I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 129: Peppered Noodles

Chapter 129: Peppered Noodles

Even if an asteroid were to fall on this house, Ravi had no single intention of getting up from this bed and meeting Arlen, no after what he did last night.

The thought of last night made him want to bury himself into the bed, and use the cover to make sure that he would not be found.

He was a Sentinel and youth was their gift, he could find another small town to live in so he could just avoid Arlen.

No! He was a guardian right now. Everyone knew that constant moving was not good for a child.

Fine! He had faced demons that even immortals ran from, what was a mere mortal.

Except it was a very handsome mortal, with blonde hair and smiling blue eyes. He rolled around the bed until the warm presence left his house. He sat up immediately and ran down.

Asher was in the kitchen, flipping over some eggs.

"Good morning, Ravi."

"Good morning, Asher." Ravi smiled, panting his head while looking around.

Asher could tell what he was thinking and explained, "He wanted to make breakfast. Eggs and Pancakes but he got a call and had to go."

"Oh!" Ravi sighed, feeling both a trace of disappointment and joy. He stood at the edge of the cupboard, watching Asher carefully lift the egg into the plate and give it to him.

"Breakfast!"

"This would not go anywhere but thanks."

Asher chuckled as Ravi finished the fried eggs and placed the plate in the sink. He thought of something and looked at the door. It was Saturday. What did he have that was so urgent that he needed to leave on Saturday’s morning?

"Asher! Do you remember the grilled fish yesterday?"

Asher nodded.

Ravi suddenly grinned, "Have you had peppered noodles with grilled fish?"

Asher shook his head.

"Can you handle spice?"

Asher nodded his head eagerly.

"We would be using instant noodles. Get three packets. I would get the vegetables from the farm."

Instant noodles were something that did not take much time so everything had to be ready before he began cooking.

He cut the vegetables quickly into baton slices. For peppers, he was using three types, one scotch bonnet, habanero, and red bell pepper. He sliced them carefully before he began to slice the garlic and the onions.

"Can I help?"

"Just watch."

Asher looked at the packets of the instant noodles, "it is like cup noodles. Can you substitute them?"

Ravi shook his head, "They are different. These instant noodles are dried but uncooked noodles. You can control the texture and you can use it for more complex dishes like this one and you can customize it the way you want. But cup noodles are precooked and then they are dehydrated before they are packaged. Do you understand?"

Asher nodded, "I wonder which one is more delicious?"

"Let’s see." He took out the grilled fish and began to debone it, it was already soft so it did not see any extra cooking.

Seeing Asher’s wide and excited expression, Ravi chuckled. The young teenager followed him everywhere in the kitchen.

"Go back a bit. The oil might splash you."

"But I want to see."

"You can see it from there. A little back. Those are turtle steps." Seeing he was out of the splashing zone. Ravi boiled some water and faced the wok, he would be doing two things at once.’

He added the garlic and onions and the house was soon infused with a nice aroma. He fried it until the onions were translucent then he added the peppers.

Soon, Asher began to cough.

"Go to the living room."

Asher coughed one last time, "I am alright."

Asher added the instant noodles to the pot and added the grilled fish to the fried pepper mixture on the wok and fried them together for a while.

"It is going to be very spicy?"

"Of course. It is called peppered noodles."

Seeing Asher’s expression from the corner of his eyes, his lips twitched, "Didn’t you see me take out the seeds? It won’t be that spicy. Okay. But check if the milk in the fridge is still remaining.

Asher rushed over to the fridge and in the next few seconds, he carried a milk cartoon to where Ravi was cooking.

Ravi blinked, "Has it expired?"

"I don’t think so. Let me check." He looked round and round the box before he saw the almost fading numbers next to the cap. "No, it is good."

"Mmh. So why are you bringing it to me?"

"Don’t you want to add it to the noodles?" The teenager had a confused expression on his face. He looked up innocently at Ravi.

Milk in noodles. Ravi had never had it before, he wondered how it would taste, "Maybe next time. The milk helps with the spice. If the noodles are too spicy, it would be best to have them with a glass of milk."

"Oh!" Asher looked so embarrassed that Ravi chuckled.

He drained the noodles and rinsed them under cold, water before adding them to the noodles. He mixed them together before he added the sauce he made with the spice packets and sesame oil. The grilled fish was already spiced and the peppers came with their own flavors.

Ravi did not want to add anything because it might spoil the original flavor of the dish. He looked at the noodles he was frying and sighed. The noodles reminded him of him and Arlen.

He already missed him. He should have just gone down in the morning. It was not that Arlen knew what he did.

He mixed everything together before he sprinkled green onions on the noodles and switched off the gas.

He dished the food and Asher carried his in a tray to the dining table. Ravi followed behind him, the television was on.

"Blue bloods? He had never seen Asher watching this show.

"Arlen was watching it?"

Asher pursed his lips and nodded, "He was watching it when I woke up."

Ravi appreciated Malik’s input of just waiting but he did not want this to continue between the two people he loved on this Earth.

"Asher! Let’s talk!"
