Chapter 65: Chapter 65 Brave pup (2)

Standing up, Alina turned to face the rest of Class D — everyone watching with round eyes and twitching tails and flickering shadows. She placed her hands on her hips, her voice warm but clear. "Everyone — did you hear what Luna did for her pack? She was so brave! She helped protect her family when they were in danger."

Drake’s eyes sparkled. Boo’s mouth formed a perfect O. Even shy little Rocky peeked out from behind his hands, his cheeks turning pink.

"So," Alina said, her heart swelling as she looked at each of their tiny faces, "I think our brave wolf deserves a big clap, don’t you?"

She didn’t wait for an answer. She brought her hands together — clap, clap, clap — the sound echoing around the bright classroom walls. One by one, tiny hands followed: Drake clapped the loudest, tail wagging like crazy. Boo floated higher, clapping his ghostly hands with a big grin. Vlad Jr. clapped politely, nose held high but his eyes twinkling. Even Felix gave a single slow clap, his fluffy tails flicking behind him. Sable peeked out from his shadowy corner, tiny palms tapping shyly together.

Luna’s ears twitched, her face turning a soft shade of pink. She growled softly, pretending to look annoyed. She lifted her chin, staring at her classmates with that baby-wolf pride that made Alina smile.

"Good job, sweetheart," Alina whispered. "You’re our brave girl."

After calming Luna, who now sat back at her desk with her chin propped on her tiny fists, Alina felt a gentle warmth settle over her heart. She tapped her attendance sheet, counting tiny heads one by one. Lucian? Here. Sable? Here. Kelpie? Boo? Rocky? Here, here, here... all present.

She didn’t call their names out loud since twenty minutes had already passed since the first class started. freeNovelFire

She let out a quiet breath, then clapped her hands together, catching every little monster’s attention. "Alright, sweethearts! Today is free activity class — so guess what? Teacher made something special for you!"

She opened her file and carefully took out the colorful worksheets she’d stayed up late to finish last night. She could almost see the silly dragon doodles in the corners, the fluffy bats, the sparkling water mazes, and tiny fox illusions she’d traced by hand. Her chest bloomed with quiet pride — her babies deserved to feel special, and for Lucian she’d even made tiny horns and demonic-style emojis.

One by one, she walked around the room, placing each worksheet down in front of its owner. Drake’s eyes went so wide they almost looked round as marbles when he saw the playful cartoon dragon at the top of his puzzle sheet. He sucked in a tiny breath, his tail flicking against his chair.

"Teacher! This dragon looks like me!" he gasped, tapping his chubby finger on the paper.

Alina covered her mouth to hide her giggle, bending down to meet his sparkling amber eyes. "Of course, sweetheart. That’s your dragon! Teacher made it just for you."

Drake puffed out his chest like a baby emperor, hugging the worksheet to his little chest before he remembered he actually had to do it. Across the room, Luna tilted her head and stuck out her tongue as she tried to figure out her maze — a proud wolf in a forest of doodle trees. Vlad Jr. raised an elegant eyebrow at the tiny vampire prince scribbled on his puzzle, secretly pleased but hiding it behind a sigh.

Even Sable traced a finger around the tiny black shadows Alina had drawn just for him, the corner of his mouth lifting in the smallest shy smile. Boo floated upside down, inspecting his ghost riddle with a goofy grin — his sheet had a sparkly glitter ghost doodle that made him giggle.

Rocky just blinked at the rock-shaped connect-the-dots, then looked at Alina with that slow, stone-still expression only he could pull off. But his big eyes twinkled — that was enough for her.

"Alright! Have fun, little ones. Teacher will help if anyone gets stuck, okay?" Alina said brightly, sitting on the edge of her desk so she could watch them all. Their tiny heads bent over their papers, little tongues poking out as they concentrated, claws tapping their pencils — it was perfect.

Alina’s eyes naturally drifted to the quiet corner where Lucian sat — tiny but always carrying that air of seriousness, just like his father. He hadn’t even glanced up when she passed him his worksheet. He’d taken it with a polite nod, his little fingers smoothing the paper edges perfectly on his desk as if it was a royal decree. f|re(e)web.n\ovel. (c)o.m

While the others giggled and whispered and showed off their doodles, Lucian’s small brow was furrowed so deeply it made Alina want to kiss the tiny crease away. His tiny horns peeked through his dark hair, gleaming under the morning sun filtering through the classroom windows.

She stepped closer, careful not to disturb him. From over his small shoulder, she saw he’d already finished the first puzzle — each letter and number written in the neatest baby handwriting she’d ever seen. Not a single letter out of line. He even corrected a mistake with a tiny eraser, brushing the shavings off his desk like a little gentleman.

When he felt her presence, Lucian slowly lifted his head — his deep red eyes locked onto hers with that tiny hint of curiosity he’d never show out loud. His small lips pressed into a flat line as if to say, What? f(r)eew(e)bnovel.(c)o(m)

Alina bit her lip to hide her smile. "Is it too easy, sweetheart?" she asked softly, crouching beside him so she didn’t tower over his proud little figure.

Lucian blinked once, then gave a tiny, reluctant nod. "A bit," he said, his voice so quiet but firm. He turned the page over with his tiny hand and tapped the back. "More next time. Please."

The polite ’please’ made her heart flip. She wanted to squish his cheeks so badly, but she held herself back. "Of course, Your Highness," she teased lightly, and the corner of his mouth twitched– so tiny she almost missed it. He turned his head quickly so she wouldn’t see.

"Teacher will make extra-challenging puzzles for you next time. Is that okay?" she added.
