Chapter 72 Dance
Chapter 72: Chapter 72 Dance
Alpha Ryker huffed a small laugh, the sound rumbling deep in his chest. He lifted a heavy hand and gently ruffled her hair. "Little pup... you keep staring at me like I’ll run off the moment you look away."
Luna sniffed dramatically, ignoring how her nose scrunched up at his teasing. "I’m making sure Daddy okay," she declared, her tiny voice so serious it made his lips twitch. "If Daddy move too much, I bite you. Stay down."
A low chuckle escaped him, though the motion tugged at the healing wound across his ribs. "So fierce," he rumbled, pride shining through the exhaustion in his eyes. "Did you finish your homework, my moon?"
Luna puffed her cheeks, looking scandalized. "Not yet! Teacher said... write one to ten." She squinted at her paper, the numbers clumsy and crooked. Then her tiny eyes darted up to him again, worried, protective, impossibly fierce for such a small wolf. "You sleep. I guard."
Ryker’s throat tightened, a warmth so deep it pushed away the pain for a moment. He traced a hand lightly over her cheek, his touch gentle despite the strength in his hands. "Good girl," he murmured. "Strongest little wolf I know."

The next morning dawned fresh and soft, sunlight pouring through the tall windows of Little Fang Kindergarten. Alina felt a quiet excitement in her chest as she walked down the hallway, her bag bouncing lightly at her side. Fifth day, she thought with a small smile. Only one more day until my trial is over. I can do this.
She pushed open the colorful door to Class D, her eyes sweeping over the tiny seats and the circle rug in the middle. As always, her little students were already waiting, some still rubbing sleep from their eyes, some already chatting in their squeaky voices.
But her eyes went straight to Luna, curled up on her usual beanbag, this time in her human form with her wild gray hair in uneven pigtails. Alina walked over and crouched down, smoothing a bit of hair behind Luna’s ear.
"Good morning, sweetheart," she whispered softly. "How’s your daddy today?"
Luna’s eyes flicked up, still proud but not as stormy as yesterday. She sniffed and puffed her cheeks. "He strong," she said, nodding fiercely, like she was daring anyone to disagree. "Mommy says he roar at healer and said no more yucky herbs."
Alina laughed under her breath, her heart warm. "Of course he did. Brave little wolf — thank you for telling Teacher."
She stood up, straightening her skirt, and started calling roll. Her gentle smile faltered for just a moment when she reached Rocky’s name. Absent, she noted quietly. Her fingers worried at the edge of the paper. Why? Is he sick? He’s so shy... I hope he’s alright.
She tucked the worry away for now and clapped her hands together, her warm voice filling the room. "Alright, sweethearts! Today our first class is Language. We’re going to learn some new words today and how to use them like big, clever kids."
Little ears perked up. Boo, floating upside down, groaned dramatically, "Words? So many words..." But Sable leaned forward with wide eyes, his pencil already tapping on his desk. Drake looked ready to shout out every word before anyone else could.
Alina moved to the board, drawing simple words in big, clear letters: cat, bat, sun, moon.
"Let’s say these together, okay?" she said gently. "Repeat after Teacher."
"Cat!" Drake barked out, his tail wagging so wildly that Vlad Jr. gave him a tiny elegant glare.
"Bat..." Vlad Jr. said next, his lips curling into a small, proud smile — of course he’d pick that one.
"Sun!" Luna said, her voice strong again, her tiny fingers tapping her desk.
"Moon," Sable whispered shyly, his shadow flickering under his chair as if it was repeating it too.
When Language class ended, Alina checked her schedule on her phone and let out a tiny sigh. Play time already? she thought, peeking at the big clock on the wall. This schedule is all over the place but it’s fine. They won’t just run around wildly today.
She stood up and clapped her hands, her sweet teacher voice carrying across the room. "Alright, my little ones! It’s time for play! Let’s go outside!"
The moment they heard "play," tiny squeaks and tail wags exploded everywhere. Drake’s eyes gleamed with mischief — he immediately started shadow-boxing the air like he was ready to wrestle a dragon. Luna’s fur puffed up as she shifted into her wolf form, trotting in circles near the door. Even Boo floated up and down excitedly.
Earlier, she’d asked one of the older staff members for help and now, as she led her tiny students outside to the sunny garden, she saw a big portable music player already set up near the flower beds, wires trailing neatly over the grass.
"Teacher, teacher!" Drake shouted, his tail flicking. "Are we going to play games? Are we gonna fight, run, roll?"
Alina just smiled sweetly, secretly. "Hmm... something like that," she said with a twinkle in her eyes. "Line up nicely now."
They obeyed right away, still thinking they’d get to run wild like little beasts. The line looked adorable. Boo floated smugly between Kelpie and Sable, who both looked confused but ready.
Drake clenched his fists, shoulders bouncing with excitement. "Okay! Let’s roll around! Let’s fight the tree! Let’s—"
Click.
Alina turned to the staff member who gave her a thumbs-up, and the big speaker came alive with the sweetest, silliest human kids’ dance song she’d found online. Cheerful beats filled the air.
"Today..." Alina said sweetly, her smile turning a bit mischievous. "...we’re doing dance exercise!"
The garden fell silent. The music chirped on.
Drake’s jaw dropped. Boo’s eyes went huge. Vlad Jr. looked personally offended, like she’d insulted his vampire lineage. Even Luna shifted back to her girl form, crossing her arms with a low growl in her throat.
"Dance... exercise?" Drake squeaked. "But—but we thought we’d play or training!"
Alina just stepped in front of them, her ponytail bouncing as she raised her arms high. She wiggled her fingers and hopped on the balls of her feet. "Step, step — swing your arms! Bounce! Spin! Like this!"
