I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 135: Deal!

Chapter 135: Deal!

Asher looked at the door, "A little bit. Ravi, does this mean Sage is a villain too, like a villain like Poison Ivy?"

"Probably."

The expression on Asher’s face fell and he lowered his head.

Maybe Sage was the first friend Asher was making in a very long time, Ravi did not know about Asher’s past. But he knew Sage was no milk cookie. The aura of blood around the seventeen-year-old showed that he had killed a lot and was not afraid to kill again. Was he a bad guardian because he allowed his young ward to be around such dangerous people?

But he knew something, sometimes it is the dangerous people that can save you. When he was at his lowest, it was Alya, a grim reaper, someone who had a different ideology from the righteous Sentinel that had stood for him, protecting him against the sentence and wishes of most Immortals. Even the Immortal Sponsor of the Sentinel had barely looked his way then, all his calls had not been answered by them.

"Asher, not every hero is a good person, and not all villains are evil. Things are not so white and black like that. That is what I believe."

Asher pursed his lips, he had spent all his life on the villain’s side, "Villains are called Villains for a reason. They are selfish, greedy, and just evil. You should not trust people like us."

"You are not a villain, Ash. You were forced in some bad circumstances. EVERYTHING you did was so you could survive. You are a kid who was dealt a bad hand by fate. You are not a villain." He touched his head, "You see, everyone is different, My beliefs and my choices are shaped by my experiences. I don’t want to argue about who is a villain and who is not. I have spent so long caring about that, that I don’t want to care about it again. See, Ash. I am not asking you to follow my beliefs, You are 13, and you are going to have so much experience that is going to shape your belief system. I only ask that you be a little open-minded and give people a little chance."

Asher was quiet and watched him, "Ravi, are you older than you look?"

Ravi chuckled, "Yes, I am. I am an old man.":

Asher laughed out loud. His laughter rang like bells in the quiet house.

"Okay. You don’t have to think too much about all this stuff now. For now, I just want to know how you feel about Lana taking care of you when I go to work. I won’t be comfortable leaving you alone and I won’t be comfortable taking you to a police station either."

Asher stilled and looked at the window. Poison Ivy, taking care of him.

"Do you trust her Ravi?"

"Strangely enough, Yes."

Asher looked into those hazel eyes and calculated, the priestess against Poison Ivy, he thinks Poison Ivy might win. That thought made him relax and he nodded, "But can we not stay here? In this house when you are at work."

"Sure. You should be studying for your entrance exam after all."

"Exam?" Asher’s voice was shrill.

Ravi looked satisfied as he grinned, "Of course, surely, you did not think that you would jump into any school without exams. I would look for a study center, perhaps for a week." He scratched his jaw, which should have given him enough time to clear whoever and whatever Infernal Covenant was targeting Ash.

Seeing the look on Asher’s face, for the first time he was delighted in someone’s misfortune, "You can throw a tantrum. I won’t ground you."

That made the expression on Asher’s face even worse, "I am not a child."

"I am going to teach you something in the evening, remind me, Okay?" He said, patting Asher’s head.

Asher nodded and the two of them left the room, heading back to the living room, where Lana was standing awkwardly waiting for them.

"Sixteen minutes." She said to indicate her approval.

Ravi smiled, "Lana, I have a job for you." He thought for a while, according to all his movies, very smart people often fail terribly when it comes to teaching basic science to young children, "Okay. A bodyguard. From 8-4, then I picked him up. For a week."

Lana looked at him in disbelief, "I have two Phds, if not for Malik, I would be a professor in..."

"Aside from the good pay, we would provide 2 meals a day."

"Done." Lana did not hesitate, "I would protect Little Ash for a week. You would feed me, give me snacks and then on Saturday, we would have a grill. You had one with Sage. He told me all about it."

Even Asher was speechless with how fast she changed her mind. The beautiful lady bent down and said coldly, "It is my first time doing this kind of job, but I will do my best to get an A+."

"A+?" Asher asked, looking at Ravi who shrugged his shoulders, and headed into the kitchen.

"It is my first bodyguard job, you have to grade me." She scratched her jaw as she thought, then continued a minute later, "On Threat Assessment and Awareness, Protection Techniques, Communication and Coordination, Surveillance and Crisis Management."

"Eh?" Asher blinked, his eyes turning to Ravi, a foolish and bewildered expression on his face.

Ravi could not help himself, his shoulder shook suspiciously as he took out a tray and two bowls.

"Deal?" She stretched out her hand.

Asher’s gaze could burn Ravi’s back but his guardian pretended not to see him. There was nothing that he disliked about Ravi, he had always felt like the other party was the nicest and best human in the world, but at this moment, he felt his guardian can be mean.

"Deal."

"I would suggest that you study extensively on it so that you can grade me well. I can look for some papers that would give you a unique insight on..."

Ravi could not help it, he burst out laughing. Seeing the expression on Asher’s face, he felt a little pity for Asher.

"Alright. Lana, your meal is ready."
