I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 134: Poison Ivy

Chapter 134: Poison Ivy

It was understandable how much withdrawn Asher was during the day. He claimed that it was a nightmare and he asked Ravi to forget everything that happened last night. It was as if all the progress they had made since he carried the cat back home had disappeared.

He did his chores and ate his breakfast methodically but that light of living life had completely disappeared and Ravi did not know what to do.

"I will protect you. No one would harm you." Seemed overused, Asher did not believe it and it was not like he was legally responsible for Asher, according to their deal, he could leave anytime. The thought made him feel like there was a sour taste on his lips, it felt a lot like frustration.

Frustration, huh?

He patted the head of the child who was sitting on the sofa and headed outside.

"You can come in through the front gate, you don’t need to jump over the fence anymore," Ravi said when he saw the young woman hanging off the fence. She stretched her hand and green vines sprouted from them, creating a bed and she landed on it.

Her face was colder than usual, her green hair was packed into a bun and she wore a wired glass. Ravi moved closer and took a sniff of the red spots on her white lab coat.

"Sower."

Lana dusted her lab coat habitually, "Who knew there were a few sowers left over in the Nest in Harlan? I did a few experiments on them." She grinned, there was a crazy light in her steel-like eyes, "I am still running a few tests but I think the results would be something farmers like you would be extremely interested in."

Ravi cocked his head, "Those Sowers, he had been leaving them for a reason, for them to grow much larger so he could clean them up. Something a farmer like him could be interested in, "Oh!" He said lightly, "Is it that they aid crops in growing larger and faster."

Lana’s jaw slackened in disbelief, it had been something she had been working on, all day and all night, hardly eating, never leaving her lab and this person had already discovered it. She looked around, it made sense while his farm had been so bountiful when she came here, last time in February. None of the crops were growing in their natural time, their growth had all been accelerated, she had experimented with a few crops in her lab but you can compare it to this farm.

This was the perfect controlled environment for her experiment. She looked up, if she killed this person, this farm would all be hers. She could publish her study and her coming to Davenport would not be such a punishment anymore.

"There is beef stew. Do you want some?" she had not eaten much at all, and there were a lot of leftovers.

Beef stew. Lana’s stomach rumbled. Beef stew. She nodded, "I want."

She followed him into the house, turning back to give the farm another look before entering inside.

There was a bamboo basket on the kitchen counter and she headed towards it. She took out a round tomato from the basket, gave it a nice rinse, and then bit into it. Her eyes brightened immediately, this tomato was a little different from the other mainstream tomatoes you get in grocery stores.

The flavor was so rich, that the sweet and sour juices would burst out the moment you bit into it, filling one with the desire to have more and more.

"Now, this is the reason that tomatoes are called fruit. Can I take some to my lab later?"

Ravi blinked, every encounter with this woman made him slightly destabilized, "Sure. Asher, you remember Lana?"

Lana stopped eating the tomato and wiped her mouth with her left hand, her cool gray eyes stared at Asher, "You are Asher. Malik said I should show you something."

Ravi’s brows creased, they did not talk about that. Show Asher what, his eyes moved to the woman who had resumed enjoying the tomato as if she could not feel their gazes. When she was done, she watched her hand and turned to the two pairs of eyes looking at her.

"Oh!"

She touched a thin wristband around her wrists. It was a Morphix. Ravi recognized it, to protect the identity of heroes, Sinclair Inc. had developed Morphix more than 400 years ago. Now, it has gotten more modernized and subtle, in all various shapes and designs but it was quite novel to see the ordinary design that comes up when you browse Morphix.

The light blue wristband with a single white cloud as an insignia.

"Is that?" He gestured to it.

Lana looked at her band and nodded, "Yes, Morphix 1.3, I got it for a pretty neat sum." She tapped the band and began to transform.

Ravi could feel the rippling of cosmic energy. Like the boots, it was quite marvelous how this planet that is so far below the radar of any intergalactic organization could learn how to harvest cosmic energy from Nests and put it to good use.

Her costume was a vibrant, living thing, an interesting fusion of plants and fabrics. Where there was a lab coat that looked like it had been washed in a while, leaves, and vines wrapped around her body in what looked like an efficient combat suit and they continued to move, stretching around her waist, small tattoo green marks covered her entire face, leaving only a pair of cold steel eyes.

Her long green hair wrapped around her hair like a crown, little blue flowers holding them down like a hairpin.

From an absentminded, cold researcher, the woman turned into a cold-blooded guardian of the forest.

Asher gasped, almost running to Ravi’s side. He stood in front of Ravi, causing Ravi to bend down to talk to him.

"What are you doing?"

"That is Poison Ivy," Asher said, his voice trembling a bit, but more than fear, was disbelief. Extreme disbelief.

"Poison What?"

"You don’t even know who I am?" Lana said, there was a little hurt in her voice that made Ravi discreetly take out his phone. "I can see you. Just check." The hurt had turned into a gleeful expectation.

Ravi checked her out on his phone, blinking at the hundreds of results that popped out.

Poison Ivy. Wanted by the Lupe City Police Department, ABI, and Interpol. No 9 Most Wanted Villain in Avalon. Reward Money, 2 million dollars.

At this, Ravi took in a harsh air. 2 million dollars. 2 million dollars, surely he could knock her out and give her to the Avalon Bureau of Investigation. That was a whole lot of money. Filing the thought for another time, he continued reading.

Poison Ivy is a notorious villain mostly responsible for the bioterrorist attack in Lupe that claimed the lives of 30 thousand people. She uses her knowledge of botany and chemistry to create deadly jjn toxins and weapons. She is being wanted for multiple counts of bioterrorism, illegal use of toxic substances and biological agents, and conspiracy to commit mass murder. She is considered extremely dangerous and should not be approached. If you have any information of her whereabouts, contact the authorities immediately.

He blinked and looked up at her.

Lana did not see any awe or fear, hate or terror in his eyes and it made her feel at a loss. This was not how it was supposed to go. Ravi was not even judging her.

"Do you want to ask me anything?"

"Did Malik tell you anything else?" He asked, rubbing Asher’s shoulders to get him to relax.

Lana thought for a while and tapped on her band. She bent down to maintain eye level with Asher, "Don’t believe the media, I have never killed a child. It is against my moral code."

Both Asher and Ravi choked at the same time before looking at each other and schooling their faces.

"I have a moral code. I do. You don’t believe me."

"Did he tell you anything else?" Ravi asked, bringing her mind back to why she was sent here.

Her brows furrowed, "He said I should tell you I am jobless and once I start something I always finish it. Who knows what that mad man means? Listen, You are probably not very fond of me right now but you are still going to give me the beef stew, right?"

Ravi blinked. Yes, Malik had a little bit of a crush on him, maybe more than a little bit, but he actually felt that this woman might be crazier than Malik and she had no idea.

"Give us a minute."

He pulled Asher to his room, gesturing to him to sit on the bed, "Are you afraid of Lana?"

Asher looked at the door, "A little bit. Ravi, does this mean Sage is a villain too, like a villain like Poison Ivy?"

"Probably."

The expression on Asher’s face felled and he lowered his head,
