I Am Tired Of Being A Hero -
Chapter 136: Marry me?
Chapter 136: Marry me?
The food he had made that money was incredibly simple as he did not have the street after last night’s event.
He placed the tray in front of the excited Lana who rubbed her hands together, "I have not had food in more than two weeks."
Asher, who was both nervous and curious, moved a little closer, "What were you eating?"
"Nutrient pills. I made them myself." She fished out a small nylon of white pills, "Want one?"
"No. No, he does not." Ravi replied without looking back.
Lana shrugged and concentrated back on her food. The red bowl of stew featured largely cut beef, chucks of soft radish, carrots, mushrooms, and fernbrake. She could not wait any more, she first took her spoon and lifted one of the meat to her mouth. The meat was so soft that it melted in her mouth, leaving her tongue mesmerized by the flavourful spices.
So tender. So filling.
Her mouth was numb because of the heat but Lana did not care. She put the entire bowl of rice in the larger bowl of stew, the mound of rice sinking it and being surrounded like a captain on deck. Using her spoon, she broke it apart and mixed it thoroughly before taking another bite.’
She closed her eyes and continued to eat so quickly that the food would be snatched back at any moment.
"Shouldn’t we tell her to slow down, she might choke?" Asher came over to ask him.
"She is an adult. I am sure that she can take care of herself."
"You just don’t want to talk to her, Ravi."
"That too." Lana looked like she might jabba the spoon into his eyes if he came closer.
Lana dropped the empty bowl and licked her lips which had turned red from the spice of the stew. She looked at the empty bowl, the freshness of the vegetables, the fluffy rice, the tender meat, and the delicious spiced stew, she made up her mind.
She looked at Ravi and walked straight to him, causing Asher to tense a bit.
Looking at Ravi calmly in the eyes, she instantly went on one knee, "Marry Me."
"Eh?"
"What?"
"Lana, are you crazy?" The last words came from a small dark purple hole near the sink in the kitchen.
Ravi took a deep breath and decided to address everything carefully.
"Sage, come inside like a civilized teenager. What you are doing is called peeping, it is a federal privacy violation. Come in through the front door."
"Who said I want to come, I was just... Forget it. Wait! What did Lana just say, I am coming over."
The hole disappeared but Lana was not concerned, in her hand was a pretty ring made of branches.
Ravi rubbed his head first, "Lana stood up first.."
Lana stood up, her green hair flipping behind her, "Listen to my proposal first."
"No.."
"Ravi, why don’t you want to listen to her proposal?"
Ravi was a little surprised at the flash of mischief in those cornflower blue eyes, then it dawned on him that this was Revenge. Asher was taking his revenge for him ignoring him when Lana started going on about grading her bodyguard mission.
He tried to grab him but Asher moved swiftly as a cat, evading his hand and chuckling as he moved back.
Ravi’s lips twitched, the happiness was even greater than he had anticipated.
Lana continued seriously, "I would quit. I would quit my alternate lifestyle."
Alternate lifestyle, Ravi’s eyes bulged, was what she called being an international criminal. He said that this woman was even crazier than Malik, why didn’t anyone believe him?
"I would find a job, a very good job. You just have to stay home, cook, and look after the kids. I would pay you a very large monthly allowance. What do you say?"
"Lana." The voice that sounded was very tired, mixed with both exasperation and helplessness, "Lana, you can’t go around, proposing to all the men and women that make you a nice meal."
Lana turned to look at Malik rolling her eyes, "Why are you here? Sage, when you go to school, your peers would bury you alive for being such a report card."
The red-haired teen rolled his eyes, "And then I would just..." His eyes moved to Asher before moving back to Lana, "Kindly tell them not to do that again."
Even Asher could not help rolling his eyes as Ravi stared at them, only one sentence in his mind.
The whole lot of them were out of their minds.
Lana turned back to him, her cold expression changed into a weird smile, "What do you say, Ravi?"
Ravi shivered, "No. Thank you, I have someone that I like."
He watched as Sage moved over to Asher, the two of them whispering to themselves, and when Asher saw that the others were looking at him, he pulled Sage with him, and the two of them headed to Asher’s room.
"Are you sure..."
"I would not change my words in this lifetime."
Lana sighed and then her eyes glowed, "You are rejecting me?"
"Yes."
"My heart is really, really hurt."
Ravi just stared at her, unblinking and indifferent.
Lana pursues her lips, "If you give me something sweet, my heart will not be hurt anymore."
Ravi looked at Malik, Is she serious? He asked with his eyes but then recalled the other could not see him and sighed.
Opening the small door of his mind, he called out, "Malik." As he expected, the other’s mental presence had not stopped hovering around his mind.
"Yes?"
"Thanks for sending her to Asher."
"I am not doing it for free. Lana needs to get out of the house as well."
Ravi’s lips twitched, "Are you not too confident exposing her identity to a police officer?"
"Which police officer?" The gentle voice asked teasingly as it stepped through, "Besides if she is caught, it would be the consequences of her actions. Everything we do has consequences, Ravi. Everything we do creates Karmic ties."
"I don’t believe in Karma." Ravi said quietly before changing the subject immediately, "I have found four schools. You asked for the list. Which level is Sage now?"
