I Am Tired Of Being A Hero -
Chapter 88: The New Forensic Officer
Chapter 88: The New Forensic Officer
"This is a new addition to our team." Arlen smiled. The young woman did not want him to introduce her and stepped forward, "Help everyone, my name is Kora Klenn. I am a Forensic Officer from Jamia, I would be working with your Davenport Bureau three times a week."
"Didn’t you say you would consider moving here completely?"
"I said that I would consider it just yesterday. 24 hours is not enough to make a logical decision. Sorry about that. I am 29 years old and.." she frowned as if looking for what to say about herself.
Was it that hard? Ravi did not like her. That is normal, right? To meet someone and with one look, you can tell that you do not like them.
"I grew up in Alstria. I am a Level 4 mutant."
"Level 4..." Draco hissed.
Power-hugging fool. What is so special about Level 4, that little Sage neighbor of his was even stronger than a Level 4. He tapped the desk with a frown on his face.
"What is your ability?" Lisa asked the woman.
Kora pulled her lapcoat closer and paused.
Why was she pausing every 2 seconds? Is she a glitching robot?
The woman raised her hand and Lisa was gently lifted into the air, "Wow!!!" She screamed, her eyes full of excitement before she was lifted down.
He could do that too.
"Telekinesis." Kora said.
"Come, let me take you to your office." Arlen said and helped her carry her suitcase. Ravi watched the suitcase with annoyed eyes, his fingers twitched, and he just wanted to blast the suitcase to bite.
Besides, she had telekinesis, does she need his help to carry the suitcase? Why was he so happy to have her here?
Because a Forensic Officer is very important. But even though his mind rationally supplied the answer, his emotions still did not calm down.
"She is so handsome. Do you think she would want a picture?"
Ravi gave her a look.
’What? You don’t like her?"
"I did not say that."
"It is written all over your face." She said with a grin.
Ravi focused on his system while looking through the door they used to get to the Forensic lab in the building. What are they still doing there?
He looked for a while before the phone rang and he picked it up.
"Davenport Police Bureau. Officer Johnson for you." He passed the phone to Lisa and stood up. That was it, it had been 45 minutes already.
"Officer West. If you are going past the Forensic lab, tell the Captain, that the Fire Brigade...." Sarah looked at Ravi. This was Ravi, what was she doing, sending him on an errand, "Forget it. I would go myself."
"No. I would go. I would go and tell the Captain." Ravi said hurriedly, making Sarah raise an eyebrow.
"Tell me what?" Arlen said as he entered through the door. He saw Ravi and smiled, "Officer West."
"Captain!" Ravi greeted without any smile and headed to the water dispenser.
He poured some warm water into a cup and drank it. Sarah was telling Arlen about the Fire Brigade.
Ravi drank another cup of water, his chest felt stuffie with emotions that the warm water could not melt away.
"Officer West, there will be a package coming in the next thirty minutes, please direct them to take it to the Lab. I have to go to the fire department. We would have our meeting by twelve. Officer Brown and Sergeant Tom, you should go out and do some preliminary investigation. Officer Johnson followed up on the insurance investigation for this set of victims. Officer West, after the package arrives, and you are done with the victim investigation, you and Officer Adams will go through the Dune Surveillance and look for anything odd."
With that, Arlen hurriedly left.
The cup was on Ravi’s lips but still, he did not drink any water. He gritted his teeth and the thought of the instruction that he had gotten from Arlen.
Him, give a package to Kora. A package from Arlen. He has not gotten a package from Arlen yet. Not that the fact that he had not gotten a package from Arlen was important.
Expect that it was.
"Now, you look like the Ravi that I remember. Has the nice spirit that possessed you left?" Lisa said as she headed to the printing machine.
"No, it just hid when it saw you." Ravi squeezed the cup and dropped it in the trash.
Twenty minutes later, the package came and the entire office stopped working. Not only was it a much larger coffee machine than the one that Arlen had brought for them, but there was also a mini fridge and some groceries.
Ravi looked at the four men who were carrying the things and took a deep breath. He led them to the office and didn’t even open the door.
"In there."
He walked back and sat in his cubicle.
"Do you think that she is Captain Arlen’s girlfriend? It makes sense, how he would be able to bring a forensic officer to this town." Draco whispered, more like shouted it in the office.
"They are not dating." Ravi suddenly said, causing all the attention to focus on him.
The looks he got were burning but Ravi pretended not to notice a single one of them.
"It is true you and the Cap tin are close. I don’t know anything about his personal life. Does he have someone he is dating?
Close. They were close? Was it what it looked like? Ravi wanted to smile, "What do you mean you don’t know anything about his personal life, he is always chatting with everyone."
Sarah shook his head, "Captain is friendly but he is close-lipped about his personal life. I am not saying it is a bad thing but we don’t really know much about him."
Really? Ravi looked around and saw from their gazes that they were serious.
What fridge or mini fridge? He knew about the Captain more than anyone. About his family? He fought to keep the grin off his smile. His joy was just all too evident.
"Is that so?" He said.
"Can you keep that bragging expression off your face?"
