I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 128: Phantom

Chapter 128: Phantom

The police were just too stupid. Helena thought as she stopped in front of the club with the huge bright shining signboard that read, ’Phantom’. If a club opened with the name of a self-proclaimed thieves association, shouldn’t you check it out?

But they didn’t. They wouldn’t. Maybe that was the reason that Victor used the name, so he could get off on knowing that they were right in front of the police the whole time and yes they could not see them.

Phantom was more than a club, for every college student in the premises, it was the place to be. The absolute pit of debauchery. She flashed her VIP card to the bodyguard in front of them and walked in.

Blue and red lasers swept through the dance floor, the DJ wore a rabbit mask playing the music loud enough to make her wish she either brought her earplugs or killed him. One of the two.

She bit her lips, brushing through the tens of drunk or high people who were grinding on the dance floor. It was not an easy task, they moved and grooved to the throbbing swell of music as if they were puppets on a string.

Soon, she saw Nova. She was dressed in a barely there, see-through, lace dress that stopped just mid-thigh. If one could call it a dress. She was dancing with a woman, tall, with short kinky curls. Their bodies writhed together as Nova pulled her closer, her hands sliding all over the woman’s hips, moving down with each passing.

Helena pulled the woman away, "Get lost!" She said harshly and looked at Nova who grinned.

"So Hel baby, you want to dance with me."

Helena rolled her eyes, "I need to be sober right now. Where is Victor?"

"Probably banging some twink. Not everyone is as tight-laced as you are. Loosen up a bit. Come on, dance with me."

Helena bit her lips and looked away somewhat. She felt angry with herself at the small desire in her heart to dance with Nova. But she knows Nova and knew how much that was a bad idea.

She grabbed her and dragged her towards the VIP room where Victor was. The hallway was dark and had a certain smell to it, light, floral. Was it aprosodic, she wouldn’t be able to move anything past Victor.

"The Boss..."

"Get out of the way!" Helena said to the guard. The tall, huge man nodded blankly and moved.

"Do you need to use your powers? You can flash your card, Helly."

"Don’t call me that?"

She opened the door and sure enough, Victor was nude on the bed, a younger man was lying underneath him, gripping the bed sheets, judging from the clothes scattered on the ground. He was one of the bartenders that worked in the club.

"Victor! Get dressed and let’s go. Priestess Kaida wants to see us. Fluxx is back." Helena said, standing by the door.

"She can’t wait!" Victor gasped, as he began to drive in faster.

Helena gritted her teeth and held back Nova who wanted to join it. It took another five minutes but soon, the naked young woman scurried out of the bed, white lines running down his leg.

Victor smiled and picked up a bathrobe and tied it around his body.

"Could you dress more appropriately?" Helena said and Victor rolled his eyes.

"Could not be so uptight?"

"Don’t fight. Let’s go." Nova said, habitually coming in between the two of them. The three of them went out of the Club through the back door where Victor’s Porsche was parked.

Helena scoffed.

"What are you envious of my sweet new ride? Helly baby, not all of us can save our money for retirement. Some of us don’t want to retire." He grinned like a shark, half of his head was shaved and in place, there was a black tattoo of a lion’s head, teeth-baring, ready to attack.

"Victor. If you ever call me that again. I promise you. I will kill you." Helena’s voice was quiet as she entered the car.

Nora sighed and entered the car.

Victor stood there watching her, his orange eyes fixed on her form but after watching her for a minute, he entered the car and slammed the door. Pressing the buttons, the car zoomed off, the speed faster than what was allowed by the state laws.

Helena did not say anything. She knew Victor and to her, he was too unstable. Who knew if he would get into a fight with her right one and damned the consequences. All she wished was for him to be removed from Phantom but the priestess did not listen to her.

’He is important.’

She glanced at her, him. Just what can he do that someone can not do?

The car soon reached a small bungalow house overlooking Lake Kadia. Who would guess that Priestess Kadia, one of the 13 priests of the Infernal Covenant lived here in a place so beautiful that it was almost unreal.

They parked and entered the house. There were no guards, but it was not needed. The priestess was capable of handling almost everything on her own.

The Infernal Covenant was different from other villains’ associations. For instance, there was not just one leader that controlled everything. The Infernal Covenant had 13 leaders, 7 priests, and 6 priestesses and each one of them led their own small organization. Just like Priestess Kadia led Phantom who was known for carrying out heists.

They entered the door and walked down the hallway to the meeting room. Helena looked up to see the various paintings that were placed on the wall. They were all peaceful and beautiful, making a person move closer only to touch them and confirm whether it was real.

"Welcome. Helena, Nova, and Kaida. Have a seat." The priestess Kaida was soaking her feet in a bowl that contained both flowers and small orange fishes. Helena looked at her puzzles but still went and sat down.

"Kaida. What are you?"

Kaida leaned back in her seat. She was beautiful with raven hair and light purple eyes. Round face and a small round nose.

What was more surprising to Helena was the laugh marks on the side of her chin, like she had been happy all her life.

That story was not popular in the Infernal Covenant. Happiness, a lot of them did not know what it was.

"It is called Foot therapy. I read it up somewhere. Okay, let’s begin. Fluxx?"

The moment she called his name, the corner next to the bookshelf shimmered and a man walked in. He was lean and had a wiry build. His black hair was cropped short and his brown eyes seemed to have no distinct features.

He had the kind of face that you would forget after meeting him once, a perfect average appearance that was boring from every angle.

"Fluxx had been in the Georgiou Mansion for the past two months."

Helana turned and looked at Kaida, with a little respect in her gaze. They had only announced their desire to steal the Kaynos last week.

"Two months. I didn’t even know you were gone, man. Too bad." Victor said, making Helena to inwardly roll her eyes.

"Mr Aristides has moved the diamond." Flauxx just said quietly, even his voice was boring, monotone like he was reciting a script.

"He has finally moved it. Where? Where? I can’t believe it worked." Nova asked excitedly.

Helena was surprised as well. They had a strategy, they would announce what they intended to rob and the keepers would panic. Their panic came because they had been successful. As long as they announce it, then they will steal it. They had no choice, the reputation of the Phantom was at stake.

"They moved it to a small town far West called Davenport."

"Davenport? What is that?"

"It is a small seaside town. It was a port initially but it had two nest attacks in ten years and the Port moved to Alstria." Helena replied

"Davenport. Good. What else?"

"They are sending a B team of superheroes to protect the diamond. Of course,m everything is on the low. They also borrowed some equipment from Sinclair Security. Mr Aristides complained that he spent a heavy fortune on it."

"Good. We would try to get the equipment as well. Everyone should prepare, we will leave for Davenport in the morning."

"Kaida, we are leaving like that. What of our Thrall? We can’t find the little brat." Victor said with a grin. The malice in his eyes made Helena almost shiver but she knew better than to show off her fear to the pack of Hyenas before her. She looked at Kaida who gracefully stepped out of the bowl of fish.

"I already have a plan for that. We would be making a stop at Carum to find someone.:

"Carum?"

"Yes. The Dream Catcher moved there according to my source. If we find her, we find Thrall. A shapeshifter would be needed for this Heist. I should not have lent it to Duplicator."
