I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 132: What to do?

Chapter 132: What to do?

A shrill scream sounded from downstairs and Ravi woke up, his eyes blinking open as he instantly dissipated, appearing in Asher’s room.

The child was shaking, he had gotten a bag from nowhere and was packing his clothes and snacks in it. His hands were shaking and most things he was picking were not entering the bag but falling on the ground.

When he saw Ravi, two large tears rolled down his eyes and he sank to the ground. His body was shaking uncontrollably as he gasped for air. His eyes were wide with terror and his face was so pale that it was chalk white.

"Asher! Ash! It is okay. I am here! I am here!"

It was as if he could not hear him, he could not see him. His eyes were blank, without any other emotion but terror. Words fell from his mouth, completely incomprehensible, the only thing that he could understand was ’found’.

"Asher! Look at me! Listen to me! I am here, okay. I am here. You are safe. You are safe, Asher."

Asher blinked his eyes to look at him.

"You are safe, Ash. It is going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay." His hand was on his shoulder and his right hand was at his back, stroking him to calm him down.

Tears ran down Asher’s face, "No. I have to leave. I don’t want to go." His voice was hoarse, with an indescribable pain. He lowered his head, like a deeply wounded bird, trying to shrink into his wings, blindly seeking shelter.

"You don’t have to leave. You can stay here. You can always stay."

His words brought fresh tears that rolled down Asher’s face but his shaking reduced. He sobbed loudly, and Ravi could not make out what he was saying.

He signed and pulled the other party, allowing him to cry. Asher cried and cried, he seemed terrified to go to sleep, clutching tightly to Ravi, looking at his bed like it was a monster after his life.

"Malik." Ravi whispered, the other had entered the compound around the time he came down.

"I understand." The words sounded in his mind and slowly Asher let go of his shirt as his eyes soon closed.

Ravi put him to bed and covered him with the blanket before he walked out of the room. Malik was sitting in the living room, he looked like he had been pulled harshly from his sleep and he yawned when he saw Ravi .

"His terror woke me up." Malik said calmly, "Can you give me a cup of water?" He rubbed his forehead, he was so intuned to the two houses, that the terror had ripped through his nervous system. It was like he was there, right there with the child.

Ravi sighed and went to pour the water for him, he took a cup from the shelf, a little distracted, "He had had nightmares before but nothing like this. You did not see it, Malik, it was...it was just terrible." His fingers trembled as he looked in the direction of Asher’s bedroom.

"I don’t need to see it. I feel it, all his emotions. I was not even in his mind, his emotions were so potent, he projected it out."

Ravi drank the water he had gotten for Malik before he went to pour another glass and passed it to him, "I think I should leave school for a while. Let me focus on therapy. You said there was a therapist in Alstria that focuses on child and teenage trauma. Can you get in contact with her?"

Malik sighed, "She is a colleague at the Raven Wood University. She is one of the best and she genuinely cares about children. But Ravi, this is not about Asher’s past. I felt another person’s emotion. Glee. Excitement. Indifference. I think a dream catcher visited him."

"A dream catcher?"

"They are people with the ability to manipulate dreams. It is a National ability and everyone with the ability is taken to the Capital or one of the mutant headquarters. If you do not report anyone with the ability, you would be under the same law as if you are protecting a fugitive." Malik explained, "They can enter the dreams of others and use those dreams to do all sorts of things. I believe this dream catcher was tasked to find where in particular Asher is."

Ravi raised his eyes and looked at Malik. The gold flecks in his eyes seemed to dissipate, leaving only a gray abyss.

"You mean the Infernal Covenant."

"Ah! Was that the group that he was in? Makes sense, I heard that they collect children with strong abilities, kill their families, and raise them. A very nasty group. But the Infernal Covenant can not be the one looking for him, the organization is divided into thirteen so it would be one of their priests or priestesses that would be looking for him. Maybe they need his ability for something. So Ravi, what are you going to do?"

"They are villains, right?"

"Undoubtedly. They are evil."

He was going to kill all of them. He was a Sentinel, after all. He would do anything to keep Asher safe, he had not given him that name for nothing. Asher was going to grow up happy and joyous.

"I am a bit surprised. Are you not planning to tell that Captain of yours?" Malik said, yawning one more time.

Captain? Arlen? Why should he tell him? If the police got involved then he could not take care of the Infernal Covenant the way he wanted.

"No."

Malik blinked, "You know he is a Sinclair?"

"Yes?"

"Forget it! Find out on your own. I am going to sleep. I will check on Asher when I wake up."

"Malik. Wait. I need your help. I need information on the Infernal Covenant, their bases, everything. What do you want for it?"

Malik grinned, "Nothing much. I just want to be there when you kill them. Deal?"
