I Am Tired Of Being A Hero -
Chapter 130: He makes me happy
Chapter 130: He makes me happy
Asher! Let’s talk!"
Asher froze up, the small smile in his eyes left and he looked at Ravi cautiously. With his tray, he looked like a small cat at the edge of being abandoned.
Ravi patted his head, "Don’t be anxious. I just to talk about Arlen."
"Okay."
Ravi waved his hand and the tray flew gently to the table along with his own plate. He halted the cooking process of the noodles, keeping them in static before tapping on the chair for him to sit down.
Asher sat down gingerly and looked at him.
Ravi cleared his throat, "Asher, listen to me. I know you don’t like Arlen."
Asher avoided his eyes and played with his clothes.
"You and Sage should probably avoid any spy-related job in the future. You are not subtle at all."
Asher’s lips twitched in a way that mirrored his and it made Ravi’s heart pound faster. What was this feeling? It was a strange kind of joy.
"See, I won’t force you to get along with him but I would like it if you can tolerate him." Ravi’s cheeks turned pink and he also wanted to avoid contact but he was the older one, "Asher! I like Arlen a lot."
Asher looked at him, taking hold of his expression, "Are you dating him?"
"No!" Ravi waved his hand in front of him, "No. No."
Asher frowned and lowered his head, his eyes growing cold, he clenched his fists, "Did he refuse to date you?"
Ravi shook his head, "I have not told him yet. Ash, you can’t tell him, ok?" He smiled at Asher, "You know I have not had much happiness in my life."
"The Captain makes you happy?"
Ravi nodded, "He does." He patted Asher’s head, "I wonder what I did to get the two of you. You guys are so special."
It was Asher’s turn to blush and the faint dusting of red spread across his cheeks, "I am not special."
"But you are. Very special. I can tell you, I don’t go around saving random cats."
Asher’s lips twitched and his eyes became much brighter.
"You know I gave you that name for a reason. Asher. I truly hope that you will be happy all your life and that blessings will continue to follow you. That is my desire for you." He patted his cheeks, smiling at the shocked expression on Asher’s face.
"Okay. I would cancel my deal with Sage. But because of you, not because of the Captain."
Ravi chuckled and moved his hands again. The food began steaming once more.
They settled and began to eat.
Ravi picked up the chopsticks and paused, "What exactly was the deal with Sage?" He could not help his curiosity.
Asher smiled mysteriously, "It is a secret."
Ravi chuckled, "I will find out."
Asher smiled and focused on his meal. There was a faint spicy taste in his mouth and the tip of his tongue was slightly tingling and painful but the food was just so delicious. The more you ate, the more you wanted to eat, craving a bite after another, as if it could alleviate the spiciness.
It was addictive and the flavor was even more memorable.
He was happy, they left one grilled fish overnight, it was as if the spice in the fish was even stronger than it had been last night. Along with the chewy and soft noodles, the rich and delicious taste left a memorable aftertaste.
Finishing his meal, he placed the chopsticks on top of his bowl and turned to look at Ravi. He understood why everyone was teasing Ravi yesterday, even now, although the food was so delicious that he finished it within minutes, Ravi ate so measurably.
His back was straight and he raised the chopsticks to his lips. He picked the noodles slowly, using a small plate to catch it and he did not even slurp it. He looked like those princes that he saw in historical movies.
No, he did not look like it. He was a prince.
"Drink your milk," Ravi said without looking at him, he could feel the other gaze on him.
Four minutes later, he was done eating and he dropped his chopsticks.
"I prefer this one to the cup noodles. It is so delicious."
Ravi chuckled as they took the plates to the kitchen.
"The oranges had begun to ripen. Are we going to take some to the orphanage too?" Asher said with a little excitement, the last time, he and Ravi had taken most of the corn and kept it at the door of the orphanage before vanishing. They had even changed their appearance.
"We can also sell some to our neighbors."
"Sell?"
"Ah! I meant to give. Give freely and generously." Ravi instantly changed his words, patting his head, "We can make some deserts with them."
Asher loaded the dishwasher, "Desserts? With orange. Ravi, can you bake?" His eyes were filled with stars like he was seeing something that he could not believe that someone else could do.
"Baking. Not really." The other was like a tail, following him around, from the veranda to the living room.
"I can try though. You see, baking is following the recipe exactly, at least while you are still a beginner." He did not mention his first attempt at a cake that was such a complete failure.
"It sounds simple."
"We can do it together. What would you like to bake?"
"Just a cake. That looks like it is a birthday cake."
"We can do that."
Ravi’s phone beeped and he looked down, it was a text message from Arlen.
"Sorry, Ravi. Something urgent came up. I sent you the list of schools." There was a pdf attached to the message and Ravi opened it.
Arlen had talked about helping him find a good school for Asher.
There were four schools in the pdf file. The first one was a Catholic Boarding School here in Davenport with a day-student program. Ravi skipped it, that was an automatic no for him. He smiled when he saw that Arlen had also made a comment on the school.
"I would not recommend this one. The students’ smiles look so fake."
