I Became a Kindergarten Teacher for Monster Babies! -
Chapter 73 Heart Run
Chapter 73: Chapter 73 Heart Run
She did her silly little dance in the sunlight, hopping from side to side, spinning in a big goofy circle, her skirt swishing. The babies just stared, eight tiny faces frozen in shock. Boo squeaked and hid his face in his hands. Lucian rolled his eyes so hard they nearly vanished. Luna muttered something under her breath that definitely sounded like a tiny wolf growl.
But Alina just laughed, clapped her hands, and called out, "Come on! Teacher’s doing it. You can too. One, two, three. Step, spin, clap!"
One by one, the spell broke. Sable shuffled his feet, trying his own tiny hops. Kelpie lifted his hands shyly, copying her swing. Luna huffed, then did a tiny spin that made her pigtail smack Drake’s arm. Boo wiggled in the air, squealing when Alina spun like him.
Soon the neat rows dissolved into giggles and crooked jumps. Little feet thudded on the grass, squeaky sneakers squealed, tiny voices counted, "One, two, three!" in squeaky harmony. Vlad Jr. did his steps so elegantly it almost looked like a ballroom dance. Felix smirked and spun extra fancy, like he was showing off.
In the middle of it all was Alina, laughing and spinning, her cheeks pink with joy.
After a while, the music faded into the soft rustle of the garden breeze. One by one, her tiny monsters dropped onto the cool grass like tired little kittens. Drake flopped down dramatically on his back, arms and legs spread out like a starfish. Boo lay next to him, half-floating and half-snoring. Vlad Jr. sat cross-legged with perfect posture but his cheeks were flushed pink. Even Luna, still pretending to pout, curled up on her side with her messy hair sticking to her forehead.
Alina stood for a second, hands on her knees, catching her breath too, her ponytail slipping loose. Then she chuckled, her eyes crinkling when she saw how they all looked: sweaty, rosy-cheeked, and strangely proud of themselves.
She plopped down on the grass in front of them, legs crossed and her skirt pooling around her. She looked at each little face, sleepy eyes and goofy smiles, and spoke in her gentle, simple voice.
"See? This was more than just fun," she said, tapping her chest lightly. "When we dance and move like this, our bodies get stronger and braver. It makes our heart feel good inside, like it’s learning to run too."
Drake peeked at her through his bangs, still panting. "Heart run?" he asked, his voice squeaky.
Alina giggled and nodded. "Yes, sweetheart. Our heart needs to run sometimes so we stay healthy and happy. And when we move together like this, it makes us better friends too."
Kelpie, who was sitting cross-legged with his damp hair sticking to his cheeks, blinked up at her. "We friends when we dance?" he asked shyly.
Mhm. Alina nodded, her smile soft and wide. "When we do things together like dancing, singing, playing, our hearts get to know each other better. That’s what makes us one big family."
Sable, half hidden behind Boo, whispered, "Family?"
Alina reached over and brushed his hair from his eyes. "Yes, sweetheart. One day you’ll see, all of you help each other grow strong. Even when Teacher’s not here, you’ll remember how to be kind and have fun together."
Little giggles rose from the circle. Luna peeked open one sleepy eye and gave a tiny huff but she didn’t move away when Drake flopped his arm over her shoulder. Felix pretended to look bored but he was the first to bump his little knee into Vlad Jr., who gave him a tiny proud nod in return.
Lucian didn’t say a word but he sat very still, his tiny fingers playing with a blade of grass. It’s different, he thought quietly. Not boring like other things. And warm. His sharp red eyes drifted to Alina’s pink cheeks and bright, sunny smile and deep in his tiny chest, something soft and new curled up, warm like a blanket.
"One more time!" Drake suddenly shouted, shooting up like a little rocket. Kelpie blinked wide-eyed, Sable’s eyes peeked open, and Boo squealed, "Yes! Boo dance again!"
Alina threw her head back and laughed, a sweet, airy sound that made the shadows in the trees feel lighter. "Alright, alright. One more time. Last round," she giggled, tapping her phone to start the music again.
One by one, they pushed up from the grass, messy hair, crumpled uniforms, big goofy smiles. In the middle of all that happy chaos, Alina’s heart tugged a little as she thought, If Rocky was here, he would have liked this too.
But then Drake grabbed Boo’s hand, Luna bumped into Kelpie, and tiny feet stomped in a wild, wobbly circle. Their bright laughter rose again.
From the edge of the garden where the shade of the old trees reached toward the grass, Dante watched in silence, unseen in the shadows, his tall frame leaning against the trunk.
He hadn’t planned to come here but when he’d heard the squeals of laughter and the echo of cheerful music drifting through the corridor, his feet had moved before he could stop himself. Maybe he’d tell himself it was just to observe the human teacher again, to make sure she wasn’t making a fool of herself. But as he stood there, arms folded, it was obvious his sharp red eyes weren’t focused on discipline at all.
His gaze rested on the smallest figure first, Lucian, dancing cheerfully on the grass, breathing hard but with a light in his eyes Dante hadn’t seen for a long time.
Dante’s broad shoulders softened. His lips, so often pressed into a hard line, curved upward into a rare smile. Fleeting, but real. He caught himself. Maybe she really did have something special, this human with her pink cheeks and gentle eyes.
His eyes lingered on Alina, hair escaping her ponytail, her face flushed and glowing under the sun as she danced with tiny babies who squealed and laughed like they’d just discovered the best secret in the world. She was spinning with Drake and Boo, guiding Sable’s shy hands, and clapping with Lucian when he did a tiny hop.
She didn’t even look tired. She just looked alive. Happy. And somehow, that warmth made something deep in his demon heart loosen for a moment.
