I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 125: Ten Questions Part 2

Chapter 125: Ten Questions Part 2

"What is the craziest thing that you have done?" Arlen asked, his eyes wide with anticipation.

"Nothing."

The anticipation died in those ocean-blue eyes and the owner looked at him pitifully, it almost made Ravi chuckle but he had gone through everything in his mind. He might have traveled to various realms and various places but he doubts he had done anything crazy.

"Nothing at all. You haven’t swam in an absolute zero river, never done underwater driving, have you done that?"

Ravi shook his head.

"Ridden a Slentix Bull?"

"No."

"Have you biked down a dead road?"

"A death road."

"Yes. It is like a very thin road, carved out of a mountain. If you fall you die."

"Why would I want to do that?" He might want his soul to be destroyed but Ravi absolutely, absolutely did not want to die. Death would mean reincarnation and reincarnation would mean another life as A Sentinel when his mortal form passes away. He does not want that.

"Because it is fun."

Ravi raised an eyebrow, "I think your mom should have increased it from a year to ten years."

Arlen laughed, "Okay, I was a little wild when I was young."

Ravi recalled the first time he met this person and even when he jumped into a burning house to save someone who even the ghost on the streets knew deserved to die, "You don’t look like someone who had just a crazy youth."

Arlen smiled and looked at Ravi, this pardon made him feel like he could tell him everything, "I came from a hero family. Like my mom, her parents, their parents, everyone was heroes. So, from when I can remember, the notions have been pounded in my head. I was young, I felt trapped, all those crazy adventures were my way of rebelling."

Ravi just listened carefully.

"I am glad you were not hurt."

"Yes."

"I am sorry they suffocated you."

"Thank you, Ravi.

"What made you decide to be a police officer and not a hero? Not like police officers are not heroes..." Seeing the other’s eyes twinkling, he sighed, "You know what I mean."

Arlen rubbed the hand he was holding absent-minded.

"I am not sure. Heroes are important, very important but not all criminals are villains or mutants. Not all evil can be defeated with powers. I believe that not everything can be made right by just fighting evil. I believe in Justice and I believe that justice needs the law. The police upload the law, they protect the community and they maintain order. I like that very much."

Ravi was mesmerized. He was so handsome every day, but now, with burning blue eyes, he had never looked more handsome in Ravi’s eyes.

This was it? This was what he once thought. He had looked down on his naive self but now he could feel a sense of pride for young Ravi. To desire to protect people was not a foolish thought.

His dreams might have been shattered with the strong block of reality but at least, he wanted to protect his dream.

"Do you think I am naive?"

Ravi nodded, "The world is not so simple. But you are inspiring. You just made me want to be a police officer. People like you are absolutely needed in the world. Arlen.." He paused, he was looking at him but for a second, he felt as if he was looking at another person, "Don’t lose faith. Your desire is a beautiful thing."

Arlen looked at him, and he could only see him, "Thank you. I seem to be thanking you a lot."

Ravi smiled at him, "I wonder why?"

"Is that not another question?"

"No. It is your turn."

"Then tell me your favorite things, Ravi. I want to know your favorite weather, your favorite color, food, and activity. Everything you like."

"The things I like? That is more than one question, Arlen.""It is called an umbrella question. They exist."

Ravi smiled, seeing him make a silly gesture with such a serious expression, "Okay. I believe you. Because I know you won’t lie to me."

"Answer it. I am the last child, such tactics won’t work on me."

Ravi chuckled, "My favorite weather is snow. So winter. I don’t like the cold but I like the snow?" He had lived in a place where there was no snow and when he died, he had been too busy to appreciate it but these four years, he had stayed outside till he caught a cold.

"Snow. Got it."

"My favorite food is peanut noodle soup or chicken pepper soup. I can’t choose. I like it because I have it whenever it is cold, it warms me up."

His voice was the perfect cadence and Arlen felt like he could fall asleep to it.

"My favorite color is blue. My favorite activity is...painting."

"You paint?"

Ravi nodded.

"Can I see? Do you have a workshop?"

The workshop. Ravi shook his head, "Not right now. I will show you later."

Arlen did not push but just nodded his head.

"And what don’t you like? Tell me. Tell me everything."

"There should be a new rule. You can’t use two umbrella questions in a game."

Arlen pouted and Ravi laughed. He was adorable.

"Why do you even want to know that?"

Arlen looked down, he was still holding Ravi’s hand. He could feel the stark difference in their temperature, the other’s hand was cool, bothering on cold, and it made him want to squeeze it more. Make it warmer.

The process of getting to know someone was like playing with one of those Minor Poly Puzzle pieces.

In the beginning, you can only see small pieces, and they look hazardous, scattered. But as long as you are patient, you will begin to piece them together to form a picture. He had pieced a lot of puzzle pieces but he wanted more, he wanted to form a complete picture.

And keep this picture to himself. He had never felt this way about anyone before.

"In my head. There is a book with your name. I want to fill it up with everything about you."
