.

Seeing Lillian summon a flying broom and aiming to fly far away, she quickly added, "Not too far!"

Lillian then stopped her eager steps.

"Touch the flower buds one by one, in the order, we’re standing," Mu Ying said loudly.

"Ting-a-ling," Lillian was the first to act, touching Tina’s.

Tina poked the quivering flower bud with the tip of her wand and whispered, "Senior Sister?"

"I heard you, I heard you!" Lillian said excitedly.

Then Tina used Magic Power to touch the flower bud representing Tana, and Tana’s flower too responded with a sound.

After taking turns with no issues, everyone started to play around with the equivalent of making phone calls.

Mu Ying stopped the jovial Lillian and called Windsor over, "Let’s send one to each of our senior schoolmates!"

"Sure thing!" Lillian immediately summoned her messenger.

Windsor contributed four inconspicuous little brocade pouches.

Mu Ying placed the Dingling Flowers inside them, with a note explaining how to use them, and the part meant for Senior Rosie even included a small packet of seeds.

The messengers departed with their hopes.

"Hehe, I can talk to the senior schoolmates again! You two had better tone it down from now on, or I’ll tattle on you!" Lillian said, somewhat guiltily.

"Why not take the chance to tease them again before the seniors receive the letters?" Mu Ying suggested maliciously.

"I’m not talking to you guys anymore, I’m off to the back mountain!" Lillian mounted her broom and whooshed away.

"Haha," Mu Ying laughed heartily.

Windsor asked her, "What do you plan to do with this last one?"

"Give it to our principal, of course. That way, we can bother her even after graduation," Mu Ying said.

...

The principal’s office.

"Knock knock knock!"

Melanie, who had her legs propped up on the desk, let them down, "Come in."

Mu Ying slid a small box across the desk to the principal.

Melanie raised an eyebrow, "Dingling Flower?"

Mu Ying nodded, "This one’s for you. It’s one of the eleven-petal varieties. Each of us, the senior and junior schoolmates, has one. So after we graduate, we won’t have to worry about not being able to consult you for advice!"

"How many sets have you made?" Melanie dodged the question, not wanting to be bothered by these kids even after they graduated, especially this one who was so keen on money. Dingling Flowers were extremely rare; this time it seemed she might have to pay dearly.

"One set of eight-petal, one of seven-petal, two sets of six-petal, four sets of five-petal, six sets each of four-petal and three-petal, and eleven sets of double petal. Which type would you like?" Mu Ying blinked, "The principal is so wealthy, you wouldn’t shortchange me, right?"

This little witch in front of her was indeed too exceptional, exceptionally so to the point of making Melanie jealous. Before even graduating, these Dingling Flowers could make her rich, "Seems like your blessing magic is quite accomplished."

Melanie really wanted to say, I’d love to shortchange you, but in the end, whatever little mentor-student affection remained made her restrain herself.

"The market price for the double petal is two hundred Gold Coins, and it’s one of those valuable but not easy to find items. The three-petal is four hundred, the four-petal is eight hundred, and so on. I want a set of the five-petal, which is worth 1600 Gold Coins on the market. However, I don’t have that many Gold Coins, so how about I exchange a finely furnished Space Travel Box with you?"

Melanie said painfully, she hadn’t used that box much since she bought it!

Mu Ying caught her breath and nodded repeatedly, "Is the Dingling Flower really that valuable?" A Space Travel Box, one of the top luxury items for witches, costs at least 1500 Gold Coins, and even more for one that’s been finely furnished.

"Who doesn’t have a few witch friends they keep in regular contact with? With the Dingling Flower, even asking for help would be timely. It’s very scarce. Even the green witch might not be able to grow it. Less than twenty percent of those that are planted actually bloom due to their long growing cycle. So, with this group of people, you’ll not worry about money. On the other hand, with me, it’s the opposite. Only one or two percent of my investments fail. In the future, don’t call me wealthy, I’m not worthy!" Melanie waved her hand dismissively and handed over a small box, "You can go now. I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop myself from robbing my own student."

"Hehe, I’ll bring you that flower later," Mu Ying took the box and quickly made her escape, knowing when to quit.

The office door snapped shut.

Melanie covered her face, "No, I can’t be the only one taking a hit. There must be a number of people in the association who want it too. If we’re going to be poor, we’ll be poor together!"

A stack of parchment papers flew towards her, the Quill dipped in ink and landed in her hands, she had to tell her friends in the association about this!
