Part 4

Going back to when Yuuya was delivering cakes.

The president of Star Productions was meeting with a woman.

“It’s so nice to see you, Olivia-san.”

The person the president was meeting was none other than the world-famous actress Olivia.

“No one would ever guess that you’re in Japan, would they?”

“Well, I’m here in private.”

“But you’re actually here for work, aren’t you?”

“…Well, yes. As you know.”

When Olivia said that, the president looked somewhat stunned.

“No one could have imagined that Olivia, of all people, would come to Japan… as a special lecturer for a newly established entertainment department.”

“Is that so? I’ve always wanted to teach acting, so this is perfect for me.”

“But you could have gotten any job or position you wanted… Is it because of Yuuya-kun?”

“I don’t know.”

Olivia replied cheerfully without batting an eyelid.

“…Well, whatever the reason, we’re grateful. After all, with a world-famous actress teaching, the number of applicants will increase in no time… We look forward to working with you.”

“I’ll do my best to help.”

Just then, Olivia smiled.

“I’m here too!”

“Eh!?”

Suddenly, a man entered the room.

The president and Olivia were taken aback by the intrusion, but their eyes widened when they saw who it was.

“Ah, you’re… Director Rick!”

Yes, the man who had entered the room was Rick, the world-renowned film director who had previously cast Yuuya in one of his films.

While the two were surprised by the unexpected visitor, Kurosawa appeared from behind Rick, looking apologetic.

“I’m sorry. He forced his way in.”

“Well, it’s true that it was rude of him to barge in like that, but more importantly, why are you here?”

The president was surprised to see someone who wasn’t supposed to be there, but Rick replied casually.

“Of course I’m here to participate as a lecturer!”

“What!?”

“I-Is that right?”

Olivia also seemed completely unaware of this, her eyes widening.

“We haven’t heard anything about that from the school.”

“Well… it was just decided a moment ago.”

“A moment ago?”

The president and the others were stunned by these unexpected words.

However, Rick did not pay attention to them and continued speaking.

“Apparently, when I heard that the school that Yuuya-kun attends is establishing an entertainment department, I couldn’t sit still!”

“Y-You mean you’re targeting Yuuya-kun?”

“Of course! With him, my movie will be even more interesting. That’s why I decided to get involved in this project and build a connection with him.”

“I-I see…”

The president was overwhelmed by his momentum.

“Is that really okay? I think it would be difficult to invite someone of your stature to be a lecturer… Not to mention, I hear you’ve turned down offers from famous acting schools.”

As Olivia said, countless schools wanted to invite the world-famous Rick to be a lecturer.

However, he had turned them all down.

“Of course, other schools have approached me, but they all seem boring. But this is different! With Yuuya-kun here, there’s no problem!”

“I-I see…”

“But is the fee okay? That’s something the chairman, Tsukasa-san, handles…”

“Don’t worry about that! If I can build a connection with Yuuya-kun, I’ll accept any special price.”

“I-I see.”

As the president nodded at Rick’s words, he smiled.

“All right, I’ll go meet the chairman now. See you next year!”

With that, he left confidently, leaving the president and the others behind.

“I-I don’t know what to say. This is getting out of hand.”

“Y-You’re right.”

──And so, without Yuuya’s knowledge, things were once again set in motion.

***

After helping Akira, I safely returned to Kaori’s house.

“I’m back!”

When I entered the room with the cake, I was surprised by what I saw.

Everyone had finished preparing while I was out getting the cake, and the table and chairs had been set up.

But what surprised me even more was that everyone was dressed in cosplay costumes.

Come to think of it, Lexia-san had said that Kaori and the others were preparing cosplay outfits and that we should get some, too. And so, I bought a costume.

That’s why everyone is in cosplay. But I don’t see Rin. Is she still changing?

As I remembered our previous shopping trip, Ryo, dressed as a flimsy Christmas tree, called out to me.

“Hey! Yuuya, you’re back!”

“Y-Yeah, I’m back… Is that a Christmas tree costume?”

“Yeah! Isn’t it cool?”

Well, if you ask me, it’s definitely cool. But was it okay to wear?

As I was thinking that, Shingo-kun approached me.

“I-It was a little far, wasn’t it? Are you tired?”

“No, I’m fine. By the way… Shingo-kun, you’re a reindeer, aren’t you?”

“Y-Yeah, I was forced to buy it when we went shopping for party decorations the other day.”

“I-I see…”

“Never mind that! Yuuya! Let’s dress up, too! I heard that Kaori asked Lexia-san and the others about it, and that you all have prepared costumes.”

“Well, sort of.”

I also bought a cosplay costume during that shopping trip. I ended up having to buy one, so I have one.

“I see, I see! We also prepared something. Which one should you wear? Well, Rin chose it.”

“Rin… By the way, what costume did she choose for me?”

“A sled.”

“A sled?”

I was stunned by her unexpected choice.

I could understand reindeer, but a Christmas tree and a sleigh? It’s like a lineup for a kindergarten play.

First of all, why did she leave Santa Claus out of the options? It’s too mysterious.

“So, what are you going to do?”

“…I’ll wear the one I bought.”

“By the way, what kind of costume is it?”

“Santa Claus.”

“That’s cheating!”

“I…I want that one, too.”

If you’re dressing up for Christmas, it’s normal to be Santa Claus, right?

While shopping with Lexia-san and the others, I ended up buying a high-quality Santa Claus costume. I really just wanted a Santa hat, though.

I couldn’t afford such a purchase before because I had no money, but thanks to the money-changing ability of the “Gate to Another World,” I can now buy all sorts of things like this.

As I was thinking about that, Kaede and Kaori approached me.

“Ah, Yuuya-kun, welcome back!”

“Welcome back, Yuuya-san!”

“I’m back. You two… How should I put this…”

I say that much, then turn my face away.

They’re both wearing miniskirt Santa outfits, and I don’t know where to look.

Seeing my reaction, they both look uneasy.

“Um, is it weird?”

“Eh, ah, no, no! I think it suits you! It’s just… I don’t know where to look!”

I said this in a panic, and the two of them blushed.

Ugh… I was a little too honest.

“I-I’ll just put the cake here for now.”

Unable to bear the awkwardness, I put the cake down and left the room. I found Yukine sitting quietly on a chair.

“…Welcome back.”

“Ah, I’m back. Yukine, you’re a snowman, aren’t you?”

“…Yeah, I was torn between this and a sled.”

“A sled!?”

You hesitated between a sled and a snowman?

I’m surprised by Yukine’s unique sensibility. But, well, she’s in the Occult Research Club and collects unusual things, so I guess it makes sense.

“…But everyone stopped me, so I became a snowman.”

“…I think that was the right choice.”

I’m not entirely uninterested in what a sled costume would look like, but I’m not going to make one myself.

Still, if the choice is between a sled and a snowman, the snowman is definitely the better option.

Moreover, Yukine’s snowman cosplay was cute, complete with a fluffy collar and a white poncho.

Based on the other cosplays, I thought the snowman costume would look weird, but I was surprised at how well-made it was.

I thought it would be more of a snowman-style costume, but it’s actually a well-made outfit with voluminous tops and bottoms.

Was Yukine’s cosplay also prepared by Ryo and the others? That means they must have bought it at the same place.

But one is comical, and the other is cute. It’s a mystery.

“Oh, you guys… you did it!”

As I thought about the differences in the costumes, Rin, who hadn’t been there, returned.

When I looked over at her, she was dressed in a rather revealing Santa costume, just like Kaede and Kaori!

Rin asked Kaede with a wry smile.

“When did you guys get my costume ready?”

“Of course when we bought our costumes!”

“That’s right. You can’t just make us do cosplay and get away with it, can you?”

“Ugh…!”

Rin’s face shows her disappointment at Ryo’s words.

Then she noticed that I came back and blushed.

“Eh, Yuuya! You came back!”

“Y-Yeah, just a moment ago…”

“I-I see. Well, this cute outfit wouldn’t look good on a big girl like me, would it?”

“No, that’s not true, but—”

I didn’t say it out loud because I was still feeling guilty about earlier, but I still didn’t know where to look.

Rin had long, slender arms and legs, which gave her a different kind of charm than Kaede and the others had.

Because her arms and legs were exposed, she was even harder to look at than Kaede and the others.

However, even though I didn’t say anything, Rin seemed to understand what I was thinking, and her face turned bright red. Oh no, I’m screwed. What’s the right thing to say in a situation like this?

As I found myself staring off into the distance, Lexia-san and the others approached us.

“Yes, yes! Everyone looks so beautiful!”

“Now that I think about it, maybe I should have bought costumes, too.”

“Hungry. I want cake.”

Lexia-san and the others’ costumes were quite elaborate, including the fabric, and they had bought them at a cosplay shop. Kaori and the others’ costumes felt a bit cheaply made.

Lexia-san wore a long, skirt-style Santa costume with a hooded poncho adorned with white pom-poms that gave her a Red Riding Hood-like appearance.

On the other hand, Luna looked very cool in a male Santa costume that fit her slender figure well.

Finally, Yuti’s costume was more reminiscent of winter and Christmas in general than of snow. She wore a white dress with a design reminiscent of red, blue, and yellow lights.

Then, upon hearing Luna’s words, Lexia-san exclaimed,

“What!? What are you talking about? Kaori’s costumes are cuter! I wanted to wear that one!”

“What!?”

“No, no, Lexia-san! Ours are made of thin, cheap fabric. Yours are much better!”

“The fabric doesn’t matter. What matters is if they’re cute!”

“I don’t think that’s true!”

Kaede retorted to Lexia-san, who had spoken so decisively.

As I watched them, I noticed Merl resting next to Yukine.

“Oh, Merl… Merl is also in cosplay.”

Merl was also dressed as Santa Claus, but upon closer inspection, her outfit was well-balanced and fell somewhere between Lexia-san’s and Kaori’s Santa outfits.

“Yes, I decided to change too, since everyone else is.”

“Huh… It’s different from everyone else’s. Did you buy it somewhere?”

“No, I used my device…”

As expected of an alien. Amazing.

Merl can change her clothes however she wants with the device attached to her arm.

I don’t know how she does it, but the device was invisible.

In any case, everyone except me was dressed in cosplay.

Then, Lexia-san called out to me.

“Come on, only Yuuya-sama is left!”

“I-I understand.”

With everyone else already changed, I couldn’t refuse.

“Is it okay if I don’t wear the sled?”

“It’s fine!”

“…Sled…”

“Yukine? Don’t look so disappointed. I’m not wearing the sled!”

If I had lingered any longer, I might have been forced to wear the sled costume. So, I quickly left the room to change into the outfit I had bought.
