Chapter 93: Chapter 93 Principal home

Until...

"Hey..." Alina’s voice broke gently through the fog, her fingers brushing Gabriel’s arm like a leaf drifting onto water.

Gabriel blinked. He hadn’t even realized his jaw had locked or that his breath had grown shallow.

"Let’s go inside the office," he murmured, voice quiet but tight, as though it had passed through years of buried memory.

Alina nodded, her expression soft with concern, and followed him silently down the corridor.

His footsteps echoed differently... slower, heavier, like his soul hadn’t quite caught up with his body.

By the time they reached the office, the air inside was tense.

Professor Hobb and Miss Kelly were already seated.

Dante stood by the window, arms crossed, his eyes dark and sharp. He looked furious.

When he saw Gabriel and Alina enter, he gave a single nod.

Gabriel went straight to him. "How was the situation?"

"Sorted out," Dante replied curtly. "But the kindergarten will be closed tomorrow. Another layer of shielding needs to be added."

Then, he looked straight at Alina. "No one is allowed to stay here overnight."

Alina blinked, confused. "Then... where am I supposed to go?"

"I can’t take you with me," Gabriel spoke quickly, sounding genuinely apologetic. "My house is in the sky, and the pressure up there would crush your human body."

Alina’s heart sank.

She didn’t want to go back to the town. Not again. Staying at a hotel meant spending more money... and she had already planned every penny for her mother’s medical bills.

Professor Hobb cleared his throat and adjusted his glasses.

"I can’t take you either," he said stiffly. "My wife’s already suspicious. If I walk in with you, she might slap you before asking questions."

Alina stared.

She forced a tight smile. "Thank you, Professor Hobb... for your thoughtful honesty."

Miss Kelly didn’t even hesitate.

"I’m not taking you," she said flatly.

Alina’s expression fell. She glanced at Dante, hoping someone—anyone—from the kindergarten staff would notice her. Maybe take her in?

She didn’t want to stay in the kindergarten alone. Not after what happened.

Then Dante spoke. "Since no one’s taking you, Miss Alina, I will."

Alina turned sharply, startled. "What...?"

"You’ll come with me," Dante said, firm and direct. "You don’t need to pack anything. Just come."

Alina stared at him. Even Gabriel looked surprised.

Dante didn’t say another word. He turned back to the window, arms crossed again.

Alina slowly nodded.

She was going home... with the Principal.

After Gabriel and the others left, Alina stayed behind with Dante.

The office fell quiet.

Dante didn’t say anything, but he looked at her with unreadable eyes — calm, focused, yet oddly deep.

He wasn’t speaking, but Alina could tell something was on his mind.

What she didn’t know was that he had already reviewed the entire footage of the day.

Every moment.

Every class.

He had seen how she comforted the crying children, how she remained calm under pressure, how she used her voice and presence to protect those little ones.

And he had to admit it—he was impressed.

She was good with children. Gentle, but firm. Soft-spoken, but dependable. And most importantly... the children seemed to genuinely like her.

They listened to her.

Trusted her.

Even Lucian.

But Alina didn’t know any of that. She simply stood there, unsure what to do next.

Dante hadn’t said a word to her since the others left.

She wasn’t sure how they were supposed to leave... or where exactly he planned to take her.

She shifted on her feet, hesitant, before quietly calling out—

"Sir?"

Her voice was soft, unsure.

She waited, eyes on him, heart a little nervous.

"Shh..." Dante said quietly, lifting one hand.

Alina froze.

Her eyes widened as a soft hum echoed through the air.

Right beside him, space twisted.

A dark portal opened — smooth, circular, and shimmering faintly like the night sky. It appeared without a sound, but its presence made the room feel colder somehow. Deeper.

"This portal will lead you to my house," Dante said calmly, turning slightly to face her. "There will be a maid waiting. She’ll guide you."

Alina blinked. "I—I just go in?"

Dante gave a small nod.

Before she could ask anything more, a quiet tug pulled at her feet. The portal reacted to her presence.

And in the next second, she felt herself being gently pulled forward. The sensation wasn’t painful — just sudden, like being swept into a dream.

She gasped softly.

And then she was gone.

Swallowed by the portal’s quiet darkness.

Dante remained still, watching the ripples fade.

He didn’t follow.

His home... wasn’t the kind others could simply walk to.

It didn’t exist on a map.

No spell could track it. No coordinates could reach it. Unless someone knew it — truly knew it — they would never find it.

And that was exactly how it had to be.

For someone like him, having a house like the other races was far too dangerous.

His enemies were powerful.

So his home had to be hidden... sealed in layers of magic that only he and a trusted few could pass through.

And now, for the first time...

He had let someone else in.

The moment Alina stepped through the portal, her breath caught.

For a second, everything was black like drifting in velvet smoke. Then, light bloomed around her in soft, silvery tones. She felt like she was floating, until her feet gently touched solid ground again.

She blinked, breath caught in her chest as the shadows slowly lifted. A heavy iron gate stood behind her, already closing with a quiet creak. Cold air brushed her cheek, carrying the scent of stone, earth, and something faintly smoky.

She turned slowly.

Before her stood a tall castle — dark, elegant, and still.

Towering gray walls, steep tiled roofs, and heavy windows with black wooden frames. The stone looked ancient, with ivy crawling along its sides, wind brushing through its edges.

The castle stood at the foot of a quiet hill, surrounded by tall trees and a long gravel path that led from the main road to the front steps.

The sky above was overcast. Pale light peeked through the clouds, casting soft shadows across the courtyard.

Alina swallowed.
