Chapter 63 Rogue attack
Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Rogue attack
Alina sat carefully on the her chair, Luna tucked snugly in her arms like a fragile bundle of soft fur and tiny sniffles. She could still feel the little pup’s heartbeat thumping against her chest, the warmth soaking into her cold fingers. She brushed Luna’s soft ear aside, murmuring softly, "Okay sweetheart... don’t cry, don’t cry... Teacher’s here."
She glanced down and spotted her bag lying forgotten by the door and before she could move, Boo’s tiny ghostly hands appeared out of nowhere. He floated it up and plopped it next to her on the desk with a proud little grin. "Here you go, Teacher!" he whispered like a secret, and Alina gave him a soft, grateful smile.
Luna, feeling the warmth of being held and hearing that gentle voice, shifted in a flicker of gray light. Her tiny wolf form faded, and there she was again — a beautiful, grumpy little girl with messy pigtails poking out from her fluffy gray hair. Her cheeks were pink and wet from crying, her little red eyes still swollen but burning with that fierce baby longing.
"I want Daddy..." Luna hiccuped, her lips wobbling. "I want to go Daddy Daddy..."
Alina’s chest squeezed. She brushed her thumb under Luna’s eyes, wiping away the wetness as gently as she could. She could feel it, the helpless love a child carries for their parents. The way it tugs and hurts. Alina’s own heart twinged with memories of her mother’s tired smile in that hospital bed.
She took a steady breath and tucked Luna’s hair behind her tiny ear. "Alright, Luna dear," she murmured softly, voice like warm honey. "Can you tell Teacher your daddy’s phone number? Or someone in your pack who can come talk to you?"
Luna’s eyes lit up through her tears, her pout fading just a bit. She sniffed and nodded her tiny head, her little fists curling around Alina’s sleeve. Alina pulled her phone out from her bag, unlocking the screen with her still-shaking fingers.
"Tell me, sweetheart," Alina said, her thumb hovering over the dial pad. "Nice and slow, okay?"
Luna puffed up her cheeks, her nose scrunched like an angry kitten, and she squeaked, "One-One-Two-Two-Three-Three-Four-Four-Five-Five."
Alina’s lips twitched. She almost laughed but she caught herself when she saw Luna’s deadly serious face. Goodness, it’s so cute.
And as if the tiny wolf could read her mind, Luna sniffed again and muttered, "My daddy said I don’t remember numbers good... so he made me easy number. So I remember. Daddy is smart..." Her baby voice dropped into a tiny, sleepy grumble, her big eyes blinking slowly.
Alina’s chest felt tight but in the soft, good way. She could see it in Luna’s whole little body, the way she curled into her lap like she belonged there. This fierce, grumpy pup loved her father so much she’d rather run away from school than stay without him.
She pressed a kiss to the top of Luna’s fluffy head and dialed the number, her thumb trembling just a bit. She could feel Boo and Drake watching her with wide eyes, and she forced herself not to laugh at how serious they looked too.
The phone buzzed against her ear. Ring... ring... The line crackled, each second dragging like hours. Alina smoothed her hand over Luna’s back, rocking her just slightly.
No matter who’s on the other end, she thought, her heart steady, this little one comes first.

At the same time, the condition of the Moonfang Pack was not good at all. Their pack house had been attacked by rogue werewolves last night without any warning, and no one was prepared for such a sudden and violent attack. Many of their people lost their lives during the fight, and when you looked around the pack grounds, you could see dead bodies and wounded wolves lying everywhere. Blood stained the ground and walls, and even though they managed to win the battle in the end, the cost was too high—they lost more than thirty young warriors. Because of this, the whole atmosphere around the pack was heavy with grief and worry.
Alpha Ryker himself was badly injured during the attack. Now, he was lying on his bed, unable to move much, with a long, deep scar running across his entire chest. He had almost been torn apart completely, but luckily, his loyal beta reached him just in time and saved his life. Since the Alpha was too hurt to take charge, Luna Serafina and the beta were doing their best to handle the situation and keep the pack together.
Thanks to the werewolves’ fast healing ability, Alpha Ryker was awake, but the pain was still too much for him to bear. While he lay there trying to rest, his phone suddenly started ringing beside him. Luna Serafina, who was sitting near his bed, picked up the phone for him and noticed that the call was from an unknown number.
When she answered it, she heard a young woman’s voice on the other end, which made her frown a little in confusion.
On the other side, Alina’s soft, gentle voice crackled through. "Um — hello? I hope I’m not disturbing you — I’m Miss Alina, Luna’s teacher from Little Fang Kindergarten. I... I just wanted to let you know... Luna was very upset this morning. She was crying a lot about her father. She wanted to go to him."
Serafina closed her eyes for a heartbeat, her chest tightening. Her gaze fell on Ryker’s pale, strained face. His eyes, half-open, flicked to hers — the unspoken question burning in the black depths. She gently brushed a lock of hair from his forehead as she answered the woman on the line.
"I see. Thank you for calling." Serafina’s voice dropped lower, holding back a weary sigh. "We... we know she misses him. Last night’s attack was sudden. The pack house isn’t safe for a child right now, there’s blood, bodies, grief everywhere. We didn’t want her to see this. So we sent her to school early this morning. She’s too young to understand..."
