Chapter 64: Chapter 64 Brave pup (1)

She paused, pressing her free hand to her chest, as if holding her breaking heart in place. "Please tell her... tell my little moon to be strong for Daddy. And... thank you for holding her. It means more than you know."

Alina felt a small tug on her sleeve.. tiny, warm hands pressing into the soft fabric. She looked down and saw Luna’s big red eyes, filled with fresh tears that clung stubbornly to her lashes. Her lips trembled, opening and closing like she didn’t know how to make her voice come out.

"Luna wants to talk to you..." Alina said softly, her chest squeezing at the quiet desperation in those baby eyes. She gently pressed the phone into Luna’s small hand, curling her fingers around it.

Luna sniffed, pushing back her messy hair with her wrist as she lifted the phone to her ear. "Mom..." she breathed, her voice so tiny it made Alina’s eyes sting. .com

On the other end, Luna Serafina’s calm mask cracked just a little — her throat tightened when she heard that single word. The cold Alpha Queen, strong enough to stand in a house full of blood and dead warriors, felt her eyes burn at the helplessness in her pup’s baby voice.

"My little moon..." Serafina murmured, her voice softer than the wind that rustled through the windows. She wished she could hold her daughter right now — stroke her fur, bury her nose into that thick little ruff around Luna’s neck like when she was born. But she forced herself to speak steady. She needs strength, she told herself. Not my tears.

"Mommy... Daddy is okay?" Luna whispered, her lower lip wobbling, her eyes squeezing shut as if it might stop the tears. She looked so small curled up in Alina’s arms.

Serafina’s heart cracked wider, but her voice was as strong as the old oak trees that guarded their lands. "Your Daddy is very strong, my moon. He’s resting. You were so brave — you protected our family last night too, didn’t you?"

Luna’s tiny claws dug into Alina’s sleeve again, her little shoulders trembling. "But I wanted to stay... I wanted to help Daddy..." she hiccuped, her words tumbling over each other like baby growls.

Alina could feel each word like a small heartbeat against her arm. She pressed her lips to Luna’s soft hair, humming a soothing sound.

"You helped, Luna. You did so well," Serafina whispered, her own eyes, "You are my strongest little wolf. Listen to Teacher Alina, stay safe, and when Daddy is better, he will come hold you, yes?"

Luna sniffed louder, wiping her nose with the back of her hand. "Mom... tell Daddy... tell him I love him much much..." she mumbled, her baby voice thick.

Serafina closed her eyes tight. "I will, my moon. He hears you, even now."

When the call finally ended, Alina could feel the tension melting out of Luna’s small body. The pup — now a grumpy little girl in her crumpled red uniform — tucked the phone under Alina’s arm like it was a precious toy she’d borrowed for a minute. Her little shoulders relaxed, and she sniffed once more, but this time there was no fresh tear.

Alina brushed a stray hair away from Luna’s forehead, pressing her thumb gently between those tiny brows that were still scrunched in fierce wolf worry. "There’s my brave girl..." she murmured, trying to keep her voice light.

But her curiosity got the best of her. She’d heard the word help from Serafina, and she couldn’t help herself — How does a little pup help in a fight? Alina tilted her head, catching Luna’s gaze. "Sweetheart... how did you help your pack last night?"

At once, Luna’s red eyes widened then narrowed with the fiercest baby pride Alina had ever seen. It was like watching a tiny queen getting ready to give a royal speech. The other babies, who had drifted closer to listen, leaned in too, their eyes round.

"I bite," Luna said seriously, her nose wrinkling just like a little wolf. "I bite bad rogue! He pull my tail — so I bite him so hard!" She snapped her teeth for effect, a tiny growl rumbling in her throat.

Drake’s tail flicked, his eyes going wide with delight. "You bite him?! Where?!"

Luna puffed out her little chest. "On his butt!" she declared. "He yelped like pup! Daddy said good girl."

Alina slapped a hand over her mouth to hide her giggle, her eyes watering with how adorable it was. She could almost picture Luna — this tiny fluffball of fur, launching herself at a full-grown rogue, little teeth sinking right where it hurt the most.

"You really are Teacher’s bravest wolf," Alina said, pressing a kiss to her soft hair. Luna’s tail gave a proud wag, and she tucked her nose against Alina’s shoulder, her grumpy face softening into something that almost looked shy. freeNovelFire

Around them, Drake whispered to Boo, "If Luna can bite, maybe I can bite bad people too!" Boo looked horrified and started shaking his head, but Alina just laughed.

Alina gave Luna one last gentle squeeze before she shifted her onto her feet, careful not to ruffle her little red uniform too much. Luna’s tiny shoes thudded softly on the classroom floor as she stood there, her proud little chest puffed out like she was the queen of every wolf pack in the world.

Alina knelt down for a second, tucking stray strands of gray hair back into Luna’s messy pigtails. "There," she whispered, smoothing the soft tufts behind her ears. "Our little warrior should look neat too, hmm?" Luna’s eyes glowed brightly with that fierce baby pride, her tail giving a quick flick behind her skirt.

Standing up, Alina turned to face the rest of Class D — everyone watching with round eyes and twitching tails and flickering shadows. She placed her hands on her hips, her voice warm but clear. "Everyone — did you hear what Luna did for her pack? She was so brave! She helped protect her family when they were in danger."
